In American English, I would say "the finger" (never heard of that) is called jetway or jetbridge. Gangway would be a similar bridge that gets you from a dock to a ship/ boat, not an airplane. And typically the Gangway is not covered. Gracias por esta leción. La semana vuelta, voy a viajar a París.

Thanks for that! Somebody just said “aerobridge” in another comment. All of these terms make sense but in my head it will always be: the finger! 😂

El nombre oficial según la legislación internacional de la ICAO es "pasarela telescópica de pasajeros" en español y "passenger loading bridge" en inglés.

Patry, the pilots speak the way the doctors write ✍️ their prescriptions 😂. No one can understand them 😂. Based on your video, I'd make a vid myself with all my crazy stories from around the world including the Spanish airports. Your long vids are the best. Miss them.

This is what I found online: A Passenger Boarding Bridge (PBB) (also known as an air bridge, jet bridge, jetway, and sky bridge as well as by other terms) is an enclosed, elevated passageway which extends from an airport terminal gate to an airplane. Google is a great friend haha

The "Finger" you speak of is actually called an "Aerobridge". "Vuelo de Turbulencia" = Turbulent Flight. Bien hecho, Patry. Muchísimas gracias por los consejos. Este vocabulario es inmensamente útil. ¡Que sigas así!

@@patryruiz. The pleasure is all mine, Patry. Turns out, Aerobridge is the brand name of the most popular company that produces these bridges (much like it is the case with photocopy and Xerox, the company). Other synonyms include sky bridge and jet bridge. In the most technical terms, one would call it a "Passenger Boarding Bridge". I'll look forward to everything else you have in store! Keep up the great work!

Great video. People who work in the aviation industry in the UK would call it a Jetty, but when talking to passengers they would probably refer to it as a jet bridge, air bridge or Jetway (the brand name) etc. Also, "Baggage Claim" is used in the US and "Baggage Reclaim" is used in the UK.

Oh btw, what you call " a finger" in Bulgaria we call it "a sleeve". It's how different languages work. You as a teacher know that. So if you happen to land in the prettiest name in the world - Sofia, take the sleeve then your extra luggage (I'm sure you have some) and enjoy the country with the morsilla and the churithoz that you managed to snuggle 🤗
