Guyana is a sparsely populated nation that never had economically viable amounts of oil.
That all changed with a significant discovery in 2015.
Al Jazeera's John Hendren travelled to Guyana's capital to interview the nation’s president, Irfaan Ali.

How come they never mention how much percentage the Americans gas companies getting, , Guyana already bout fifty billion dollars in debt to the oil companies, Guyana would not see any profits until that debt is paid off or if it will ever be paid off ,
@ususa8052
@ususa8052 Жыл бұрын
@@ironhorse6688 Here's the figures: Exxon (Esso/Prod Guyana) - 45% Hess (Guyana) - 30% CNOOC(China) - 25% From the figures above, since EXXON and HESS are both US owned, we can see that America pretty much has control of Guyana's oil. Reports are between 2021-2022, they produced approximately 11 billion barrels which made the country the 7th largest in South America. HOW MUCH of those sales are considered 'profit' for Guyanaese depends on the debt payment arrangements AND the government of the day. UNFORTUNATELY, Guyana's history with corruption is deeper than her oil wells.

More than 60% of the population is in poverty. Minimum wage is set at 70,000 GYD equivalent to approximately 350 USD per month and Guyana is only receiving 2% of Royalty from oil revenues. They are selling the people a lie while the government reap tremendously. But this is what we have to settle for because the previous administration was worse.

Was Guyana supposed to develop a hundred & fifty years of technology overnight? Same as in Russia's Siberia, there was oil but the Russians didn't have the technology to develop it under such frigid conditions. The oil companies do the exploration, development and extraction and the people or the "Government" reap the rewards. For doing nothing... other than the Guyana workers employed there who reap even more direct rewards.

Sadly Eco tourism is not as sexy as blue sea and beach tourism like the Caribbean, without a blue sea and few beaches, its a hard sell for any other than eco. The other issue with oil revenue and building infrastructure projects is you need a population to spend and generate wealth, with less than a million folks that is going to be difficult to justify. Build it and they will come is probably the only realist solution but "they coming" would have to be a 2000% increase in population. Its going to be interesting to see how this plays out in the next decade.

Is it about Afro Guyanese, when we had APNU in office? If so what did they do us, Afro Guyanese? Nothing as usual. If you don’t know the PNC/PNCR/APNU were in office for in almost the same amount of years as the PPPC. But every time the PNC/PNCR/APNU were in office, what did they do for us, AFRO GUYANESE. Nothing, except fulling their own pockets and grabbing land for themselves. And they also were giving most of the contracts to East Indian contractors. Look at land that the finance minister, Winston Jordan give away to BK, the East Indian businessman. Plus, the same APNU refused to give the okay to the Afro Guyanese businessman, Colin Abrams, who wanted to operate an airline from Guyana to Cuba while they were in office. Because they are black and we are black, do we have to stay gullible and not hold them, accountable. You can continue to keep your head in the sand for the rest of your life.
