Күн бұрынIn this episode of Reel Cool Adventures, we hunt invasive Tilapia with the Benjamin Airguns .357 Bulldog. Tilapia are a an invasive fish species in South Florida that damage local native habitat. Removing them is encouraged and they taste great.

I've always said if you're a Florida boy it's impossible to starve! I'm an old dog now but in my day my dinner table or my chest freezer was always bulging with fish, lobster, crab, & shrimp. Oh yeah... Whelk and Conk too and clams on our west coast! Despite the image of old age homes nestled in palm trees Florida is a sportsman's paradise. Salt water, fresh water and on land. If you like to chow down on Diamondback's we have plenty of fat ones! I don't think there's another state that offers the diversity of game and agricultural abundance. Hell, my back yard is home to Mango, Papaya, Loquat, Banna, Avocado,and bay leaf. Pineapple & Coconut grows too! All that said, it was a hell of a lot nicer when i was a kid. 40 years ago there were no parking meters on Delray Beach or most other towns either.

It's truly depressing how many people have no pride, give no F's, and just disgustingly litter. Then wind and rain transport it down to the water. Every time I fish at the spillway of the nearby lake I fill several trash bags with cans, packaging for both bait&tackle as well as snack foods, it doesn't even begin to put a dent in how much trash is scattered out there. Then next time I'm out there it's all over the place again. Shitty lazy people. There's a trash can atop the spillway outlet walkway and a dumpster in the parking lot. Doesn't take much effort to bag your shit and drop it off on the way out. Straight up Idiot Lazy Apathy.

We use to do this back in high school. Go down to the river to shoot tilapia in the river with and air gun. Headshots, they float. Body shots, they spin and sink.

Where in California do you live in San Francisco or something? I live in NorCal and shoot evasive species all day every day with no issues. Unless you're shooting at people the police won't bother you with a pellet gun. It's perfectly legal as long as you're away from any homes and structures by 200 ft.

There are videos of people who make tiny harpoons to shoot out of their air rifles compleat with string to haul the fish in. Very clever and they can fish from bridges and pull the fish up to them. Alo with practice they can hit the fish that are deeper underwater. This video shows something different. I would like to see a corded harpoon made for this Benjamin. :)

Yeah, him giving it to that guy was a little questionable. I don't know if he would be willing to eat the fish himself due to all the contaminants in the water but I hope so. Anyways it seemed like a last ditch effort to not appear scummy for just shooting the fish and throwing them away.

Mind blown. I guess it makes sense to hit a fish with an airgun when its close enough to the surface. Now I wonder if a .22 will work too. Would the Gamo Swarm .22 do it? Must be tested. Well done! Edit: Just realized. There is another invasive fish that routinely comes to the surface. Snake heads. Next video !

It takes a high grain pellet to penetrate the water... Worth a try with the 22 though! Let us know how it goes!

Is the swarm a pcp? What fps is it rated for? I have rugar impact max and a hatsan blitz in 22. I'd try them both at the surface. Maybe with some copper coated rabbit magnums.

@@joesalvator5878 Swarm is a break barrel with 10 round magazine. .22 is ~850 fps with 18gr iirc.

In Asia they successfully shoot fish with darts. Darts maintain speed better than pellets In water. You can even attach a fishing line and reel to the darts... Personally I don't like the taste of tilapia...
