Air Salvage International, based at Cotswold Airport process a huge variety of aircraft, both for storage and line maintenance as well as for the more visible dismantling and part out of aircraft that have reached the end of their economic lives.
As well as taking 8 of BA's 747 fleet for dismantling (G-CIVJ, CIVL, CIVN, CIVO, BYGA, BYGB, BYGE and BYGF) there are a wide variety of other aircraft / airlines parked at various parts of the airfield, awaiting their fate.
On this visit, from 15th December 2021, there are just 2 BA 747s remaining - G-BYGA and G-CIVN; both of which feature in separate films on any channel.
Filmed at various points across the airfield, you will see a 1966 vintage Boeing 727-100; 2-MMTT; with engines removed and now parked at the West Belfast Apron, along with 757s and a barely intact 737-300 from Jet 2; alongside an ex- Qatar Airways A330-300 and Jet Time 737-700 - all in various stages of de-construction.
Since I last filmed the collection of aircraft at Kemble in July 2021, the larger 727-200 (M-FTOH) of much newer vintage than the 1966 model has been relocated from the West Apron, to "H site" near the cafe and Tower. This is understood to be in private ownership and not for break up - and as you'll see in the film when viewed close up, is in lovely condition externally.
The final part of the film looks at the aircraft most visible from the A429 / Perimeter Road - the 2 BA 747s and a collection of Air Portugal A319s plus another ex Qatar A330-300; each seen up close. There is also a further view of these same aircraft filmed from near the Control Tower, along with the other 3 Boeing 747s (2 ex Saudia and 1 ex Corsair); all 3 of which are in the stages of de-construction.
