This helped me ! Thank you. You just place all the sounds that you want to cut each other off in it’s own mute group and the ones that you don’t leave them out the group, but put the master polyphony on poly and the mute group on money. The sound out of the group is set poly in the mute group tab. Man this took me forever to get ! Coming from the MPC 300 we just place the pad to poly or mono.

thanks a bunch. i tried to mix mono and polyphony in relation to each other in the same drum program to be able to play melodies and chopped drums at the same time in a program. But i was totaly barking up the wrong tree. mute groups it is! feels a bit silly since i already used mute groups for having open and closed hihat cancelling eah other out.

Nailed it and it so simple. thank you. is there a way to manipulate the mute groups and chokes in a cool way by making some loop and some pads/samples one shots. Also, once a samples key has been determined can you use that sound in the sample in pad perform mode and make it a chord if that makes sense? thanks again your content has been very helpful

Watch my latest video Black and white sessions, I use the mute groups to create some glitch and stutter effects. Once you determine a sample key, make sure you go to the sample edit and assign that key to the sample, after that you can use that sample with 16 levels or in a keygroup.

I'm trying to do a similar thing but with key groups. I want my chord progressions to cut each other off but the chords overlap no matter what mute group they're in. Is there a way around this each chord pad cuts the other off?

MPC HEADZ last one easy one the 🎹 edit grid you put midi can u change the keys to have the corresponding keys or just the c key view only option just wondering and also ways if you know to add scales mpc doesn’t have like arabic? Just random question while thinking thx again 💨

You have the pitch quantise now, you can use that to change keys, you can find it in the Main screen, tap on the pencil net to the track. Cannot add scales unfortunately, but that would be great to see.

Different question. Sometimes I do fader moves and don’t realize I’m in REC. LOOP. and it automates my fader moves. I HATE THAT. I can’t seem to figure how to erase that. Hope I didn’t confuse you with my Q.

That's tricky. If you notice straight away that you recorded the automation the best thing is to hit the undo right away. If not it can get tricky. Try using the list edit or the erase button to delete automation. With the erase button it will delete every automation in the track.

You just rerecord with automation held to static motion [ie: stillness] or while recording, hold erase while touching the automation in question. Boom two solutions

No, that is a lot of hard work and it never sounds perfect. But there are ways. No magical way....

Some instruments are monophonic by nature. In fact they cannot produce more than one not at a time. Examples are of many synth's.
