God bless you for sharing this. I just heard Ethiopian airline refused some people boarding from Ghana to Australia and they tried Egypt air, from fry pan to fire, Egypt air took them to Dubai and the connecting flight didn’t allow them to board, claiming their visa is fake

Wow, I just remembered I was prep the same way and I was on a spousal work visa. They requested for my wife's document and marriage certificate. I didn't see it as anything because I felt it is just the norm. On getting to Canada, the exact same document Egypt requested was what immigration asked too. My thought is, Egypt Air don't want to bear the brunt should one get deported. I know for a surety, if one got a return ticket, one won't go through all of that.

In that case, Egypt Air should check the documents when checking in at the airport of departure, not when transiting in Cairo.

@@sic_transit_gloria_mundi it was from Nigeria they asked for all of that documents. I think each person with their peculiarity, because I got acquainted with a guy from Nigeria after we arrived in Cairo and when we were about to take the connecting flight, the guy was asked series of questions and wasn't allowed to board. I know the guy was on a student visa and I heard some of the questions asked him, I know he was asked if he had payed his school fees and how much he had payed, and the guy responded he had payed a part, if I'm not mistaken, I think he had payed 1,000USD but was told to leave the line. I am not sure if everything got resolved later. Whoever is planning to use Egypt air or Ethiopia airline should buy a return ticket to avoid unnecessary questioning. It is really not in the place of this airline to ask such questions but it's Africa, everything goes.

They refused my friend from flying yesterday using KLM if you are going to transit in the USA you can’t fly without a us visa if you also have to transit in two European countries they won’t let you fly !

To be sincere, the purchasing power (economic, social and infrastructural development factors in on how a citizen of a country is treated) of a country matters a lot. This is especially for Nigerian. You need to understand that we are a potential immigrant because of our population explosion and economic situation. When Nigeria was really good, many countries wanted to associate with us. Now, we have to get our house in order. Respect is earned. There was a time when China used to be treated like underdeveloped economy by the western/developed economies but not anymore. They are envied now. Do you remember when Naira was pared or equal to US Dollar. We should cleanse house and take care of our institutionalize corruption. Let us make Nigeria great again. That’s one of the determinant’s factor.

Thanks for the information sir. I'm a new subscriber and I have a question for you. I had my study visa to Canada since last year but deferred my admission. Now, the passport with the valid is expiring along side the visa in 3months and I have a new passport now. I hope I will be able to travel with both passport without trouble if I board the recommended airlines Secondly, hope having layover in US has no issues

Imagine going to Mexico and you have a stop over in America won't you decide to wait in America? So now only if you have a valid USA visa will they allow you pass thru them. (When booking ticket you will see it boldly written at the top)

If you do not have a valid US visa or US passport or Canada passport, please avoid booking any flight that will pass through the US no matter how cheap it is. If you are booking any airline based in Europe, ensure that your layover in Europe is in only one european city especialy for KLM/AirFrance. If your flight has two or more stops in Europe you will need a valid visa for europe - ideally schengen visa - to be able to pass through.

Respectfully it's the airline's responsibility to ensure all pax and crew are kept safe. So yes whatever means necessary should be enforced. Not because you have a visa-approved you should be transported. There are multiple cases of fraud, human trafficking, drug transportation and acts of terror daily. Good job by these airlines, we have enough problems in Canada 🍁.

The simple reason is that the airline pays if you are deported from Canada.

@@sic_transit_gloria_mundi That's ideal, but not the case. In fact the US has screening posts in countries like UAE and Ireland. And the airline pays a fine if they board a passenger with false documentation. So these airlines will continue to check stringently. The check in for Canada and US after transiting in Addis for example is as thorough as a fresh check in.

Ethiopian airlines is okay as long as your visa has no issues. My cousin travelled using it and arrived in Canada with no hitch

I have heard about some hassle in Brussels, but do not know the persons concerned personnally, so you might consider it as hearsay. As for other airlines, I personnally know Africans who have travelled with Air France without any problems at all when transiting in Paris.
