That is one of the world's stupidest insults. Basically, "You're not allowed to be a socialist if you are reasonably successful in life because the only socialists are losers. If someone successful calls themself a socialist then that makes my head hurt". Just tell yourself he's lying if it makes you feel better. (Has he claimed to be a socialist?)
