Went to visit my Popo and ended up completely re-doing my brother's room. Fortunately, this mini make-under cost me less than $500 (around $350 if you take out the junk pick-up). Join me as I transform my brother's room in Hawaii into a cozy and comfortable space for our family to take care of Popo. I'll be reorganizing, painting, and getting rid of old furniture to make it more universally appealing. i LOVE the goal of you inheriting / buying your Popo house and renovating it, and keeping it in the family for generations to come. I also appreciated how you showed how to upgrade a room with not a lot of money and without throwing out everything.

@@AjaDangcan you do an episode of her just interviewing her about her life & asking advice on stuff & asking her things about what we should think and do in life while we’re young? That would be precious. I grew up with my grandma while my mom worked in the capital. There’s moments when I wish I was able to record videos of her before she passed away. But I totally understand if Popo or you don’t want to do it

This is exactly the Hawaii content I will ALWAYS sign up for! I relate so hard to coming home from my major city and not doing any of the 'fancy stuff', but instead spending as much time as possible with my family and EATING (mainly for free at that lol). My grandmere aka my Popo lol passed away in 2022 at 98, but before then, whenever I came home, I wouldn't even go to my parents' home but directly to hers. I'm actually watching this from my childhood bedroom and you gave me all the warm fuzzies. I also feel you SO HARD bout dreaming of buying my grandmother's home one day. You truly give me so many good vibes and goals for the future, thank you for being you 🖤 and please give us all the Popo content! she reminds me so much of my Grandmere

@@AjaDang I came here to say the same thing. They are tiny lizards (we call them geckos). I live in Hawaii. I don't mind the geckos coming in the house cause they help kill bugs. My daughter is 100% afraid of geckos, so my husband has to catch them and take them outside. I'm 100% more afraid of the bugs, but oh well lol.

@@AjaDangthey are tiny lizards/geckos. They don’t bite, no venom, nothing. I grew up in Southeast Asia and have seen plenty of those eggs growing up. We just let them crawl over the walls & ceilings because it’s bad luck to shoo them away. They’re small & harmless but scary when they accidentally fall on you (feels like cold meat with beady eyes). BUT! They eat cockroaches, flies and mosquitoes and moths. So we liked them more than insects. The circle of life.

Omg I love Popo. My Lola passed a few years ago and miss her so much! I grew up in a multi gen household as well and so badly want the same for my eventual children. Again, I'm loving the natural sounds of the clips. Also big YUCK to the eggs on the wall. Makes my skin crawl. The room looks much better and looking forward to more of Popo!

Your Popo is so cute! It was a heartwarming video and I enjoyed the room redo/reoganization. Now, living oversees, I miss my grandma a lot and wish I could see her more often. I'd love to buy her house when she passes. It's a great house and holds so many memories for all of us. Since I live abroad that'd require 35% down 🙃, so we are trying to pay off my husband's student loans ASAP and start saving money for that.

new builds are generally more cookie-cutter compared to older homes in North America. This is because municipalities have to approve home floor plans and they're way more stingy now compared to homes built in the 70's and 80's and even older. So home builders today generally use floor plans that they know will be easily approved by whoever at the city reviews it.

Lizard eggs! Those look like they Gecko variety. They're not that bad, they take care of ANY insects, bed bugs, mites, scorpions, centipedes, etc. They also don't like to mingle or bother anyone, so they'll just stay in their lanes and chill in hidden corners. When I was a student I worked as a mover and their favorite spot is under fridges cause of the drip pans. So just heads up everyone to keep your drip pans clean! P.s. put your dream of buying your Popo's home in your vision board next time, you have the power to manifest it!

I think about buying and renovating my Abuela's house sometimes. I think id struggle with removing the bits that she made though. Like so many design choices and not great patch jobs that shes done just to keep the house going and to keep it feeling comfortable and like home. Theyre ugly but i love them because theyre her. But also i could not live in a home with exclusively orange lamps 😭

The room looks %100 better. Did you ever find out what creature the eggs were from? I would check under the carpet in the area where those shelves were and check other rooms of the house for infestation. What frigging bug has eggs like that?! Your grandmother is so sweet.
