The og steel phantom was next level rough. Everyone talks about the inversions which were the most painful inversions I have ever been on but they were smooth in comparison to the boomerang turn at the bottom of the 2nd hill. They reprofiled that for phantom's revenge, but it was basically a horrible arrow transition at close to 90 mph(they clocked it regularly on hot days hitting 90...) With classic arrow over the shoulder harnesses. I'm thankful every time I go to Kennywood that Pittsburghers hate change so we got phantom's revenge instead of a new ground up coaster 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You probably know what I'm going to say: BGW's Drachen Fire is the headbangingest coaster I've ever ridden. It was a genuinely great layout that could have been a world-class coaster in the hands of someone equipped to execute it properly. But it was a ride of pain to the extent that it didn't last long.

@@Jason_Maier I’ll actually give Arrow a pass for that one. It was originally supposed to be designed by B&M but they were too busy with Kumba to take on the project. The pre-brakes part of Anaconda should be part of the layout of whatever replaces it. I've legitimately grayed out on that sidewinder. The stuff after the brake run, I've always suspected, was designed to need as little maintenance as possible because of how it's over the lake, and they probably have been skimping on keeping that part well maintained in recent years.
@Tabbdoubleb
@Tabbdoubleb Жыл бұрын
Smart! Anaconda has the potential to be a 5 or even 6 looper. I’m thinking maybe a pretty steep straight drop into a bat-wing before the corkscrews. Also, they need to turn off the mid course so it would go faster through the layout.

It didn't rattle it it bounced on the tracks likes a poorly maintained wooden roller coaster, only it was going 70 MPH. The "airtime" hills at the end made every male on our train vocally grunt as we went over them and got racked. Our entire party agreed it was the worst experience of our trip. Infusion @ Blackpool Pleasure Beach, a relocated SLC that ran slightly smoother when it was Traumatizer at Southport Pleasureland. The Pepsi Loop @ Rhyl's Ocean Beach amusement park. A brutal Pinfari ZL42 that gave me a headache that made me ill.

Steamin Demon at Six Flags Great Escape. That's the first ride I thought of when I saw the video description. As a kid it looked so majestic from the highway. I didn't get to ride it until I was an adult. Wow...what a disappointment. Really rough, but at least it was very short.

Lol. I didn’t ride roller coasters as an early teen so I missed out a lot. But Windjammer was my first time on a vertical loop coaster and I became addicted. I went on the ride at least a dozen times in one day. Maybe because I was a teenager I didn’t mind. I’m not a coaster enthusiast in the sense of making my way to American amusement parks (I’m Canadian), but I’ve been to my fair share in the PNW, California, and Florida. The worse, rockiest, migraine-inducing ride, to me, will always be Universals Rip Ride Rockit. Bashing my head from plastic to plastic even when it’s going straight, I’ve been on it twice in two different years and I’ll never go back.

The remarks people give Anaconda really surprise me because I rode it for the first time two months ago and thought it was the smoothest Arrow coaster I've ever ridden. That still puts it pretty low overall, but I grew up with Demon at Six Flags Great America, and that's a torture device.

for me, Boomerang and Ednor in front at La Ronde are usual suspects for roughness, but the big surprise was Flight of Fear at King's Island. Fun coaster, but oh my god did it shake me around, I was not expecting that! and if you think I'm just nitpicking and being petty, just remember: I enjoy riding Vekoma SLCs and Monstre at La Ronde is the single coaster I've ridden the most often ever AND I CAN ENJOY IT. I know what roughness is, and Flight of Fear is shockingly rough, like a back row ride on Ednor is smoother than a back row ride on Flight of Fear

Ok two things: One, the first time I rode Magnum I absolutely hated it. After getting a few more rides, I actually kinda enjoy it (despite the jank transitions) Two, 11:35 was freaking hilarious lmao.

I rode the Wild Thing at Wild Waves, and I thought it was rough because my head does not clear the shoulder restraints, so I would get some headbanging on the turns. and have a headache after every ride.

You just made me happy I never got on rainier rush - I feel like the one time I was going to get on, it was a busy period, mandated two riders and wouldn't match you. I wasn't in the mood finding a stranger to ride with me, and passed to go on classic coaster again.

I saw the title and immediately knew that Flashback had to be top of the list. It was so bad it was almost fun. The one I'm surprised wasn't even a dishonorable mention is West Coaster on the Santa Monica Pier. I've gotten rides on both Desperado and the Big Apple coaster and neither came anywhere near to how bad I got rattled by WC. Maybe I just got lucky rides on the casino coasters or really unlucky whenever I've ridden WC.

If you're wondering why eurofighters and B&M floorless coasters are roughest in the front row, it's because the front row is actually the zero car.

I would have to say that Vortex @ Carowinds is my least favorite. I remember being excited, but as soon as I stepped on the ride and pulled down the harness I was already disliking it. My 10 yr old self was on my tippy toes trying to “stand up”. We go up, go down, shaky but bearable. But then, that corkscrew… it pains me to mention it. The ride was playing pinball with my head, and it was the first time I experienced head-banging. But after the ride made it worse. Sitting on those brakes for what seemed like ever. It was drizzly, and cold. I’m on my tippy toes, shivering, wet, and my head hurting. That was the worst roller coaster I’ve ever been on.

T3 is always down too. I've been to KK quite a few times. In fact, it used to be called T2. It was down for like 2 years and was rebranded as T3, but apparently they never fixed the reason why it was always down

Some that come to mind for me: - Klondike Gold Rusher (Wild Waves): Zamperla Wild Mouse with really cramped cars and just a really rough ride. Was SBNO for several years but seems to be operating again. - Matterhorn Bobsleds (Disneyland): Even after being fully retracked a few years ago this one is still pretty rough. I'm pretty sure it's always been rough, and always will be. - Jet Star 2 (Lagoon): It's been a while since I've been on this one, but recall it was pretty bumpy last time I was on it.

When it comes to rough rides, I believe Great American Scream Machine comes to mind. The only ride I got on GASM was on my 12th birthday in 2010. It beat me up quite a bit, but I enjoyed it, and thought it still had a couple years left to go. But alas, a couple weeks later, it closed forever, and was demolished, only to make way for another rough ride, a relocated B&M Stand-up, themed to a DC Superhero in Commemoration of a film that failed miserably. Six Flags should've gotten a B&M Wing instead, and maybe given Scream Machine the Alton Towers Corkscrew treatment. Oh well. Flight Deck at Canada's Wonderland is another rough-as-hell coaster I've ridden, although this was recently, back in September 2022. It was my first time riding a Vekoma SLC and I truly expected the worst. It indeed was as bad as everyone said it was, and I'm glad I didn't bother to go on Time Warp next. Flight Deck was bad I imagine T3 might be even worse. Another rough Vekoma I've ridden months prior was Goudurix at Parc Asterix. The ride wasn't as rough as I thought it was, but it was still pretty rough. I thought it was ok. I just braced myself for those terrible transitions, especially on that Butterfly inversion. As for any other Vekoma coasters I've ridden, I'd say the same for Superman-ege at La Ronde. And I rode that ride in August 2019, just a couple days before it closed forever. And those are just the steel coasters. As for the roughest wooden coasters, I'd have to go with Mighty Canadian Minebuster at Canada's Wonderland, Le Monstre at La Ronde, and perhaps El Toro back in July, just a month before it had an accident again.

Maybe I'm insane. I LOVE the old Arrows and am saddened that so many of them have been torn down. I miss Steel Phantom, Drachen Fire, and Vortex. Magnum is still one of my favourites out there. Like I said, I might be crazy, but I have a soft spot for Arrow coasters.
