This video is an introduction to a pizza oven build project where aircrete will be used as the basis for the material to construct the pizza oven. In this video, a quick introduction to the garden sprayer foam generator is given. Watch out for part 2 in the series where the foam generator build process will be explained.

Thanks for videoing the 'Test & Improve' stages on both of your channels and taking us along on your journey to find an easier, fster to make and lighter pizza, wood fired oven for the backyard/garden. I'm also thinking "Wouldn't it be nice to be able to take it with you, if you move residence?" Aircrete will make it so light you could. I don't know about anyone else but when I put so much time and money into something like that I'd be inclined to take it with me. I say that because I saw a Real Estate reno where the new owners knocked down and removed an awesome backyard/garden pizza oven because they didn't want it. It's not everyone's "cup of tea" ; - )

The garden sprayer is a really good idea. I would not have thought that could take enough pressure.

Nice! You might want to add another valve going from between the air supply line and the tank so you're not dumping the same amount of air in the tank as the wand, it only takes about 20 psi max to move the solution out of the tank and into the wand, it would give you even more control and in the end a better foam for your project.

I just ordered a garden sprayer to do this too. One thing you might want to look at is a tool called Clamp-tite. Alternatively, you can make your own. But it essentially removes the lower quality and more expensive screw clamps and replaces them with metal wire.

Thank you @Da Malat ~ really appreciate the time you have taken to explain this so clearly with details of the various bits needed. Can I ask if it might be possible to produce the foam without using an air compressor and simply use the garden sprayer handle to generate the required pressure? Thanks

Looks like you are getting a nice foam output. One thing that you mentioned in your commentary regarding video that you have seen from the U.S. and the pipe that they usually show, You called it waste pipe however they are using schedule 40 (U.S. standard for high pressure water pipe,) this is the type that is connected to the city supply meter, so you see it is designed for high pressure. I lived for many years in the U.S. so I am familiar with it, now my problem is finding U.K. equivalent?

Yes, the AirCrete is a bit soft. Two things can be added to increase the strength. Graphene is good for making it stronger. Another thing is Helix Micro Bar.

I think it is low thermal conductivity you are referring to(or conversely high thermal resistance), and not high thermal mass. Thermal mass =heat capacity X density. This stuff would have the same heat capacity as normal concrete, but less density, making it easier to heat a volume of it up. What’s nice about it is it takes a long time for heat to flow through it(high R value), making it easier to increase temperature on the fire side of it.

Thanks for your video! What kind of soap solution do you use? Is it just a common household soap or special one to generate form?

What a great build, would never have thought of that. The steel wool inside the lance is genius! By the way, I wash my car with Demon snow foam added to the foam gun attachment on my Karcher pressure washer. 50ml of the concentrate would completely cover several cars with foam. Would that not work for the air bricks or is it the wrong kind of foam? Also, I wonder if fibre reinforcement would be worth adding to the bricks like they put in fibre reinforced concrete?

I'm going to experiment with snow foam next week. Just used a cheap washing up liquid for this trial. I also wonder if an air powered lance would create a foam dense enough that you wouldn't have to physically touch your car at all to clean it? Just power wash, apply the dense foam, let it slide off then power wash again !

@@davec9254 I've looked at adding compressed air to a snow foam lance on my other channel. The results were very encouraging, especially as I was using a very poor snow foam concentrate. With a battery powered tyre inflator built into the handle of the lance, it might even be something that could eventually become a retail product? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gpyddbBnz9qZf4E.html

Hi there - question for you on the foam generating pipe at the end of the setup: Can the outlet side be larger to reduce the pressure without affecting the foam quality? It looks like it comes out pretty fast (which might be exactly what one would want, not sure) and I'm wondering if a larger outlet side would still work well but reduce how much it shoots out. Thanks for the video -very well done!

Hi. How large is your compressor tank? I don't have a compressor. I am planning to buy a 25 litre one. Do you think it will be enough for this job?
@DaMalat
@DaMalat 2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. Mine is a cheap Aldi compressor which is 24 litres. I've started a separate KZfaq channel for diy projects so I can keep the DA MALAT channel purely for cooking videos. I've just made a rocket stove form aircrete and used cheap shaving foam to make the aircrete. The channel is called Mancave Projects👍 kzfaq.info/love/Q1ILSxde0hBXCC3vNTyUnA

Hi, can you please do a tiny experiment for me? (since you already have the "foam machine")..., so, can you tell me what happens if you put the foam (just the foam, without concrete) in the freezer to minus degrees temperature? I want to know if it freezes, if it gets hard, solid....thank you
@DaMalat
@DaMalat 2 жыл бұрын
It will degrade before having the chance to freeze. I've already done timed experiments on the rate that the foam degrades and 1 hour is the maximum for foam to still be present in any volume. As it will take more than 2 hours for the foam to freeze, you'll just be left with a block of frozen liquid. In order to keep a dense foam for an extended period of time, you'll need a chemical reaction rather than just introducing air into a detergent. A mixture of the following chemicals will produce a thick foam that will freeze easily: glycerine, lanoline, Stearic acid and triethanolamine. The foam generator then becomes redundant as the chemical reaction from these materials does not require the introduction of compressed air. Hope this helps.
