Because when you change to monitor mode using iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor the monitor mode is enabled on wlan0 use airmon-ng start wlan0 in which you can use wlan0mon to airodump

@@AP-qs2zfif you insist on a better explanation: the person in the video activated monitor mode thru the default iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor command. What the person should do is enable monitor mode thru airmon-ng with: airmon-ng start wlan0
