In this video I take a look at the Iwata HP.TRN1 and run a spray test with a LPH.80 mini spray gun, I also do a basic unboxing and compare this brush and how it performs to the iwata hp.cs eclipse. Is this brush just another airbrush or does it have the potential to also be a mini spray gun ?

nice review, I use trigger style due to some nerve damage in fingers but really like you showed both guns with side by side results

Thanks for the objective review. It is nice to see a review of a trigger air brush where you make it very apparent that you prefer the two stage trigger "normal" air brushes because it is what you are used to but that this form of air brush is still valid.

No probs glad you enjoyed it and yes, it definitely comes down to what you are used to but since having one of these I am finding I am using it regularly to quickly complete backgrounds and other elements within the art, I think the short answer is that you can never have too many airbrushes 👍🏻😉

The TRN-1 is designed for 8 to 20 PSI so a little high on the pressure here. The TRN-1 also has a needle stop adjustment at the rear end of the barrel so you can adjust the maximum amount o paint released making it easier to make fine lines, dots, etc than it is shown in this video.

I have two TNR2's and I love them! If the 1 sprays like mine, the bomb. I also remove the cap because it can build up with paint/dry tip. I like my HC Eclipse as well. I love the Neo TNR because its easier on my hand/fingers/wrists. Im almost 50 so things hurt more! Haha. I do batch sprays and spray about 30-40 hours a week. Its not a paint sprayer coverage but still a nice sprayer and covers nicely.

I absolutely love my trn-1 and my hp-c both have their place, but when it comes to laying down either primer or high gloss backer, I use my trn-1 when I need to preshade or paint smaller gunpla parts I grab my hp-c

I think I would have to agree about the trigger. I'm 60 years into scale models. Don't think I could ever do anything other than down for air, back for paint. Of course you could probably paint a Tamiya Tiger in just a couple of passes with it. Iwata makes really good stuff and I could see a mural artist or something of that nature having a good go with it. Cool.

Nice demo . I actually own the neo iwata air brush and it’s a descent brush for painting . Would you recommend a larger compressor for an Iwata RG2 spray gun air brush like the larger one similar in the demo . Sincerely J Cheers

You should've talked about the trigger mechanisms more the dual action of the eclipse allows for much more precision than the trigger.

I’ve got one great little airbrush you can dial in the trigger lock from back. It’s a lot more hand friendly you don’t get so much hand or finger ache from using for long periods of time and will work down to 10psi. I’m fortunate I can use both I got the trn1 due to my disability I have rheumatoid arthritis and my hands are all messed up but I also use a harder and steenbeck chameleon which is 30grms lighter than the infinity. But this is a great one if your hands are messed up I would think the procon trigger ones would be as good. I would recommend it. The trn2 is exactly the same but side feed

I got the Procon trigger airbrush and works great, bought the trigger style due to a back spine injury and cannot move my fingers good for a longer time with a normal airbrush, cramps and shocking movements. But since the trigger style my paint work is improving step by step. The procon was more expensive then this Iawata now is. And the quality of iawata always has been good, thinking of buying this one also, think the bigger cup will be making the difference. Brings me to a question. Are there even bigger cups loose available for painting a scale 1/24 fridge trailer in 1 go now i need to refill a few times the cup.

Yes it’s a great brush and great info appreciate you sharing re ; how it is easier on your hands, I definitely agree with that and the dial at the rear is definitely helpful to anyone who is starting out or wants to keep a consistent flow of paint, without having to worry too much about mastering the double action technique 👍🏻👍🏻

You could take a look at the HP.TRN2 which has options for larger cups , other than that some of the other trigger models that I mentioned in this video will also work great for larger applications 👍🏻

@@AirbrushAsylum I had a good look around before I got one. The side feed just didn’t feel right to me. I used my trn1 for a year until I got the chameleon which was so light and trigger is adjustable in tension as well as the quick fix. I am looking at possibly getting the procon boy ps 275 or the 290 and toying with idea of building my own personalised airbrush on h&s custom build configure page

Iwata are great airbrushes but I got to say they are overkill for most users. My Iwata Eclipse was no better than my Badger 105 Patriot which cost half the price. The cheap Chinese airbrushes are good for basic work and you can buy one for the price of an Iwata nozzle!

You didn't mention those of us who have arthritis in our hands/fingers. The trigger airbrush is THE ONLY ONE I can use without constant paint in my fingers/wrist. It's really hard for someone "trained" in the traditional button-style airbrush to give a "non-biased" review! To give you another example, I have used a trackball mouse with my computer for years. I know that the majority of people are used to regular mice that they have to move around on a surface in order to move the cursor on the screen. These folks try to sit down at my computer and literally freak out because ALL they need to do is move their thumb, but they can't get past moving their entire arm/wrist/hand to move the mouse! What I'm saying is that we all choose the tools that work well for us for many reasons and I'm saying that I wouldn't trade my Grex trigger airbrush for any of the expensive button-style airbrushes on the market. At this point, I really CAN'T because I have accretions at the joints of some of my fingers (rheumatoid arthritis) - trigger style for me, that's for sure!
