I got the season pass as a gift for Christmas, but I haven’t tried it yet. It’s on my post Christmas to-do list, though. It’s quickly become one of my top fighting games ever, right up there with DBFZ and Smash Ultimate. I'm always saddened when I see steamcharts show how small players are on average, though I always take it with a grain of salt. I love the game, so I hope the new season's pass pulls in a new audience
@KillYounglings2 жыл бұрын
That's pretty much the genre in general. Even though dozens of games have fairly active scenes and regular tournaments, every year there's only ever around 5 or so fighting games that can consistently pull in a 4-digit daily avg. player number on Steam. Those games are usually big IPs or new releases from a big developer, while many other fighting games are in the triple digits. Skullgirls is really one of the luckier ones that has managed to keep triple digit average for a whole decade, and is really the only indie fighting game to do so. Skullgirls and Blazblue have shared a similar curve over the years too, where a big sale or announcement will occasionally bump them up to 4-digits for a little while, (Skullgirls had a big spike last year from EVO+Season Pass, and then Blazblue got a huge spike in the last couple months from the netcode patch) but eventually things end up leveling-off around the triple digits again. Even the new Melty Blood shares this situation.
@Arlo5.132 жыл бұрын
I mean, luckily with solid netcode you often don't need crazy player counts to have a solid experience. Really, you only need one person with a solid connection to you! And if you were to cycle through each of the ~50 or so viable connections you'll still be spending a lot of time fighting different players with different characters and playstyles! While it's a bummer sometimes that fighting games aren't more popular, they're also in a bit of a unique situation compared to team games or battle royales in that you don't necessarily NEED a ton of players to still have a great experience (but it's definitely a plus for sure) 🙂

As far as fighting game story modes go (and the arcade type, not guilty gear movie type), I think Skullgirls has one of the best in terms of storytelling and presentation. That BunnyAyumi (she's a fucking nutcase) situation showed me how crazy cancel culture is, and just how easy it is to accuse and brand someone a sexual harasser. The Skullgirls story will go down in FGC history as the game that even if beaten down will always get up and bring more hype and life into the fight. I haven’t watched an EscapingtheWorkforce Stream in a long time, I think I need to go back to get entertained again.

the story are well written, and all character and thier back story are unique and not repetitive except Filia with "Hair" power concept, which kinda common. but this is first time i see a hair talking in fighting game, so its still unique. 😂
@Ninja-The-Red-Shinobi2 жыл бұрын
Filia is the joke combination of Milia Rage and Zato-1 from Guilty Gear. In fact a majority of the references in Skullgirls is tied to other fighting games like Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, and Marvel vs Capcom.

Honestly, this game is just TOO GOOD. The characters all slap. I have the opposite type of character crisis for this game that I get for smash. Where it feels like I wanna play Half the skullgirls cast because they all slap. Probably my favorite fighting game that isn’t named CVS2. It is a tough spot since it’s also having Guilty Gear +R and Street Fighter 4. Great video and keep up the content. Amazing analysis of the game’s lifespan so far

@@unintentionally_edgy5867 @Unintentionally_ Edgy @Unintentionally_ Edgy Nah, it wasn't the wrong move. His company wanted to fire him or have him resign, and he agreed to do so if certain terms were met that benefited him. Those terms werent accepted, so he pulled rank and did things his way. It's HIS company. You can't fire a guy from his company for unsubstantiated allegations. You can't blame him for protecting his interests. Put yourself in his shoes? Would you quit your company if you were accused of sexual misconduct, yet it was unsubstantiated? Wouldn't you then fire and layoff anyone who was against you? Common sense.
@unintentionally_edgy58672 жыл бұрын
@@shinbakihanma2749 …okay, I’ll bite. So even if there was no harassment, which given a lot of factors would appear unlikely, and even if it was a smart idea to layoff everyone “against you”, it still was such an unpopular decision a lot of people quit, and joined up with those laid off. That’s not even bringing up that saying “terms that benefitted him” sound like he wants to make off with more money instead of being recompense for the damage to his image. I’d love to see how you spin that fact into somehow defending someone who doesn’t even respect coworkers and after not getting his way, taking power and firing people for what, to my little knowledge of laws, sounds like illegal reasonings. Edit: oh yeah, and that’s after conceding I don’t know if those allegations were true, but you immediately said they were false
@shinbakihanma27492 жыл бұрын
@@unintentionally_edgy5867 First off, I'm not trying to "defend" Mike Z in anything. I'm not his keeper. I'm just making my point of view known due to what was said in this video, because I feel he was unfairly thrown under the bus with no due process. But as far as this topic is concerned, your response is nonsensical. What I'm saying is why would Mike Z. think about anyone else's wellbeing when those same people aren't thinking about his? These same employees were accusing him of multiple instances of sexual misconduct, and were trying to oust him from HIS company, yet there was nothing to ever substantiate these accusations. It's not unreasonable to understand why he would fire everyone. Why would he keep and be concerned about employees who accuse him of sexual misconduct, and are ready to throw him under the bus? Put yourself in his shoes, you'd do the same thing. Now, what makes me question the validity of these accusations, is the text messages between Mike Z and BunnyAyumi. That's what kind of kicked everything off. I read those texts when the accusations first surfaced, and I was dumbfounded with how many people were saying that his texts were sexually inappropriate, when they were clearly not. Not to mention that BunnyAyumi (who has a history of playing victim) initiated contact with him, and now all of sudden she posts these texts claiming he said sexually inappropriate things to her in them. The reactions from the FGC when they cancelled him, made me realize that everyone is out of their fucking minds. My common sense while reading into it as it was happening told me something was off. Mike Z is an awkward nerd dude who isn't used to talking to chicks. That isn't a crime.
