On the thorax hurt box, people on reddit (I know) were suggesting an outer thorax and an inner thorax. Outer is less lethal while the inner is the two tap spot. Before the current armor changes I think that would’ve been the way to go but now it seems a level 6 plate makes you iron man so I think we’re good for now. But further changes I think would require a hurt box and health pool adjustment.

15:07 I see 2 ways to make it work. 1. Add vital spots, where hitting non vital spot deals less %. So even if there is gap in thorax, but you got it 1/2 cm from where thorax start, you do not get full dmg. That would also finnally make sense vs Naked Scavs or Naked PMC, cause it's not good that we have to shoot them at least 2 times in throax to kill them with "normal" ammo. 2. Add grazing mechanic. So a bit similar to what i said above, if you got grazed by bullet, you should not get full dmg. Whats more some effect to grazing Ear/Head could be added aswell.

They should have a vitals which is covered by plates which takes full damage and a torso area which takes only like 35% damage

They should keep (new old system with smaller plate) just add Critical Thorax box inside current thorax size of plate. You keep realism and people do not die in random shots

With everyone having high pen ammo and the best armor it is hard to tell how this will turn out. Personally with the recoil change I don't mind extending the TTK. However, when wipe comes around we are going to get juggernauts again.

Very interesting to see how a more realistic system in a "realistic" game is limited by its less realistic RPG counterpart mechanic. It seems as though the only way to get to this answer was by finding out what didn't work. Dang, I can see the frustration players might have with a lack of consistency but at the same time this is clearly a "we tried and found the limits" situation. How you wrapped up the end really sold me on that - good video.

I'm not some kind of medical professional but wouldn't a simple adition of more hitboxes to those critical areas make it more realistic like we have the damage reduction if I remember correctly for when your limbs are blacked out you could simply make more hitboxes some skaling the damage by idk 100% so you get 1 or 2 shoted in the vital organ region while the edges like sholders etc are rediuced or stay the same and maby always cause bleads when you hit them

Even tho the armor update feels good but it still doesnt feel like this is the answer, we basically just went back to OG system but even a little more tanky then the OG... BSG shouldn't stop here IMO something still needs to be done.

My guess the favorite is what we've been asking for: when you loot stuff in the raid, you get a highlight for items that you are looking for. My guess is there will be a different color depending on which favorite it is. So you could say that you want something to use as gear, so it will have a blue outline like in the screenshot. Let's say a quest item might have a red outline so you know you want to get out with it alive. For hideouts you want something as an upgrade so you don't care and barter I'd say you mark it that you want it for a barter. Basically you pick whatever the hell you want and the only difference would be the outline colour.

they should completelly remove lateral protection for those armors that don't have lateral plates, dosn't make sense for balancing purposes that a slick can protect the same areas and is more lighter than the thor exemple.

This is exactly what I said they should have done day one of wipe. But if BSG ever did make a realistic health system and the realistic plates together it would be fucking awesome.

I heavily agree. I would love to see them implement a health syst like GrayZone into the game. I think it would be GREAT if they would start test servers with some various options of health systems, armor, and ammo to help refine the game.

Finally someone who gets timers and switches. I think GZW does a good job with this, would be cool to see more depth to the player health system

0:49 I think this is just giving items a icon (like the FIR icon) so you can favorite things before you go into raid. For example its day 1 of wipe and you go to the wiki to find the FIR needed items for all the quests, you just mark all the items with the quest icon so u know you need to get those for a quest sometime in the future. Same for hideout items, i have 6k hours but i always forget stuff like an awl or toiletpaper is needed so i can just mark it and it will show that mark in raid.

It's a good point that a realistic armor system doesn't work when the health system doesn't compliment it. I never thought about it that way.

I said it many times already and i'll say it again: Additional inner hitboxes for the thorax, basically vitals. Makes much more sense to me than fumbling back and forth with armor-changes.

Absolutely loved the realistic plates. It had issues but imo, the answer was to update the health system/add critical thorax box or something. They went through all that work to add the armor system and it worked really well on its end. It just ended up highlighting a separate issue. Instead of fixing the real issue of the health, they back peddled. Sad to see. Hopefully they go back once they have a health system solution

I'm still not cool with the addition of the Unheard shit. I know its petty but as someone super excited when I found the Like bag this wipe after 8k hours I was always hoping for some of the "missing" containers or under the impression we would eventually get quests for bigger pockets too. So its like the one thing I would actually want (besides the hood for, of course, how powerful it would be in night raids!) are the things they said "nah" and instead we got better insurance times, a dog tag that someone else gets upon killing us and access to PvE which I will likely never touch. Not to mention all the cases and shit that we used to get upon start but they started slowly chipping them away. But I get it. I'm probably in the minority here. Eveyrone else seems, for the most part, satisfied.

Go back to old new armor, but have an inner and outer thorax hit box. The inner thorax would be covered by armor, and the outer thorax wouldn’t be. When outer thorax is blacked, it should send %25 of the damage it receives to the inner thorax, or whatever percentage would feel best. That would be a lot more simple than going in and adding vital organs/hit boxes inside of the body that’ll further complicate Tarkov’s already questionable hitboxes.

Its likely a tool you can use to highlight stuff you need for your hideout, quests, and just stuff you want in general.

Did you do any testing with armor plates and neck hitbox? I read its also protected now

i wonder, when u shoot the back and have a front plate hit, could it be the bullet hitting flesh first and then it travells to the front?

Casual player currently lvl 50, I have 30+ lvl 6 plates sitting in my stash, kinda do think it should only be a craft after a ragman quest and get 2 plates every 7-9 hrs, im never gonna run out of lvl 6 lmao

I personally think the new armor update is more suited for Arena gameplay. Haven’t played long enough to experience the “tankiness” so I dont know how I feel about it yet. Thanks Airwing for the breakdown. 👏🏼

The 30% insurance reduce, is it now only for eod & eod->unheard, or also for people that just bought unheard? Like in general does eod alone has any different goodies than if I would just upgrade from a standard account to an unheard?

Man you rated the ana m2 c tier..im new to tarkov and ive been running that rig legit all wipe and have now been putting lvl 5 n 6 plates in it. Its saved my life from thousands of bullets, way more than any other one.

Hopefully this is just a temporary thing until they rework the health system and add vitals and whatnot. I enjoyed being able to use a wide variety of weapons with lvl 3 ammo and have fun. I also hope they give us back some of the more high pen ammo that they changed when the update dropped since we're back to tanking shots. They teased a realistic armor system for a while and everyone loved it/wanted it, then we got the update and people died to rounds the vest/plate DIDNT cover and complained until they reverted back, crazy right? Whether y'all like it not the majority does play tarkov for its realism, so enough with the "its a game, its not supposed to be realistic" stuff please, I don't see how y'all could like armor protecting areas it shouldn't, armor isn't something you throw on expecting it to protect your ENTIRE upper/lower torso, its there to protect your vitals from a frontal or rear shot, some offer side plates/soft armor too. If a plate carrier doesn't protect you're upper middle chest, THEN GETTING SHOT THERE SHOULD BE VITAL! Now we have MAGIC INVISIBLE armor protecting said places, how cool righttt? If I shoot you side on, those bullets are going to slip into your chest and kill you, but not anymore because that much realism was too hard to swallow, so back to W keying with meta-armor and absorbing bullets. "Just click heads".. If I'm being forced to aim for the head in a realism shooter... that's bad. Adding a more in depth health system would've been 100x better than simply reverting back to an even worse state. Now give me the usual "Join the military" comments that'll just further prove my point. At the end of the day slow paced realism beats a warzone playstyle.

WHY are they changing armor? I get that new extraction shooters are not as realistic and they want their barrier of entry to be similar to competitors in the extraction shooter space… But the old armor overhaul Tarkov was on such a good path. It gave purpose to the different sized plated and the hitboxes although brutal and not perfect, felt realistic and meaningful. This new armor change is headed towards a CoD direction in my opinion, and BSG should focus on improving other mechanics rather than diluting their armor system

The plate hitbox coverage is probably the same in-game as what they showed us for the new update. What I suspect they changed (which is causing the magic full-torso armor effect) is the hitbox priority. So I'm saying that now, when a projectile hits a player, the game is preffering armor hitboxes over body hitboxes, even when a projectile hits a body hitbox first.

wonder if this is going to help when you wear plate only protection and scavs will routinely shoot you and just go straight through your armor without hitting it

my mainly deaf in my right ear the sound is to low and flat so the little that i can hear i cant even register anything else makes it tuff to play arena and other extraction shooters have a nice bass to player movement when they arent walking and directional sound can be registered easier allowing me to feel less handicapped and enjoy the game

After many hours of gameplay on the new system, This is a huge W! It works signiicantly better IMO. I am no longer dying one shot to thorax. I love it and feels great overall!

I think armor needs to stay the way it is *or* add a 'vital organ' system like Rising Storm has as well as the ability to revive team mates that die from non-head chest shots assuming you have some sort of (currently non existent) revive kit

DayZ had hitboxes for internal organs like heart and brain. The configs are still there but they disabled the damage to these hitboxes. There is no way or communicating heart hits or heart deaths, which makes it a bad feature, probably why they disabled it, because players would complain about inconsistent hit detection and damage

Yeah all this armor stuff is good and fine BUT they need to get rid of STIMS. Period.

BSG should have kept this system, but added a hitbox from the center of the chest equivalent to the head. For me, it's a waste.

I feel this maybe a temp fix. Probably just hoping 1.0 has a different health system. But i understand that's asking a lot.
