VFC's pistons aren't made of polycarbonate. They're made of celery.

Omfg I was so worried about getting a metal rack piston for awhile there, thank you so damn much mate. You saved my sleep tonight... 4 years later haha but I hope you are still around.

I just subbed and I don't know why I didn't sooner. I think your videos are my favorite as for techy stuff. The biggest difference I find between you and a few other more indie techs out there vs. the big corp. retailer techs and such is that I know you will give me the straight scoop with no bias, possibly due to sponsorship or just wanting to be kind to the big brands making you the most sales. I could be wrong but I have seen these guys talk like certain brands just don't do anything poorly (caugh kwa caugh, etc.) only to later find techs that have no allegience to anyone say some very different things. I still watch those guys too but I take what they say in their reviews with a much larger grain of salt than I used to. Thanks for staying honest and helping to keep the others honest as well. Oh and if you haven't already done so ( I know this is a year old post), I would love to see how you go about making a really quite gun, also a really loud one might be helpful as well. Personnaly if I can make an AEG sound less whiney and more of a POP I would go that route as it's the biggest thing I don't like about AEGs is that electric motor and gear noise.

Purchased a ~1-3 year Eliteforce M4/M16 after buying a newer CYMA AK and out-of-box the CYMA performs a lot better. stock motor on the CYMA might use neo magnets while the VFC motor threatens to catch fire when I use it. Motor will go soon, though I'm gonna see how long I can make the piston lasts with corrected AOE...
@hakont.49607 жыл бұрын
CYMA neo magnet motors have a ridiculous amount of torque, I'm gonna use on to pull an SP150 spring on 12:1 ratio gears. I'm currently working on a DMR build with a JG AUG A2 as the base gun, it requires A LOT of external mods to get proper consistency and stability, but it'll be worth it. :D

Ported cylinder or full cylinder and does if effect fps and joules I've heard of people using full cylinders in joule creep build. What are the advantages of both types to cylinders
@Dani986649 жыл бұрын
Your thoughts on the Krytac motor? All I know is that it is 22tpa and has NEO magnets.

Whats the best way to correct AOE on a full metal rack piston?? (The one I have is a 15t shs blue) and I have been using a file on it for about a week and can't get it shaved down enough to let the first tooth of the sector gear pass, and I am afraid if I use my dremel (or something similar) that I'm going to heat up the piston to the point that the rack comes unglued or possibly even hit the other teeth, as I don't have any dremel attachments that are small enough to only grind down one tooth. Any help would be great as I am a newbie tech :P

So, I have been playing airsoft now for about 3 years. I only play with M4's because I like the workspace, and the ergonomics of the gun just work well with me and my own personal motor skills. So, I have been playing strictly KWA for my M4's. I have been watching as many of your videos to learn more about the guns. I LOVE YOUR VIDS DUDE. My question is this.....Is KWA one of the best for M4's? Or....is there something else I should be using to make a custom M4 AEG from scratch?
@Derek1TV6 жыл бұрын
Scottomatic KWA is great until you want to upgrade. Proprietary parts and doesn’t accept mods well
@FrozenByFire35 жыл бұрын
VFCs are the absolute best to upgrade. Their tolerances are fantastic and every thing just tends to work in their gearboxes. The newer gen also normally have a quick change spring gearbox which makes things super easy to put together. KWAs are finicky and have some proprietary parts. There's not much space to shim either in KWA guns and their gearboxes have tolerance issues.

Your not having broken an SHS 15t doesn't really have anything to do with the question. It actually is just an implied part of the question itself. In a perfect world, yes a full metal rack would be more durable. But even in a perfectly tuned setup, a partial compression jam/hang still has the opportunity to happen. In that situation, its either the step gear or the piston that is going to break from that. And even if they are the same cost I would rather strip a piston than have to reshim/regrease the gears. Plus plastic teeth are much less likely to cause further damage in the gearbox floating around than metal gear teeth. Not to mention there is a lower impulse force and less wear overall with plastic-metal contact than there is with metal-metal contact. SHS also tends to be a bit inconsistent between batches, some will work perfectly and others will have excess resistance on the rails/not centered piston head/badly reinforced pickup tooth. The best half rack pistons (lonex, supercore, prommy) are all made extremely well and are consistent between batches. Full metal racks do make good field repair pistons though. Its sort of like a dremel that way, good for almost everything, master of none. I have an shs 15t in my dsg right now simply because i encountered a jam in it and the lonex piston stripped. It will soon be replaced with a supercore or another lonex.

His question called for what I would do. "... And would you run it with a full steel rack or a half steel rack?" I said that I have never broken an SHS 15t piston (I gave three instances in which I've used them in pretty fast/stressful builds in my personal guns). As a result of my experience, I see no reason against using an SHS 15t piston in most builds. I said that I probably wouldn't use it in a crazy gun (M190 at 20RPS). But his question was referring to a basic, reliable, loaner gun (the build list that I have out for that would get ~21RPS on an m110/m120). Note that the build is one of the least stressful builds you could do and still call it a "build." I'm aware that SHS has its fair share of lemons and faults. However, their Pistons are nice for the money once the possible issues it may experience in a particular gearbox are corrected that is. Also, I'm simply not paying $20 for a piston if I absolutely don't have to.
@ChasWG8 жыл бұрын
+TheAirsoftTech I know this is more than a year old, but I use SHS 15T in most all my builds and they just freaking work, I have never had anything go wrong with them or any other part of the gearbox. I have had several different types of partial steel tooth pistons fail all too often. Including a Lonex partial steel tooth piston. Since then I have only used SHS all steel teeth pistons. I like the price and the build quality. And I also have never had one fail.

What is joule creep?
@misterlady14658 жыл бұрын
A video going indepth about Joule creep would be great! Maybe if I donate a dollar to his Pateron that would tilt it to my favor ;) ...and also the high anticipated shimming video would be nice! ...and more podcasts and Q&As! I'm seriously thinking about supporting his Pateron. I know he's busy with school (wait, isn't it summer? :p) and stuff but maybe that'll motivate him to do video more often. I really appreciate the info he puts out and I hope it continues.

Is it false so say a 7.4 volt lipo will shoot LESS FPS than a 11.1 voltOr does less volts give you less fps???
@Gege5478 жыл бұрын
+koch The volts have nothing to do with your FPS. Its increase your rate of fire becuse the motor is faster. High volts good for high rate of fire. With higher Amps you can use stronger motors and those can pull stronger springs. Off course additional upgrades may be required. more FPS= spring guide + spring+piston+piston head and good sealings and a nozzle with O ring. Extreme fps >500 wil need high torque motor and/or high torque gears and good bearings. I suggest to check the sealings first. The ball bearing spring guieds can increase your FPS about 10-30, good sealing is another 10-20 (or even more), Nozzle With O ring nearby 5-10. And you dont need tho change the spring so you wont expose your gearbox and gears more stress. (Off course the ball bearing spring guide will increase the stress on the gearbox a little but you can use less powerfull spring). I have a JG AK 74 and its shott 400+ with stock 100 spring (i need to reduce this because the field restrictions majbe one 90 spring will be enough...).

+Le Bao Huy probably just better than stock and cheaper...probably not the most durable..but it does the job most of the time with less money
@hakont.49607 жыл бұрын
Their motors can be quite inconsistent quality wise, and their 2nd generation gear sets were a disaster. They make overall durable parts though, and I use SHS extensively.
@charliewhelan94887 жыл бұрын
Le Bao Huy lonex ftw
@hakont.49607 жыл бұрын
In my experience Lonex gears have significantly worse QC than SHS gears, their pistons are made of butter, their motors have never lasted more than one season for me and their barrels have an inner coating that comes off too easily. I do like Lonex air seal, hop-up and electrical parts though, so it's not like I'm anti-Lonex, I just run demanding setups. I don't like everything from SHS either, I prefer Lonex cut-off levers over SHS, SHS cut-off levers are poorly designed to put it mildly. I also don't really like SHS motors anymore, too inconsistent, they seem to change the OEM every 2-3 years.

Håkon T. I agree with their gears being utter white, but my Firehawk runs at a nice 45 RPS with full lonex apart from gears and barrel

Never understood what half racks are for. Why give it a point of failure at all. If theres no failure point at all, the gun wont fail at all. The only thing that will break it wear which takes years to actually break the gun.
@johnrivers693 жыл бұрын
because some people would rather replace an easy cheap part designed to break slightly before adverse operating conditions would break something more expensive and harder to replace, like gears or the motor
@darkshock42mlg053 жыл бұрын
@@johnrivers69 shs gears are $20-$30. I don't know how it breaks a motor. It may strip the pinion gear but its replaceable. Just buy new pinion gear. Also for a metal piston to break your gun would require pme to be present but any properly built gun wont have that issue. That's usually caused by the piston not going back into battery all the way because your spring is too weak.
