This is probably a super unpopular opinion but my biggest problem with the album was the vocal delivery. It's not that I don't think Lorde is a great singer (she is), but the vibe she was going for with this album seemed to be calm and meditative with super mellow (and sometimes repetitive) instrumentals, and because of that I think her voice should have been smoother and a lot less layered to have a soothing/angelic quality to it. It's a decent leave-in-while-doing-chores album, but imo it could have been a lot more simplistically beautiful with the right vocal delivery. Idk. Maybe this style just isn't suited to her voice, which is wonderful in its own right and really shines on less mellow songs that can show off her vocal versatility.

Not everyone will like it ig but sometimes yall have to experiment with stuff, can't stick to that same routine everytime, that would mean ur not allowing urself to develop as a person at all and thats sad.
