Ajahn Mun Bhuridatta Thera (Thai: มั่น ภูริทตฺโต,) (1870-1949) was a Thai bhikkhu from Isan region who is credited, along with his mentor, Ajahn Sao Kantasīlo, with establishing the Thai Forest Tradition or "Kammaṭṭhāna tradition" that subsequently spread throughout Thailand and to several countries abroad. Ordained as a monk in 1893, he spent the remainder of his life wandering through Thailand, Burma, and Laos, dwelling for the most part in the forest, engaged in the practice of meditation. He followed the vinaya (monastic discipline) faithfully, and also observed many of what are known as the 13 classic dhutanga (ascetic) practices, such as living off alms food, wearing robes made of cast-off rags, dwelling in the forest and eating only one meal a day. In spite of his reclusive nature, he attracted a large following of students.
Translated by Thanisarro Bhikkhu, the full text of "The Ballad of Liberation.." can be found here: www.accesstoinsight.org/lib/t...

The Pali term is Khanda, meaning "aggregates". There are 5 khandhas that we experience. These are: 1. Form (the body) Rupa -This is matter that is tangible (ie can be touched). This Khanda is linked to our five senses (smell, touch, taste, sight and hearing). 2. Sensation (feelings) Vedana These are feelings experienced from using the five senses. They can be physical or emotional. 3. Perception (the process of recognising what things are) Sanna -This allows people to recognise things in the world because they have seen or experienced those things before. 4. Mental formations (thoughts) Sankara - This is about the different opinions and feelings that people may have. 5. Consciousness (an awareness of things) Vijnana - This is the awareness a person has of the things around them in the world.
