A few extra notes that I feel I didn't cover:
1. Surprisingly lightweight despite their size. At first I thought they were a little heavy, then I got actually heavy headphones and now I barely notice it.
2. They are rather rugged headphones, very durable. I'm not afraid of taking these with me during travel, nice.
3. All electret drivers will die eventually, because they lose their charge. However, the amount of time it takes before that happens is so long that it's not something that's going to be a concern in our lifetime.

My favourite headphones. I literally sold off my whole collection (including about 8 AKG cans) because these were the only ones I used. Upgraded to nice plush pads and equalize a bit to give a bit more bottom end. I prefer them over even most of the modern headphones. .... Picked up recently a pair of rare K500 and currently comparing the two.... Thanks for the video!

My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it. I also try to boost the bottom end a little more. I noticed that it was lacking somewhat whenever I listened to electronic music. I'm currently doing a mini-series where I perform a variety of mods that I found on the website Headfi that are supposed to improve the sound somewhat. The first video I did was replacing the elastics and the pads, and right now I'm waiting for a few more parts to come in the mail to make a replacement cable.

@@thecreatorismI heard that the condenser boomer needs good power at 2 x 400 ohms. I read that it requires 600ohms at 150 mV phone output to have the boomer to operate at his full potential. An Spl Crismon can be a good combo with it.

Personally, I like the partially coiled cable. 1.) I normally hate coiled cables. They will pull anything not secured before the fully stretch, and they will pull anything away from you if you aren't holding it, and it has too much tension. Then they almost always get kinked and knotted. Last, they are usually perceived heavier because all the weight is more condensed. 2.) Cables that are 6 ft long are a PITA to deal with for normal desktop operations. They take alot of space, and can get snagged. The partial coil allows better flexibility with length, without having to worry about the spring action the coils have.
