Introduced in 1983, the AK74 bayonet represents a further refinement of the AKM bayonet. Continued improvements in plastics technology enabled a return to the one-piece molded plastic grip. The AK74 grip has a stippled non-slip surface, with concentric ridges that serve as finger grooves; and, incorporates a plastic version of the Type II pommel. Improved ergonomics made the retention strap unnecessary. The AK74 introduced a radical blade cross-section, that has a flat milled on one side near the edge and a corresponding flat milled on the opposite side near the false edge. The blade has a spear point and the usual hole for use as a wire-cutter. An inspection mark is stamped on the ricasso. The scabbard is similar to the Type II scabbard.
The AK74 bayonet has only been produced by Bulgaria and Russia (shown above), where it remains in service today. Bulgaria produced an AK74 bayonet for Iraq that uses nylon webbing for the belt hanger!

I have 3 of these: one Russian, one Romanian and one Bulgarian. They are so well made that they almost appear to be made at the same factory, even though their appearances are slightly different. I've known of their performance level for years and actively encourage others to buy them. These knives work just as well as the rifle they attach to.

Their MSRP as of now I'm seeing a average of ~$200 I copped one for 120 off gunbroker which looks unissued. Just got to get the cosmoline off and it'll serve me well in SHTF or if I need it as a bayonet on my 74 when ammo is unavailable.

Привет из России. Следует помнить, что все же они нужны для того, чтобы сделать в человеке несколько отверстий, не предусмотренных природой. А так - можно в качестве молотка использовать. А если у тебя из рыжего бакелита, то о нижний край ножен, на торце, можно спичку зажечь - если тот край предварительно потереть пилой на обухе клинка)

Его еще можно использовать, как молоток. Вставляем нож кольцом в ножны - и он не вылетит оттуда при замахе для удара, так как изнутри удерживается пружиной.

По уставу в армии их не точат. Лично ты заточить можешь, но вот только....пружина в ножнах штыка будет тупить лезвие. И да. Как ты будешь точить кромку? Она ведь односторонняя, справа обычно.

Quick question, what type of AK bayonet or bayonets should I go for if I want one with a bakelite scabbard, steel pommel, and sawtooth spine along with any other features in conjunction with these features (I’m not an AK bayonet historian.)? Preferably (Although not mandatory) with a spear point blade.

There is no ak spearpoint bayonet. I suggest a serbian/yugoslavian type bayonets

Если нужен с копьеобразным лезвием - то такой, как в видео. В России он называется по индексу - 6Х5. В странах-участницах социалистического лагеря, который был СССР, их очень много. Качеством не сильно различаются.

Does it come sharp? I've heard that most of them come with a pretty or very dull edge and that it would take ages to sharpen them.

Bayonets are not exactly ment to be sharp. They are ment to be strong so that way when you stick the bayonet into an enemy's ribcage, it can snap the ribs and cause as much pain as possible.

The m9 is better, buy the one in ultimate arms gear or ontario. That will chop a tree down.

4 questions. 1. Where can I buy this bayonet for the cheapest price? 2. How would you go about sharpening the sawback teeth? 3. I’ve heard some people say the sawteeth can be used to cut steel, so can the teeth be efficiently used for such a task? 4. What kind of steel is the bayonet made of?

Zach In my opinion, a 6x4 bayonet better than a 6x5. The 6x5 blades are longer, but thinner than than the 6x4 blades

Отвечу на 2 и 3 вопрос. У нас в армии эти штыки вообще не точат - ни лезвия, ни пилы. Для резки стали использовать можно. Смотря, какая сталь. Этот штык - детище людей, прошедших величайшую войну. Этим все сказано.

My father's machete do a better cutting work, but it's very cool to see the bayonet "special hability" to be used as a scissors to cut barbed wire.

It's definitely a saw, because how often would the average soldier get into a knife fight, compared to how many times would he need a tool that can saw through wood and cut through rope?

cody perret there are many different AK47/AKM/AK74 bayonets available for quite cheaply. Including Soviet/Russian, Czechoslovakian, Bulgarian, Hungary, China, Egypt, Yugoslavia, Poland, N.Korea, etc.

Пила на штык ноже не для дерева!!!))))) пила на обухе нужна для того чтоб распилить например кабель, или железо (машина например), алюминий там, канаты толстые, вообщем пила для экстренных случаев, как правило жизнь сама подскажет в какой ситуации её использовать, но точно не дерево пилить
