The AKG K240 Studio Headphones are good cheap studio headphones for under 100$! I have had these studio headphones for a while now and while I do want some better ones, the AKG K240 Studio Headphones were probably the best budget studio headphones to start with. Hope you enjoy the AKG K240 studio headphones review video and thanks for tuning in today to my guitar gear and music channel.

I bought my K240 Studio back when the COVID lockdown happened. I was not disappointed at all! I still use them today (2023). They are very comfortable; I could wear them for extended hours on end without realizing I have them on. The cable can be unplugged from the left channel side, making cable management a lot easier and I really like that. It sounds just awesome for anything you throw at it. One thing to note: This is NOT a bass heavy set of headphones. It is designed for both the audio enthusiast and professional studio engineer in mind. I use mine for recording, editing and listening to music all the time. So, if you're wanting bass-deafening quality, then go spend your money on something else, like a pair of Beats. This produces every frequency (within its specs) faithfully; so about as near a flat response across the frequency range. One thing to mention: When you get yours brand new, you may want to do a burn-in period with them. Most headphones sound pretty loud at the start, then quiet down as you use them. This is the burn-in period. What I did was playback either white or pink noise for a few hours or days at medium volume until they're burned-in. This assures you get a faithful equal balance of tone. It's your choice to do this, though. The only thing I'd recommend is invest at some time for replacement earpads (leather and foam) and an extra detachable cord, in case you lose one or it breaks. Luckily, this is quite a popular model headphone, so replacement parts are plentiful. Other than that, you won't be disappointed.

I have them a few years. They are very clear, for example for learning language it is very useful, you will hear every detail. I agree, they are good for listening guitar, but for example piano is poor with them. They are very accurate, sometimes even too much, you can hear when something isn't perfect and it's why eq isn't good for them. For me big disadvantage is that they almost don't have bass, it is caused by semi-open construction. There is no noise cancelling and everyone hears what you are playing.

I have had these for years and have not had any thing break on them. Surprisingly for how light these headphones are, they're incredibly durable. If you like bass in your headphones don't get these. These are flat sounding which is great for mixing and leveling.

Would you recommend them for gaming and watching movies?
@warpath4813
@warpath4813 3 жыл бұрын
@@TooFurious4 To be honest you'll probably benefit from a closed back set of headphones for gaming or movies. These are more for referencing music when mixing. So I think you could find something better for gaming or movies. I use them for gaming but they're better headphones designed more for that. The reason I use them for gaming also is because they're the only headphones I have right now. The cord is extra long which is cool. They sound great but everyone around your can hear your headphones lol due to the open back design. I just think there's better for gaming and movies due to these lacking in bass and that surround sound feel.

They are not studio headphones. The tone is not realistic. There is a lack in midrange so vocals sound cold and thin. The treble is a little too much. Lacks bass. I don't think they're worth the hype.

I have these and have used them awhile now in my little studio.. The trick is you have to get used them and the sound they are projecting wants that is accomplished your going to loved them takes time to pin point them... I used sure 440 for years and the last pair went crazy as they all do and I had theses Akg k240s here and thought what the hell give it a shot... Totally different sound here compared to the sure... Had to learn them and hear and feel what they were projecting towards me... I don't think i be going back to Shure as theses things rock in my book as far as I can tell ... Price range is closed to the shure 440s..... But don't go getting me wrong them 440s are awesome you hear it all in them .. I would recommend them to anyone for the home hobbies studio persons. I just don't want to go back to the learning process of using them again.... My AkG K240 or working out great for my needs....

RIP XLR cable. I'm not seeing that cable survinig long with that break angle in it lol. Not to mention the shock mount becomes useless when the mic is pegged like that. Try leaving some slack on that XLR, it's going to make the cable survive longer and let you shock mount actually handle the vibrations. Nice review, tho!

i switched to the velour pads. much more comfortable, the plasticleather ones feel quite stiff to me. after that also a little bit more bass was present, but still the mids and highs were a little bit too harsh for my taste. i put some pulp between the driver and the overlay, and now it's really pleasant. i wear them even for normal music listening and filmwatching now all day/evening long. also i'd like to mention, the akgs have the most clever way to swap the earpads.

For practicing or casual listening, any set of headphones will (subjectively) do. For studio work, however, it all depends on what you're doing. For tracking (recording) with microphones, these headphones are not the best choice because of their semi-open back design. The sound can bleed out and back into the mic, causing a feedback loop. Open- or semi-open back headphones are better suited for mixing/mastering/post-production duties.

True that! Great advice!

i dont think these are particularly useful for mixing since the bass is anemic and its not flat, but these headphones are a great all rounder for everything, and you can definitely mix if you're in a pinch. where these really shine (in my experience) is vocal tracking, referencing mixes, indoor recording, and direct monitoring insturments while you play. they're also comfortable as sin, and you can wear them for hours without ear fatigue (depends on your ear shape though, some people say the driver touches their ear but thats not an issue with me) these headphones are just made to tackle so many different fields at once, no wonder they're a studio staple!

I don’t mean this comment impersonally or offensive but as I’ve though about it, AirPods are more expensive and might be more dynamic but are considered casual listening. This, to me, seems to indicate these are just an upgrade from any run of the mill cheaply made set of headphones. They will get your foot in the door but not much else sadly.

It depends what sort of listener you are, tastes vary with everything. I am a producer, and got them as mixing phones, but they have come to be my staple over time for all listening, and every time I use different stuff...the stage is lacking by comparison. The details in these are great..IMHO, everyone has their own interests. For me they are not lacking in the spectrum, they just show it flat and true, where most consumer grade phones do a lot of boosting in certain frequencies. Once I learned them and how they translate on other systems I am hooked. And they are a nice price to get started with. Blessings whatever way you go!

Are they durable, did you use the same pair and they never broke the 2-3 years? I am using these to make music and do gaming overall do you think they would work for what I am looking for? What comes in the box? Does it come with the proper plugs for a PHONE?

In your experience, what makes them bad for mixing and EQ tone wise? You said that the EQ done with K240 differs too much on other systems, in what way?
@DevanBishop
@DevanBishop 3 жыл бұрын
The EQ sounds different through these headphones then it does through other devices. I think there are low frequencies that are left out. They are only bad if the eq isn’t checked on other devices before releasing the finished product.

@@DevanBishop As soon as you confirmed that they are not bottom heavy I bought them ;) What interface do you use? The ones that are consumer grade (like Focusrite 2i4 or Steinberg U44) have phone outputs geared towards low impedance, high sensitivity headphones that people have laying around because they bought them for their mobile phones / laptops with weak integrated audio cards. K240 are probably a bit harder to drive properly. Obviously they are not 600 Ohm beasts, but I've seen couple reviews where people said that their bass response gets fuller when they are driven by a proper headphone amp. I will test it out as soon as they arrive :)

Sadly, there was one problem - the cable kept breaking. I wanted to get something new and I was wondering about those AKG K240 Studio. Do you think those would perform as good as 681Evo?
