He can play 15 hand traps because deck is built around 1 card starters that go into generic extra deck monsters that serve as extenders into bigger Extra Deck boss monsters. And said ED boss monsters have multiple relevant, powerful effects.

You've all got it twisted, the fact that you can run 15 handtraps (which are absolutely busted and binary 'answer eff or lose' gates) and still barely manage to get the game to turn 5 because everyone is running the same baby otk boss-monsters (which are absolutely busted and almost always persistent binary 'answer eff or lose' gates) and hoping they roll for win first. The only "play" you get is in matches changing your deck with cards from side, as little variety as side decks actually have these days. If you enjoy playing singles or don't have the $$$ for a the correct side, tough. You either hope your opponent loses to whatever your obnoxious gimmick is, or wait out the twenty hour combos until you lose to their obnoxious gimmick, and bug off to try again. Konami's design process has become an arms race between poorly designed beater cards that inexplicably double as gates, destined to end the game on turn 2, and control cards that exist solely to stop you from losing on turn 2, but are as a result so incredibly powerful that they could just guarantee you win on turn 3. The best and most fun outcomes of that arms race, like TTT and Nibiru, are a complete accident and shouldn't even have to exist in the first place. It's only gotten worse since 2016 (when the game hit the tipping point between game-play and netdeck combos imo). Ironically, if you took a lot of the tier 3 and "casual" (i.e. not categorically busted) decks from now and magically teleported them to 2016, they'd fit right in excellently as suddenly useful tier 1-2 decks. Given that most of 2016's problem was really down to not having enough alternate strategies to force cautious play and less centralized gameplans, that would actually turn that metagame into something unique and healthy. Maybe someone will make a homebrew "2015 and friends" banlist and save the game. Goat goes too far in forsaking all the extra complexity Yugioh *could* have with proper bans and an up to date list of "reasonable" new cards, so a finely tuned modern version would probably be a hit Given Konami's chokehold on tourneys, I doubt they would ever let it see play, though. They wouldn't be able to farm so many packs to meta chasers, after all.

@@Terrantular playing pot of avarice would be a better choice seeing how fast he dumbed monsters into the grave. it also recycles handtraps and extra deck monsters.

You don't have to hard draw the fusion. It's searcheable by red-eyes insight and every red-eyes card is searcheable (although not necessarily useable) by black metal dragon.

@@omgitsdev4568 Hes playing 3 dragoon because of Extravagance. I'm advocating for 3 REF because the deck is literally just red eyes turbo. Linking into Verte and Activating REF accomplish the same thing. Perhaps 3 could be bricky, but more than 1 for sure

@@jermainethode5074 Because making Verte is the same as activating Red-Eyes Fusion itself. Any one card that lets you get two effect monsters on the field is equivalent to another copy of Red-Eyes fusion, without the Normal Summon restriction. Playing more copies of the spell instead of more copies of the playmakers is just wasteful.

That is only if Dragoon is your wincon, the real terror of that monster is that any deck that can spare 3 main deck and 1 or 2 Extra Deck slots can use it. That means, virtually any deck could use Dragoon as a secondary wincon.

Most decks dont play more than one needlefiber, linkross and dragoon anyways, and even if you ban anaconda people on the OCG were using Muddy Mudragon to summon dragoon without even needing Red Eyes or Dark Magician, limiting those cards literally does nothing

i think it basically means the deck doesn't take much skill to pilot especially with the wincon being 1-card engines and then the rest of the deck being handtraps. pretty much how zoodiac use to be

Equate Anaconda to Knightmare Mermaid. Literally the same thing. And banning it will have the same effect, limiting the oppressive strategy to its own deck.

@Nio37 That's missing the point. Mermaid meant any 2 monsters had full Orcust combo. Anaconda means any 2 monsters have Dragoon. Mermaid got banned and Orcust was no longer insanely splashable.

boss monsters are fine. there's always ways to out them. what isn't fine is the fact that dragoon is part of the ender of a combo, after the combo deck has also buster locked you with 3 to 4 other negation on board. then in ocg what they did was hard summon dragoon to dodge maxx c which gave more room in the deck to fit even more handtraps/board breaking cards

Summon sorceress was legal for 4 months. 9 months as a promo. It was also an enabler. Dragoon won't be hit for quite a while. Can't please yugioh players.
