I remember coming across Akala's FITB when it came out (at about the age of 14/15) and it completely influenced my life without me even realising it (until I revisited it around a year or 2 ago). It gave me further ambition, edged me in the right direction. I don't come from a really well educated family but my older brothers always pushed me to be better than them. My brothers didn't do great in school, hung around with the wrong type of people but they taught me from their mistakes. The spark of encouragement that this one freestyle gave me ignited a fire under my ass & made me WANT to learn. I'm the second in my family (youngest sibling) to finish University. But I learned so much more from this FITB than any school could have taught me. So much respect for Akala and I've not even seen/met this man in person. And my brothers... they're my ride or dies, self-made men... role models. Dope video, nuff love from the UK. Easiest sub in a long time!

I really love good quality rappers and agree with everything you are saying about the genre, as it’s what kind of puts me off the scene in general. Also, as someone who is not well acquainted with a lot of different rap artists etc, I miss a lot of the references, and word plays etc, so your breakdowns really help me appreciate the artists skill even more. I think Akala is one of those people throughout history who just need to be listened to, however you find them. I'm not that into hip hop / rap and I found Akala from a TV show where he was just a guest, and he just kind of enchanted me with his blatant knowledgeable truths.

I love Akala and I'm mainly a metalhead. Everyone who listens to him starts talking about civil rights, black history and the politics of materialism, instead of thinking about platinum and packing heat. He's a spiritual leader. I'll take this over 50cent's bullshit all day long.
