I played when it first came out and was addicted until Inazuma released and got really fatigued since I played almost every day. I play once every month or so, but I actually miss mindlessly playing this game in it's early days when I was genuinely addicted to the exploration and grinding.

As a fellow 1.0 player, getting Diluc during that time makes you the envy of everyone. And boy oh boy, I remember those events that required resin. It was just so bad, esp we only had 120 back then. Ohhh, good times 😂

I remember the release of 1.2 so vividly. It was the first map expansion and it was insane. Also the community meltdown about how OP ganyu's charged attack was was crazy

Seeing Liyue for the first time after so many hours in Mondstadt.. I arrived at night like you did in the video, so I just see a beautiful port city bathed in golden lights. Truly an incredible moment for me and I just.. stood there on the hill near the city, basking in the music, wondering what sort of amazing story beats would unfold. Genshin will always hold a special place in my heart, which has only become more true with how amazing the story has gotten. P.S.: RIP Signora. A lost opportunity for a playable character that the fanbase will never recover from. They better make Arlecchino playable or I swear to g--

The ending section going over the transition from Mondstat to Liyue makes me so nostalgic ughdkghkdhgkd I was i m m e r s e d idk what it was about it all,, maybe just the fact that I wasn’t powerful yet and everything including mechanics and lore felt like it was shrouded in mystery and sacred I hope they do something to recapture that feeling of staggering awe and mystery

I remember doing the whole Dragonspine quest and exploring like 80% of it all during Christmas eve. Feels like yesterday

Dude there’s just something about when we all started playing. Idk if we just loved it because we were new and excited for everything or if it genuinely was much better, everything back then was just so fun to me; joining random people on co op, getting joined by high ars that would kill ur monsters in a second, actually being interested in doing quests, having friends to usually play with, watching chill streamers, getting so excited about new characters.. I just wanna go back and do it all again man😭 this got me in my feels

I remember my cousin and I using Kaeya to get to the island by taking turns freezing the water, thinking "wow it really let's us go this far huh" the entire way. Also my cousin wanted to explore and collect all of the anemoculus on the right side of Mondstadt before continuing the story, so he did it all without the glider and was pretty annoyed when he found out.

I remember joining when Albedo’s first banner dropped in 1.2, and it was such a wonderful time to play Genshin back then. It genuinely felt so full of joy. I’d love to do it all again.

Started playing in late 1.0, here are some of my memories from the early game (1.0, 1.1, 1.2) -Exploring Liyue during online class (my excuse was “I can still listen to the lecture” (I did not)) -Couldn’t defeat Dvalin because I wouldn’t dodge the bubbles -Watching videos with me and my brother when dragonspine was going to release being extremely excited -After that we explored dragonspine and my brother had to tell me a million times that the lanterns don’t heat me up (After that I wouldn’t care about coldness so my characters would die of frostbite) -Pulled on Childe’s banner thinking I could get Klee since she was my favorite character at the time -Zhongli became my brother’s favorite character, and when he pulled for Zhongli he lost the 50/50 to Jean. When I pulled on Zhongli’s banner just for Xinyan I got Zhongli accidentally (I literally have C1 Zhongli because I wanted to get the 4*s in his banner) -Trying to do the delivery event but for some reason if my feet touch a puddle of water the food is somehow “inedible” wtf Paimon just let me get the primogems -Had to get my brother to fight Childe for me because at the time a sheet of toilet paper did more DMG than my characters -Pulled on Albedo’s banner and got Bennett. I put this here because guess the next time I got a Bennett. Yup it was in 3.5 in March. 2 years for one constellation of a 4 star that I was trying to get kinda crazy -Played the Albedo event that came with dragonspine but I was too lazy to complete it fully so my inventory forever has a cursed R3 Festering Desire -The first time I beat a Ruin Guard with my LVL 40 Amber I legit celebrated -Not having enough stamina to run for shit -Chests respawning -Saw the “Getting Ayaka at AR42” thing and thought “that’s kinda wack” -Watched the videos of those bugs that sent you flying in the air And now…version 3.6., my friends list is filled with “last online 31 days ago”, including my brother who got me into the game. At this point I’ve basically sworn myself to play this game until the end so I can go through the full Genshin experience

Even as a late joiner I can relate to "walking into Liyue Harbour and the music suddenly changes with the city" feeling. You don't really get that feeling anymore these days. Fontine could've had one of those moments but the start of the quest is just exposition and cutscene hell.

I remember all of this 😂. And honestly it was hilarious and very nostalgic. I still remember first lantern rite and the fact that you could make xiao lanterns, I made like 500+ of them back then and I’m glad I did. As you can’t make them anymore. My personal tradition is to go to random travelers worlds and release a few every lantern rite. And it’s honestly an amazing feeling when you come across a random traveler who remembers them. And the messages of sheer wonder from people who don’t. So if you are on Europe servers and you see a random trying to join around lantern rite. You never know it could be me. Sadly I only have around 200 left now. 😢 I wish that hoyo would let me replace my stock

I remember some of these. Fuck man 1.0-1.6 genshin was enjoyable as hell.

This makes me feel like I'm an old man... I am walking through my memories. I see all the high and low parts of my life in Genshin.... Everything. I walk through my childhood, an enthralling adventure when I got to know this world. I see my early years fly by, then I go into Abyss. I see all my characters, wonder what they will do. I keep going, pass by some hard times. I am getting older. Eventually I make it to the present. I feel like I just summed up my entire life. I am tired. I sit down on a chair...peaceful.

Elemental Crucible was my first coop experience. As someone who started about a month late, it was impressive back then to see Keqings and Dilucs carrying the entire thing to finish each match quickly

When Ganyu's first banner run was out, people were clowning or warning those pulling for her because "her damage seems whack" and things along those lines. I lost the 50/50 and got Diluc. Shortly after the banner run ended everyone started realizing that Ganyu is the strongest DPS yet from those who showcased Ganyu's play.

Holy crap I remember so much of this...the artifacts falling on the ground was actually so satisfying. Also I remember the community speculating Ganyu was just going to be "Cryo Amber" before 1.2 and was hesitant to pull her until I tried her out during the trial.

Being AR56 rn, and having started 10 days into 1.0, this was such a blast from the past. can't believe 3 years have passed. A shame *ALL* the people that i started playing with are gone from the game. Kinda feels like zhongli reminising about that damn wine, a bit sad, a bit happy even if I stop playing, genshin will be a fond memory of a time that everything was wrong, but we hoped for better days. Such a weird takeaway from a mobile gacha game, but i guess most people that started back then would agree. Thank you for reminding me and making me reminisce so fondly about Genshin.

I started right after the 1 anniversary of the game. I remember I had no idea how to get to Liyue so I ended up running through Dragonspine trying to avoid enemies because I was only like level 20. Then later I realized the actual path to Liyue was by the Dawn Winery 😂

it’s so crazy to think myself and many many others have spent nearly 3 years playing this game. i played it 2 weeks after launch and i was 13 at the time, i’m 16 now so genshin impact is technically a childhood game for me

Ahaha, thank you for this. Diluc being king, Venti mains being a menace. It brought back a lot of memories. I joined two weeks into 1.0, I was enticed by the open-world aspect and story of the game. One of my most memorable moments was during Xiangling's story quest. I messed up whilst trying to cook Jade Parcels, and ran out of Lotus Heads. I remember going back to the same pond but they still haven't respawn. Then after looking up where I could get them, I decided to go to Liyue. I didn't pass through Stone Gate because I was scared, I passed through the cliff mountain and into the then still-sealed Sal Terrae, I was amazed at the sights and music as I crossed the border, and then well... walked towards Liyue City to get some Lotus Heads and finish the quest. Ahaha, sorry for the stupid long story but it was a fun memory for me. Speaking of Xiangling, miHoYo never brought back her "ring-ring" bells huh. I remember a lot of people complaining about it, weird since Albedo and Sucrose had them as well, and still has them. Sad, it was really cute. Also, remember Unreconciled Stars? Meteor event, Scara's first appearance. I remember Genshin being divided about whether Fischl's chuuni talk was annoying or cute. I personally found it cute. How about Childe being able to one-shot you? They had to nerf him because of the complaints, aha. Oh, and Oceanid being the hardest (or at least most annoying) boss at the time? I started playing this year but have known about the game for a while so it's interesting for me to hear about what happened in the earlier versions, not even the content but also the stuff going on in the community. I kinda sped through the early game and don't remember much of it but my favorite part was gliding into Qingce village for the first time. Just the change of atmosphere from the dark and spooky Wuwang hill and seeing it clear up to see a beautiful, colorful valley gets me everytime.

Also Diluc's chicken didn't have enemy tracking so whenever you used it on an enemy that was right in front of you, Diluc would just fire it off into either left or right randomly. Nowadays there is so much assist aim (that cannot be turned off) that when you just want to break churl towers or barriers for the balloons, your character turns even 180° just to attack the nearest enemy even if you are actively holding down a directional button to where you actually want to aim.... Days were different before :)

Nice trip down the memory lane. Some things you show us were only in beta, not in released game. Panda Guoba, Ayaka jumping out of the fround, Mona's outfit, Klee's walk, all these were not there on release. But yeah, physical Xiangling and Fischl, that was exactly my team by then. And it even sort of worked after I learned to drop their pets whenever possible. I still have that crescent pike too. There are still lots of people who believe chests respawn. I guess they're not much into exploration, that may explain it. 12:00 - I actually flew to that island, then I wondered why others have so much of a problem with it. Yeah I used to have Amber in my party and no idea about her passive. And Dragonspine, yeah. I actually liked that placeholder mountain a lot so before the patch I made several photos of it thinking the replacement would look worse.

Somewhere back in 1.0-1.2, I had a person join my world for the first time. They had Mona and I was insanely jealous of her sprint. We both just ran around and jumped to communicate because I didn't know the chat button existed and I think neither did they. Eventually they left but I made sure to friend them. A few days later, I check my friends list and theyre just... gone. I was genuinely upset about that for a while... still makes me sad to this day.

As someone who only started playing in 2.5 of all Versions, seeing this is honestly quite unbelievable. Everything was much more simpler back then and even with the simplicity, the game still had its faults. It kinda makes me think if Honkai Star Rail is also in a similar position. Regardless, I'm kinda glad that I started a year later with Genshin because not only did I not care about the game at the time especially since those that did play the game would constantly be shat on, but despite the amount of content, it wasn't enough content. And now that Version 4.0, AKA Fontaine, is coming out next week, I'm hyped to see what other kinds of content will come out for this rollercoaster of a game.

The gameplay back then was so different from now. It felt really like a open world game where battles took so long but yet felt so cool because you where fighting with like xiangling and your amazing 4 star weapon. It was really cool and that was the reason I fell in love with the game.

What a blast it's been Aka, I still remember tuning in to your Xiao hype stream back in 1.3. I'd often play your stream and videos in the background while I explored Liyue and Mondstadt. Will forever hold 1.0-1.6 closely to my heart with how much joy it brought to everyone during quarantine. I've played on and off since 2.0; with 5 months break in between as I was enjoying other games like FFXIV. Just caught up to sumeru quest recently and trying to enjoy the feeling of exploring new zones again. That said, I'd love to have new people to play with again since my friends have moved on from genshin so lmk if anyone's interested!

I remember the exploration thing because I used to do it and was rather annoyed with I put the characters I needed to explore, and couldn't play until finished. So imagine the shock on my face when I realised that they got rid of this 😶

As someone who's been playing since 1.0 as well, this was truly nostalgic...I remember nearly all of this, except for the Elemental Crucible event because I was intimidated by co-op; having to use resin to play the events though was truly insanity lmfao

I use to watch a lot of genshin videos in 2020, but i didn’t have enough storage for it so I missed a lot of in game hype. I loved watching all the theory videos with klee walking around and throwing bombs, she was a really popular character for videos and I barely remember any place than Mondstadt. I’m sure Liyue was there back then but there were so little characters compared to now and it’s crazy going back to all the things i never got to experience myself.

i started playing during 1.0 and i was 16 back then, im 20 now, and it doesnt even feel like it LOL. the magic of the game's early days when no one really knew what was happening is unmatched.. discovering everything myself for the first time by just playing the game, and not able to even imagine that we would travel through 7 nations of teyvat, but today we are at number 5. this game will always have a special place in my heart despite the bad reputation it may have, because it was the perfect escape during quarantine.

One thing that I think Genshin does still really well to this day is the exploration aspect. Exploring the new regions is always fun. Though I dislike that for a while they always seem to add some kind of gimmick to the regions that stop you from feely exploring them (like items you need to get or even level up). Don't get me wrong, I like the sidequests even though I find it sad they aren't voiced, but sometimes I am just not in the mood for sidequests and just want to explore the new region and getting blocked so often is a bit annoying imo. But in general the exploration stayed fun since 1.0 and is definitely the thing that I always look forward to the most when a new version comes out. However, one thing that won't come back for me is obviously the fact that there will never be a place that feels to hard to get through. Wherever I go I can beat the enemies. So that sense of danger that you still had in 1.0 is sadly gone.

idk why but 1.0 felt like it lasted longer than other versions. And when dragonspine came out it felt so big, i remember playing only on dragonspine doing everything for like 2 weeks. Now there is new area and i sleep.

Rerolled 7 times for Diluc, then weeks later watching a C6 Noelle destroyed coop was heart breaking and inspirational at the same time.

The transition from Mondstadt to Liyue will always be a core memory to me. It was raining and thundering when I approached the Statue of Seven. I remember getting killed real fast since I was underleveled. Fun times.

I started playing at around 1.2 when Dragon Spine came out. The character that got me into the game was Jean, and as I learned more and more about the game I started thinking: "Yea, let's get her!". It took me until the summer of 2022... And I also have a C4 Diluc... Gosh this game brought me so many memories.

i wasn't around during 1.0 (i actually didn't start until December 2021) but parts of this video was definitely still nostalgic for me. it's cool to see how Genshin was before too!

I still remember getting Klee as my first 5 star, when she was pretty much the strongest character of the game, the release of Dragonspine and the amazing feeling I had exploring this region, the first time I saw Ganyu in the Liyue quest and decided I wanted to get her when she had just been leaked, the first leaks with Kazuha, Rosaria, Yun Jin, Mimi (rest in peace Mimi)... I feel so old now 😅 I'm so nostalgic I kept all the lanterns I crafted during the first lantern rite... But I think Genshin has evolved pretty well despite what everyone can say, if I told myself two and a half years ago that I would still be playing this game today, I wouldn't have believed it...😊

This is a very good video. I played the game as soon as it came out and I remember having to wait so many hours just to play the game. Well, I played early but I also missed some of the major events at the same time. I came back to play and also left multiple times throughout the years. But now, I'm trying to stick with the game for as long as possible since the region of my favorite element (Fontaine) is coming out in just maybe 2 months.

As someone who has been playing since the very beginning (Not including the Beta), it is amazing to look back when reaching AR45 was a major achievement and you had officially reached endgame, whereas now most consistent players are AR 55+ and the endgame is still the same. On another note the best addition to the game was allowing you to actually hold down the button to add weapon exp instead of spam clicking it. That was a nightmare

11:53 Istg I spent ONE HOUR (I'm not even joking, I remember looking at the time) trying to kill that thing with Amber only and at some point I got bored of running and shooting arrows in its eye (I was doing a max of like 40 dmg with each hit) so I climbed on some tall ruin and stayed there and dropped Barron bunnies until the ruin guard finally died. Edit: oh yeah, and I died about 3 times and kept trying. After that I avoided ruin guards in the open world like the plague until like AR 40

started right after 1.1 began and regretted missing all the launch patch rewards but i remember so many of the stuff you pointed out. truly one for the mmrs

I started playing exactly two days after release and this is absolutely spot on. I remember arguing with my friends about how there was no way that villain characters would be made playable, and then the release Childe in the next patch. Also the unveiling of Dragonspine, the magic of encountering Liyue Harbor for the first time, etc. I have to admit that I was extraordinarily pissed when Inazuma came out because I wanted to just leg it there, but it was locked behind a quest. I still don't know if Sumeru had any prerequisite quests because I did everything beforehand. Some other memories from the 1.0 patches: -The sense of community was incredibly strong. I remember people joining my world and joining other people's worlds not to get materials or participate in events/do domains, but literally just to help new people get acclimated to the game easier. Handing out advice, explaining how things like artifacts worked, etc. -Exploring every new aspect of the map was incredibly magical and I couldn't get enough of it. I feel like its lost some of that same charm (Inazuma and Sumeru just didn't invoke that sense of wonder), though, which is sad. -Another debate that was incredibly hot between my friends was whether or not Albedo's quest (which served as a lead-in to Dragonspine) actually had a proper cutscene in it, like all other story quests. -The utter hype of the first Lantern Rite. -Xiangling and Zhongli being the only polearm characters. -The.... food event.... -Xiangling being one of my favorite characters to use because of her ringing bells. -The first story event being the meteor one.... I'm sure there's nothing here I haven't said that hasn't already been pointed out, but man, the list is long. 1.0 was forever ago, and those early early patches (1.0, 1.1, 1.2) were just something else entirely. It really was incredible. Flawed, absolutely, but incredible.

my first experience with liyue was very different from yours since i got beaten up by monsters and fatui lol. altho this definitely made me nostalgic also, barbara definitely carried the team back in the day! i remember grinding to beat abyss level 3 to get xiangling and it was so damn difficult. not knowing anything about phys damage resistance and trying to defeat the thousands winds ruin guard with noelle, everyone else already long dead but noelle had shields and could heal so she seemed like the best option, she also doesn't generate much energy herself so it took SO long and i maybe eat a hundred sunsettias. i also didn't realise you level up your weapons until wayy later. i'm still having fun now after coming back from a break, but genshin in those days just hit different. it's one of those "you don't know you're in the good times until they are already gone" things

I started in 1.2 Dragonspine. Very unique experience especially amidst the online class quarantine shenanigans. Some of my notable experiences are - Painfully cutting through Dragonspine to get to Liyue's Katherine because I didn't know there was a different and easier way to get there - Dying to sheer cold and freezing myself for the millionth time because Barbara's heals can get you frozen, also she's the only one that can prevent me from dying from sheer cold in the first place - Getting R1 Festering Desire, unable to get the rest of the refinements because it was just too hard at the time. Immediately regrets not getting its refinements because it worked soooo well on both anemo and geo traveler - Trying to climb to the top of Dragonspine then getting pulled back down because you weren't supposed to do that - Friend who played since launch carrying me on weekly bosses every monday, because otherwise I'll just die - The sheer pain of losing the 50/50 for the very first time (Got Mona on Ganyu's first banner) - The sheer joy of getting the 5 star I wanted (Hu Tao's first banner) - Getting my first god roll artifact after farming for weeeeeeekkkkksssss Andddd mannnnyyyyy mooooooreeeeee. Early Genshin is so nostalgic and fun, however today it just isn't the same anymore. Right now, I have far less free time as it is no longer quarantine and exploration is feeling like a chore and just isn't fun anymore. Genshin pre-Inazuma was a completely different experience and I'd do anything to go back to it :(

Very nostalgic. I quit in 1.5 and am returning to see fontaine but I still remember so many of these so well. The chest respawning was always a hot topic and I had streamers in the background arguing with their chat about chest respawns while I did my rock farming across mondstat and liyue like a degen on 2 accounts.

Btw, on elemental crucible, you'd lose your cubes if you got affected by an element that could react with the cubes, meaning you had to be very careful with using Barbara's healing

This video actually helped me remember some of the stuff I did during 1.0, sometimes I forget I played this game since 2020. I can't tell you how many game bugs I encountered back then although wish I can describe it in detail I took a break after 8 million players or something, I sure miss my special glider and other stuff I had. Several months after i took my break, i lost my account due to two factor issues cause my phone uh lets say did not survive and being months I lost my two factor code, so I lost my account and was really sad so I stopped playing and then I came back thinking, you know what this time I'm going to beat my first account in everything. SO here I am restarting for the third time as I played another region for some friends. 3 accounts past level 30 is a real strain sometimes, my newest account is almost level 40, I never got past it before so kinda excited. Genshin impact really has some memories from me.
