Before the very serious knee injury in November 1998 he was one of the top 2-3 players in the world. Technical, fast and physically powerful...then he became an excellent player again but not what he was before

Football was different. These player decided games. 1-0,2-1, not hattricks or 5 goals in 7-0 games. Serie A was stacked. Players like Raul, Schevchenko you cant compare them to lewa, suarez or haaland and mbappe. Very different eras. The gap was different between teams

@@molanski i wasnt saying that vini mbappe lewa or suarez are better. i'm saying that those players (del piero, raul, van nisterlooy) were as good as lewa suarez benzema etc. different eras, now you can see that they are the top scorers in the champions league and theres no sheva or raul in the top spots. but football was very different in the 2000s and those players scored less goals but they decided every match with just 1 goal. players today are great but they can score hattricks in the group stage so easily and farm goals.

@@JuventusJuve-mc1jl se non lo avessero acciaccato nella finale UCL del 98, Del Piero avrebbe vinto il pallone d'oro, mi ci gioco casa. Nella stagione 97-98 fu incredibile. Purtroppo gli forzarono il recupero per i mondiali , con risultati deludenti, e poi ci si e messa di mezzo la sfortuna con l'infortunio a Udine, quando Alex ancora non si era del tutto ristabilito dal precedente infortunio. Del Piero è stato sfortunatissimo, eppure si è reinventato e si è riuscito a creare una seconda parte di carriera incredibile anche se diversa. Quel gol al bari nel 2001 ha riacceso la luce su una carriera che ha benedetto noi juventini e in generale il calcio italiano e non solo

He was super talented and very effective in opponent area with his deadly passes and precise shots. Also he was very good with set pieces. In today's standarts he wouldnt play for any elite team because he doesnt have the stamina to go back and forth for a long time, he is short and not effective in headers, he doesnt press in front, he goes deep into opponent goal line through wings which is a no no in today's standarts for some reason, he tries tricks when he is on wings to get past opponents which is again a no no because he may lose the ball and team loses possession percentage. You need to pass to midfield when you have the ball on wings, then midfield will pass you back and then you pass him the ball again and he may change the attacking wing then other winger will pass the ball to midfield again and opponent will have their positions to defend easily and some time in these passing things, for no obvious reason someone can try to cross which will fail %99.99999999999999999. Back in the time footballers were paid to do creative things to make team win. We would watch these games curiosly about what will kaka, totti, del piero, henry, bergkamp, beckham, zidane, raul do that match. We would talk about them and try things they do when we play football in streets. Damn you Guardiola

@@O.1404h euro2000 is a game he should Have never played in the first place, he was nowhere near 100% especially after his sacrificing performance in the semifinals against netherlands. That was simply bad management. For the other finals, in UCL 97 he came from the bench and almost alone was solving the whole game against Borussia. In 96 his goal gave the intercontinental cup to Juve. In 98 unfortunatly they injured him during the game. When del piero underperformed in finals, there was always a reason behind it because he has always been a major player when it counted and his career proves it. For example, A lot of Juve Scudettos came thanks to his goals in the matches that counted, like in 95, 98, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2012. All years where without del Piero juve would Have been second in the league

Perché è mancato nei momenti decisivi. Sfortuna. Nel 96 avrebbe potuto vincerlo, ma fece un brutto Campionato Europeo con l'Italia (per colpa di Sacchi) e alla fine il suo nome non venne preso in considerazione. Poteva vincerlo anche nel '98, ma si infortunò nella finale di Champions e fece un Mondiale mediocre perché non aveva ancora recuperato fisicamente. E di nuovo il pallone d'oro gli sfuggì...
