Oh I can't wait for the finale! The Son of beast was just that... an S.O.B. but its insane to see how much the park has changed as a result of that. Its still crazy to compare the park history I have as a kid growing up, Using terms like top gun and beastie, to what others know and call the rides now. Mystic and Orion, DB and Banshee to close out the series, KI truly is an amazing park with a wonderful history. What an amazing job Airtime has done on these documentaries!

This covered the last time I went to Kings Island, during the 2005 season. The last time I went, I think I rode Adventure Express, Top Gun, and attempted to ride Flight of Fear only to be rejected. I was not brave enough to ride Son of Beast, and after all the documentaries I have read on it, I’m glad I didn’t. I do think that one day, Son of Beast needs to be resurrected as a ground up RMC. I have yet to go to Kings Island under Cedar Fair, but it is a goal of mine. I look forward to it. Thanks for the documentaries on my home park, I love getting perspectives and learning things I never knew about it. I liked this channel before, but once you began this doc series, I subscribed. You are awesome.

When I was a kid, I loved the backwards car of The Racer. It was my favorite way to ride it.

I rode the SOB with and without the loop. For me, the double helix was the worst part of the ride. It's a shame, like some people say, it wasn't around long enough to be RMC'ed. That would have been amazing. One thing that hasn't been mentioned that KI's water park was a direct competitor with "The Beach" water park right across the highway. The Beach was built years before KI's water park, and was very successful at the time.

I actually have a bit of a story about Son of Beast. One day, my dad, my brother and I were in line to get on it, with dad having convinced us to at least try it once. Just as we were about to board the train to get on, it started raining and the coaster had to shut down. We never got another chance because every time we went back after, it was closed, I initially thought it was just a little rough but after hearing about other people's stories, I'm starting to think that sudden rain was divine intervention. In other news, I love this documentary series. Kings Island is my home park and after some IRL stuff is taken care of, I'm hoping to make regular trips to it again.

Seeing the Paramount Parks sign gives me a bit of nostalgia as a young kid, going to King's Dominion. It feels like a totally different park now as an adult, and the fact that it's owned by Cedar Fair. I love the wild and crazy gimmicks Paramount pulled, but I much prefer the experience Cedar Fair provides. They just make you feel like you could go there for the shows and food, and still have a good time without the rides. Still wish I could've experienced some of what made rides like Italian Job, Volcano, & Backwards Racer so cool.

I rode both the Son of Beast and Tomb Raider in their original iterations. They were both amazing rides and I'm sorry future generations didn't get to experience them.

My only visit to the park was early June 2006. We rode the Son Of Beast only once. It was really rough on those helixes. We did get to ride The Beast twice at park closing which was totally awesome as it was getting dark

I rode Son of Beast 3 times in my life. The First time in 2002, and my 2nd time in 2007. The First time I was absolutely blown away, but the 2nd time I got jackhammered so severely by this coaster, I had a weekly chiropractor appointment, then the 3rd time is when it happened the day it stopped on the lift hill. All I can say is damn you Roller Coaster Corporation of America, you should've let the Son of Beast be built by the park instead.

Not that anyone cares, but Bill Balfour is actually my dad lol... my jaw dropped when I heard his name while I was watching this.

Still remember going on flying eagles with my sister and getting too close to the trees around it that the KI staff yelled at us after we got off lol

This series is incredibly well done. Loved learning more about my home park! I miss Son of Beast, I wish they would have executed better on that ride.

I feel like cedar fair understands how to make a park what it needs to be. They knew that KI needed a Giga, and that it needed tradition so people could ease into the park after it was bought. It would be hard to accept that your Pomeranian dog you’ve know for 5 years randomly became a German Shepard Dog, but that’s what the guest members had to deal with on a smaller degree.

Great episode. Pity that stuff happened to Son of Beast. I would have ridden it. In 2008, Behemoth opened at Canada's Wonderland. First coaster under Cedar Fair. I'm grateful to Cedar Fair for buying the Paramount parks. They ruined Canada's Wonderland with duds. Flight Deck and Time Warp. I rode Flight Deck when it was Top Gun. Enjoyed the episode.

As I recall, the biggest reason attributed to Winterfest’s failed relaunch was Paramount deciding to make it an additional cost to season pass holders, instead of part of the season pass like it was before and after.

For all the problems SOB caused and in no way to downplay those, every time I see it in videos or pictures it impresses me more than any other coaster I can think of. It was a really amazing looking ride (emphasis on "looking") and I really wish I could have seen it in person. Just the massiveness of it and the (theoretical) engineering required to build a wooden structure that large is awe inspiring. If it had been a working ride it really would have been one of the most important rides of all time...which I guess it still is, but in a negative way. EDIT: Also 16:31 as an ohio native all I can do is sadly laugh at saying cedar fair "operated geuaga lake." I have never been one to blame them or think they did it intentionally, and the park was a mess long before they got it, but there will always be this feeling that they did just enough to try and minimize bad local PR, then just washed their hands of it.

Thanks for your work on this. It's been great. I'm so glad I got a chance to ride the og Son of Beast. I happened to be in town for a wedding. Something told me it wouldn't last. It was thrilling and a bit rough. However, we found SOB much less painful than the og Beast on that particular trip. Have you ridden the newly tracked Beast yet?

Son of Beast basically defines Kings Island in the 2000's. Maybe if CCI or GCI had built it instead of RCA it wouldn't have turned out the way it did?

The highlight of the Paramount Disaster. But after this it's like Paramount went to war with KI. After this was the scar that was Tomb Raider, followed by the ugliest coaster ever, Stunt Track. Stunt Track is a fun ride, buy when I stand on the observation deck of the tower and look in that direction, I wish the ride wasn't there. How could they make something so ugly.
