The Akrapovic Stainless Steel Slip On Exhaust for the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R3 takes the already good looks of the all new Yamaha to the next level. This Yamaha slip-on exhaust is street legal and requires very little effort to install. The Akrapovic Slip-On exhaust system is designed for riders who do not want to make major modifications to their stock exhaust system. However, this motorcycle slip-on exhaust delivers great looks as well as increased performance for your bike.

Tools needed:
1. 5mm hex
2. 6mm hex
3. 10mm hex
4. 12mm hex
5. Anti-Seize
6. Maxima MPPL or WD-40
7. Shop Towels
Install Instructions:
1. Remove trim pieces from stock exhaust with 5mm hex 1:45
2. Loosen barrel clamp with 10mm hex 2:22
3. Remove passenger foot-peg mounting bolt with 12mm hex and wrench 2:42
4. Remove stock exhaust from bike 3:18
5. Place gasket inside bottom end of mid-pipe 3:44
6. Slide barrel clamp onto bottom end of mid-pipe. Using anti-sieze on threads of barrel clamp 3:49
7. Slide exhaust onto muffler box 4:20
8. Mounting canister to passenger foot-peg mount 4:30
9. Tighten down barrel clamp with 10mm hex 5:15
10. Using Maxima MPPL, WD-40, or similar, wipe down the exhaust to remove any grease or finger prints before firing up the bike
11. Re-install exhaust trim panel with 5mm hex

For those , whose scare water will get inside , I tested by pouring in 1/2 bottle of water . It still worked when I turned the bike on . Do not worry , they make a very good job .

Bought the Akrapovic slip on less than 3 weeks ago from you guys and holy shit, there is a huge difference in sound. At first, I thought a full system was better but after riding with this little slip-on for 20 minutes I changed my mind regarding the full system. Trust me, you will get a lot of good sound from this R3 by putting that slip-on instead of having to buy an expensive full system and add a fuel controller etc. You also save a lot of money while getting plenty of good sound which is loud enough on the streets! Can fully recommend this slip-on from Akrapovic!

Good stuff, I just picked up a Red R3 here in Jersey to keep my 2012 S1000RR company. And I have to admit, the R3 is alot more fun to ride on the street and canyons than a Beast like the RR, which is meant for the Track. Looking forward to all the goodies you put on this R3....Bravo !!

Vman I have to say I like it and feel it looks great! Remember this is an affordable bike that is awesome, a slip on is what make sense for most with this bike. put 641 miles on my slip on. installed before leaving the dealership. I ride with earplugs on for helmet noise, so I can't really appreciate the sound. I must sound bad ass when i'm on the road or highway and people are looking at the bike and thinking WTF? R3? I did ride to the gas station without earplugs under helmet and it's a mini-GP! I love the look of this slip-on over the full exhaust muffler, I wish Akrapovic made the header to fit this slip on. I would install that in a heartbeat. STG, great how-to's, subbed.

The carbon can will be a little quieter than the smaller full stainless slip on. Beyond that the main difference will be the style of the muffler. The Stainless version is the most popular one for sure. - Van

I'd go full system with a better canister. That looks like the end pipe that's missing the muffler. Sure is light weight though, but no option for db killer? That Akropovic slip-on needs a rain cap! Oh, I watched the Yoshi full system install and I have to tell you that the Yamaha fairing there is a PITA! 3-4-5 pieces that you had to remove? JESUS! That's one reason I'd rather buy the CB300R, even the F model - no fairing in the way on the F model and the R model is a LOT simpler for maintenance purposes. I thought my Interceptor was a pain! Whoa! I did a full system install of the Akropovic dual exhaust full race system on my 2011 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 in about an hour. Akropovic over Yoshi any day of the week, IMO. I did hear you say that you were going to install a Power Commander on the Yoshi system? I called Akropovic before I bought the race system and they made it clear that their race system needed no mods on my Ninja. They were right. Only mod was taking out the silencers!

What can i use to cover the exhaust from rain so the rain water wont go inside the exhaust and ruin the bike

+Muaz Muzzammil Tukimat Well the rain water won't ruin the motorcycle as it cannot get up into the motor. There is a chance a slight amount of water can collect in the link pipe but it would just be blown out/ evaporate before causing any damage. If you are concerned about it sitting outside in the rain you could always use a plastic grocery bag and a rubber band to keep out any liquid!

Not an issue to worry about. If anything gets in there when the motor is off it will blow right out when you start it. Water is a byproduct of combustion so the exhaust will not be damaged. - Van

Hello right after I installed this liquid was dripping from the middle of the exhaust so I tightened it (I think it was fuel) but now there's a lot of white smoke coming out of my r3 with the akrapovic slip on. Is it because of the slip on or is it my bike( I didn't have white smoke with stock exhaust)

Assuming the bike ran good before you installed the slip on I would say water is what you were seeing. This should stop once the bike has warmed up a bit. Water is a byproduct of combustion and it is not uncommon to see a few drops. The white smoke from the tail pipe should be pretty minimal and more visible if the temps are cooler. - Van

This is a part supplied by Akra with the slip on. If you have a system missing the gasket contact the retailer you bought it from and ask them to sort that out for you. They may need to exchange the system if they can not get this gasket from Akra for you. - Van

Loved your video.. My Yamaha R3 gives a mileage of 22-26 kmpl at present with basic exhaust. If I use the akrepovic exhaust on my bike how much will it effect my mileage?

Fuel mileage is not something I pay any attention to on our project bikes. We are doing the majority of riding at the track on them so range is not an issue. The Akrapovic is a great pipe and will work great on the bike. - Brian Van

No this is designed to fit the Yamaha R3. You need to go to the KTM dealer for any Akra stuff as they will not sell it to us. - Van

I do have nmax version2 2020. I want to buy an aftermarket pipe. Do I need to buy also the full system exhaust or not? I am worried I might damage the engine. if yes, should I tune the afr or not? if no, should I tune the afr or not?

A full system will not damage the engine without tuning. We had a full system on the STG R3 and rode it quite a bit before we turned it into a race bike and had it tuned. Zero damage. - Van

With this or any other slip on there is no need to do any tuning. Find the slip on you like, install and enjoy the ride. - Van

Hi Brian. I have an MT-03 and would like to know if you can actually feel the difference with the Akrapovic. I mean 1 bhp and 2kgs doesn't sound a great deal. Can you notice the difference in performance?

+ewooll I got the 016 MT 03 as I think the stork pipe looks nicer than this small arkro. And the sound are not as dramatic as the big ones.

ewooll I put this on my MT03. Sound difference is the same as this video. I did not expect much difference in performance, but was surprised when I could get the bike going just by releasing the clutch slowly without any throttle. I do not recall being able to do that before...

No these are all bike specific applications. You would need one designed for that model. - Van

Sweet sexy exhaust. But I would have gone with a matte black exhaust. Would have looked soo bad ass. Don't know if akro makes them in black, if not competition werkes is an alternative.
