A few more tips:. Boarding starts 30 minutes before takeoff, and the doors are closed ten minutes before takeoff. Remember, it can take some time to park, get through check-in, get through TSA and, get to your gate. There's nothing more annoying than the person who didn't plan an early arrival to the airport and is panicking and asking others to cut in front of them. Show up AT THE AIRPORT at least an hour and a half for domestic and two hours before international flights. It's better to be chilling at the gate than being told you just missed your flight. Don't joke with anyone, especially TSA about weapons... Yes, I have heard people say, "hope they don't see that bomb in my case". It's not funny and may get you searched and banned. Don't be a jerk who puts both bags in the overhead bin. If you are too cheap/scared to check your bags, then store your carry-on in the overhead and your smaller bag in the seat in front of you. Shoes stay on! The last time that carpet was clean was when the plane first went into service... Ewww... And trust me when I say most people don't want to see your gnarly feet. Not every one wants to make friends. Please be polite and let your seatmates have some quiet and downtime. Polite introductions are fine, but many folks travel frequently and enjoy taking a break on the plane or getting some work done. When exiting, it goes from front to back, row-by-row. Do not push ahead of everyone unless you are going to miss your connection, then ask politely of you can move ahead. Most people are very understanding. Finally, thank the flight attendant(s) for a nice flight. They have to deal with some pretty rude people, it's nice to get some recognition.

I always tell myself to be at the airport 3 hours before flight, domestic or international, even if I am late, I won't missed my flight. I did missed my flight once, but that was from taking the bus to cross from Guangzhou, China to Hong Kong airport to catch Qatar Airways and going thru custom! the freaking line was just too long!

I still have vivid recall of a flight from JFK to Boston Logan where my friend and I literally ran up to the boarding gate just as they were getting ready to move it away from the plane, showed our tickets and got on the plane. What security? It was just like a scene from a movie. Even though I rarely fly, I sure miss the old "FREE" United States of America.

I always get TSA pre check automatically yet I never signed up. And that was 4 trips, all round trip. I know you can get it randomly, but so far I'm 4 out of 4 lol One tip I would add is to register as a citizen abroad when you go outside your own country. Better safe than sorry in case you get seriously lost or run into trouble. For American citizens, it's completely free to register and takes a few minutes online.

My tip is you can save $10 on your checked bag for a RT flight (or $5 one way) by paying in advance. Bags are now $35 each way so buy your bags at least 24 hours before check in to save a couple $$! Sidenote: idk if this is for every airline but, I've been able to do this with United and Jet Blue.

Great video, thank you! First time flying and I’ll be taking an international flight by myself. You covered customs briefly so I just want to ensure I caught the general gist of the logistics. - Go through check-in inside the airport - Pay for cargo luggage, if any? - Go through customs - Find gate - Wait near gate and hop on early as soon as they allow folks to board?

Tip: This is what I did when I went on holiday. It is so true that everyone has the same bags. To provide extra security for our luggage on our international flight , we brought some plastic wrap. From Amazon for £7 and yellow/green electricical tape. We wrapped our luggage a few times in the plastic and the coloured electrical tape, we wrapped it twice around the suitcase and handle. It made it so much easier to identify our luggage as we was looking for the tape.

Great video! I would add taking a little bag with some cleaning wipes or even one of those UV light sanitizers, and packing a luggage tracker. Personally, I can't travel without my gego tracker. It has helped me locate my luggage on many occasions. One time, I ended up helping the airline finding my missing luggage, as they couldn't locate it.

My first flight in many years, I was standing on the security line and didn't realize I had to check in first. Needless to say I was late and they gave away my pre-paid window seat and checked my carry on bag due to no more overhead compartment space.
