I absolutely adore this song but OMG it was a pain to write lyrics for. None of the translation sources I found were consistently accurate so I went the old fashion way and asked my native family and friends to translate the song for me into English as literally as possible LOL. I'm proud of the results but it was certainly a journey to keep trying to fit an entire sentence into three syllables...
An artistic choice I'll note here, however, is the choruses' first line. For example, the first chorus is originally "一念花树绕香云, 一念随剑影".
"一念" (yī niàn) literally means "a thought", so it could be taken as "a thought about the flower tree that grows like smoke clouds; a thought about a sword's shadow", but I decided to keep it as a proper pronoun in my English lyrics as a reference to Yi Nian Bridge. As a result, the "flower tree" and "clash of swords" I write in my lyrics refer to the fight Xie Lian has with the Demon of Yi Nian Bridge in which both elements can also be connected back to.
There are so many other little pieces I had to cut out but I'll save you all from more rambles LO.
