My problem is where do you stop at??, so much detail done and then semi removed....a great artist once said, "I don’t like it, I see to many errors"....artists can be the cruelest of judges to themselves!!…🤔😳 Awesome work, well done...and I’ve learnt a lot 👍🏼😊
@wickedartstudio
@wickedartstudio 5 жыл бұрын
The stopping point is completely up to the individual artist. Although some of the detail gets removed, there's still a lot visible in multiple layers which gives the finished product more depth and realism in my opinion. I couldn't agree more with the quote you mentioned and the fact that artists are hard on themselves. It took me a very long time to accept that most people will never notice the mistakes I see in my own work. I appreciate the kind words and I'm glad you learned something! Comments like that make the hours I spend editing videos worth it!

Wicked Art Studio It is a real pleasure to watch and study your work, to many videos are time lapses and even slowing the speed down, you can miss so much... One thing for sure, this IS the best airsbrush skull I’ve seen and boy I’ve seen a lot!!……thanks for the reply and please keep uploading 👍🏼😊

@@More-Space-In-Ear It's difficult to find a balance point. Some subscribers prefer the super fast time-lapse videos. Others like the approach I used in this video better. I try to do a little of both. I'm also beginning to transition into more in-depth, actual tutorials. Time will reveal whether this is the correct approach or not. Again, I appreciate the kind words!

Wicked Art Studio I’ll be looking forward to those tutorials. I’m an absolute beginner and only mastering the brushes and making stencils..saving up for paint as I’m only using acrylic tube paints thinned down, I’ve watercolour paints too which I may try for airbrushing....also paper..I’m trying watercolour paper, card, photography paper for printers etc, all having different results...some good, some bad and some god awful bad! LOL...then it’s all the Lear’s to try out...I’ve got at least 20 years booked up in my little corner in a garage so I’ve plenty time to learn! 😂😂

don't airbrush like someone else. youll never set yourself apart. airbrush like yourself and perfect it. im a visual artist and musician. you have to develop your own style. learn and absorb techniques from those who have great technique as this video obviously shows . always educate yourself, but you wont learn how to be an artist. .....you can't. you can only learn better techniques to improve what you already have inside. just my opinion, but that's my belief

this is amazing work!! what kind of paper do you use here? (brand) and what is your sepia reduce ratio? subbed!!
@wickedartstudio
@wickedartstudio 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! I was using Strathmore Series 500 Bristol Board for this skull. I don't recall specifically what my reduction ratio was when I painted this, but I'm usually at, or around 1:1 (one part paint and one part reducer).

@@wickedartstudio forgive me but i have one more question about the paper, do you prepare it on some way? (sand it / put primer or gesso) or you just start airbrushing it right away? sorry for many questions.
@wickedartstudio
@wickedartstudio 5 жыл бұрын
I don't mind the questions. Yes, I do prepare every surface I work on, even paper. And I have a video that covers how I prepare paper prior to airbrushing. You can find it here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hp6IeZCKl72qfYk.html

Amazing work... May I ask what your canvas was? And how did you prep it? Again, amazing job!!!
@wickedartstudio
@wickedartstudio 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! The canvas for this was kind of an experiment. I usually work on automotive surfaces which respond well to the techniques I like to use. I'm not a big fan of the synthetic papers yet. For this I used Strathmore 500 Series Bristol with an automotive clear coat applied directly to the Bristol before I began airbrushing. I was pleased with the results; however, it's not very cost effective.

A little of both on this one. I had a reference photo from the beginning and used it to cut paper stencils for a basic layout. Paper stencils were also used to mask the skull and background while painting those areas. I did exercise artistic license and change subtle things while rendering the skull hoping for a better end result. Thank you for the kind words!
