Hashtag United are a one-of-a-kind football and esports club, based in Essex, England. Formed in 2016 by Spencer Owen as a group of mates playing exhibition games, we now play in the 8th tier of English football, the Isthmian League North. We won our league in our first season in non-league football and were looking good for a second promotion when the 2019/20 season was voided, but after the 2020/21 season went the same way with us top of the Essex Senior League, we were eventually awarded promotion based on PPG over the two part seasons. We merged with AFC Basildon Women in summer 2020 and formed our women's team, Hashtag United FC Women, who play in the 4th tier of women's football, the FA Women's National League Division 1 South East. We also now have 40+ youth teams, reserve and development teams...and not forgetting our esports team who play FIFA at the world's highest level. Even if he's just around the club would be huge. Young players getting tips and motivation from a former pro player could be incredible for their career. And obviously help the team get closer to where they want to be as well

Imagine that Foster, Akinfenwa and Azpilicueta (isin't Azpi quite close with Spense, got him tickets for WC2018) all playing for Hashtag in the next year or so. That would be great, would surely piss off all the other teams as well 😂. "Hashtag United the RB Leipzig of lower league football".

Just based on this video, even if it’s only a handful of times throughout the season, it would be awesome to have him as almost like a consultant/coach when his schedule allows for it. This was amazing though! What a top class man.

He's a unique player. There's never been anyone like him before and probably never will be again. It's only right that he got to play for this unique club. So, so gutted that i couldn't make it to the game. It's been more than ten years since I got to see him play. #beastmode #upthetags

I remember when I went from 4g to regular wet grass pitch I was mind blown at how different it was. Completely understand what he's talking about. I was used to nice bounce of the ball, speedy rolling etc then went to the complete opposite. Some parts were sluggish and other parts completely slippery. Just a whole other story.

Love his attitude seen him many times re my club Blackpool and always enjoyed his performances wish more professional players came back down the pyramid passing on their skills and knowledge. Good luck for the season guys.

Bayo could be something like a training staff cause he encourages the players, he gives them motivation and he has the same mindset as Hashtag has. So I think that Bayo shouldn't leave the club completely

More than what he could do on the pitch, his experience and presence are so much more valuable to the club. Seeing how he's helping the other players, passing on his wealth of knowledge, that's something that's irreplaceable.

Massive respect to Bayo for doing this! Love to see it! Shame he can't manage a full season with us, but it's totally understandable given his age, and the stress the professional game must have put on his body over the years. As others have said, hopefully he can still be a part of Hashtag in other ways, be it coaching, commentary or occasional appearances in videos/challenges etc. Man's a Hashtag legend! He needs to be part of the club in some way! #⃣💙💛

I worked with Wycombe's media team last season. Bayo is a proper gent & professional. His first touch is so underrated. Guaranteed goals playing off him from the long GK. Hope to see more of him in a Hashtag shirt.

I have only been involved with Hashtag for under a year. That evening was amazing. Having watched him for Swansea and now the Tags. The man is so friendly, but I am not suprised being a friend of Spencer. #UpTheTags

Not been a Wycombe fan ever, but Bayo Akinfenwa is the most loveable and personable guy ever. Now his football career is done he is already smashing the TV and radio market. He is a media man's dream, upbeat, on point and funny. Have a long career sir from someone you could easily drop.

Unbelievable to see the Beast come to Hashtag. I personally think a contract of player/coach would be perfect. I am sure you have talked about that too. Because he could only play maybe 10-15 games in a season and as a coach, he would be vital. Also, perhaps the biggest thing is, if he played and coached, the marketing aspect of that I think will pull more people to the stadium and to this channel. But that’s just my thoughts. Trusting the system. Cmon Hashtag!!!

Football will miss Akinfenwa. You can tell he's a good bloke in every sense of the word, and even like many have said in the comments, just having him around from time to time would be huge. You really need someone who can inject that kind of 'big brother' energy... someone who just says it how it is and riles the players up a bit to play for each other and truly give 100% - that kinda stuff really does make you make that one run in a game that without someone like Bayo around, you probably wouldn't. Best of luck to him in all his future ventures. UTT!

Nice to see how cool he was with the hashtag players giving good advice and showing them appreciation when he could've just come in and been "yeah I'm just here to do my 45 minutes." Shame he can't join but think it's good that he isn't pushing himself to try it either and that Spen is putting their friendship above trying to milk him for whatever his body has left.

Shame Adebayo didn’t join but testament to the beast that he played!! From first ever manager to for Spencer Fc dubbing the ‘man mountain’ rich Beck to then playing when through painkillers… what a man!! I hope hashtag could sign mark noble?? For Spencer… But maybe Jack Wilshere or like a Kayhnon Edwards - young youth striker on loan… Keep up the great work - don’t forget to hasthag it!!!

Whatever capacity it's in - coaching, advisor, player, even literally just a hypeman😂, having Akinfenwa around the club occasionally would just be awesome! Incredible athlete and professional, great player, has so much game intelligence and just generally such a positive influence for all those around him.

As a groundman I can tell you 4g surface causing more injuries is no myth. There is 0 give in the profile..for example when making a tackle the impact of your foot on grass will rip the surface allowing your foot to come to a more steady stop on 4g the moment your studs get within the rubber crumb - game over. The foot will stop instantly with the rest of your momentum carrying on through causing alot of minor injuries and I've seen a few major ones which wouldn't have been if on grass. However, 4g pitches are huge money makers, often a large portion of money made by clubs is through pitch hire.

Full credit to Spencer for getting Akinfenwa to play for 45 mins. You never know maybe down the line he could come back on the coaching team. We have a fantastic set of players. Not just the regulars from last season but the new players that have come in so far are mustard. Hopefully we can build on last season and boy we have the quality running through the club at every level, mens, women and youth.
