The Alabama Crimson Tide just made a great hire in former UNC RB coach Robert Gillespie! Gillespie has a history of getting awesome results and looks to continue that at Alabama.

Coach Saban regardless of how many coaches he loses always setups when hiring the replacements. Saban is still not done hiring his staff. I hope he hires Pruitt back as an analyst so he can rehab his career.

I hear you, but I believe the SEC would block it much like they have Freeze. With these allegations (If they prove to be true of course) it will be hard for him to just land back in the SEC, but I could be wrong!

@@aroundthetablesports Right now the only testimony that Tennessee has is from an unknown inside source. The NCAA has not charged Pruitt with anything yet but the investigation is still ongoing. As you know Pruitt has hired a high profile attorney to defend him. During the Tennessee news release that was held by the schools President, Chancellor and AD they were asked if there was any evidence that Pruitt was directly involved in the illegal recruiting violations and the answer was no. But they did state because he was the HC he is still responsible for the actions of his staff. I totally agree with that statement. The reason why I mentioned Coach Saban could hire him back as an Analyst is because they fall under a complete different set of guidelines versus on field coaching positions. But if the NCAA rules that he was simply a bad HC with poor leadership oversight resulting in his staff individually participating in rogue recruiting practices then that would open the door for an on field coaching position. Regardless of the outcome Tennessee is going to get sanctioned by the NCAA. Right now it is a waiting game.

@@garysmith8098 Gary I have always had respect for Pruitt. I actually was shocked when the allegations came out at Tennessee. There have been a back story brewing for a couple of months that Tennessee wanted to get rid of Pruitt but they did not want to pay his buyout. But if they could fire him for cause the school would not be obligated to pay his buyout. Some people in the media that have close ties to the school has openly stated if Pruitt had a winning season the self reporting would never have taken place. Right now I am just going to wait and see what the outcome will be.

Oh yeah, a slam dunk hire. I mean the University of North Carolina is known for their great running backs...........And somewhere Burton Burns is laughing his ass off. A RB's coach is hired for his ability to recruit; bottom line. I don't give a damn what he may or may not know about the position, at this level a RB's coach can't make the RB faster, bigger, or more durable. The only thing a RB's coach can teach is basically how to block; which is secondary to what he's actually recruited to do. So if Gillespie can recruit that's his highest value as a RB's coach.
@aroundthetablesports
@aroundthetablesports 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not really worried about him as a recruiter. If you have a guy that has worked with the likes of Carter, Williams, Hurd, and Kamara who is now at Alabama where they churn out RB's that is a super hard offer to deny. Add into the mix that he played the position at a high level for an SEC squad I think is a big plus!
@claudelwashington3725
@claudelwashington3725 3 жыл бұрын
@@aroundthetablesports Hey bro, I hope you're right. And you probably are. But I think you'll have to admit that the ability to recruit has been the hallmark of the Tide's position coaches over the years. I hate to sound redundant but once again, a RB's coach does serve a purpose. However that purpose is number one recruiting. Take a look at the Tide's RB's under Saban. Burton Burns will go down as probably the greatest RB's coach of all time, but it will be based off his ability to recruit top tier RB's. There wasn't much any coach could do to make Derrick Henry any better outside of blocking. A kid 6'3 225 that could can run a 4.5/40 is what he is. I was lucky enough to listen to Joe Kines speak at an event years ago in Columbus, Ga. (it was actually in 2007 which was Coach Saban's first year) but he was the DC when Cornelius Bennett was playing for the Tide and he said the only instructions as far as practice was concerned for CB was just to make sure he knew what time practice started and that was all the coaching he needed. And I think the same applies to Bama's RB's. Coaching our RB's is basically just making sure they know what time practice starts. The hard part is recruiting players such as Camar Wheaton. And as long as whomever coaches the RB's can recruit at a high level that's all that matters.
