"This video is for educational and entertainment purposes only. All guns displayed off the range are safety checked and only displayed pointing in safe directions. All footage at the range is private range and the gun is handled by a Range Officer certified by the National Range Officer Institute. This video is not promoting or attempting to sell guns. Sale of guns is heavily regulated and I am not associated with any federally licensed firearms dealer. The actions of all firearms displayed are unmodified and presented as commonly available from original equipment manufacturers. This video is not instructional on building or modifying firearms. Nothing has been done to increase the rate of fire or lethality of the firearms displayed nor would I advocate making such modification as it presents a huge liability and potential risk of harm or death."

In the video you mentioned a larger OBJ lens number gives you a larger FOV. It's the opposite, a larger number doesn't give you a larger field of view, it gives you a much smaller FOV but more distance. A smaller 19mm lens will give you a much larger field of view then say a 45 mm lens but you can't reach as far. The smaller 19/ 25mm lens with a larger FOV is the way to go if you hunt pigs coyotes that are on the move. A larger 45mm lens with a smaller FOV is great for hunting deer at distance while sitting in a stand etc....

It would be nice if one channel on KZfaq would actually show the V2 ts25 or 19 in (-256 ), considering that's the one 90 % of us can actually afford. No point in seeing the higher-end sensors when only 10% of their customers can afford them ..

I opted for the AGM Varmint LRF TS50-640. For $700 more you get the built in laser range finder and it works great. My first night hog hunts were an amazing time. This is my first thermal and I could not be happier with the quality. For those of you shooting 300BO sub sonics, remember these two things: 1 - you can NOT obtain DOF when looking through a thermal scope. 2 - The bullet drop of a 220gr sub sonic round is ~15 inches at 150 yards. The range finder is a savior at distance!

Most man hunter ( mil spec) reticles have a 28" spread at 100m ( avg military sized mans sholder width ) eg acog Christmas tree is a range finder. match his shoulders to a line that matches and that is how far he is . For the outdoorsman same same but a typical deers ribcage.

$700 is a spendy LRF. But I guess if you have the cash to go with a $3000+ unit then it's not as big of a concern as if it were a $1200 model.

Yes if one has money growing off trees 🌳 by all means by the Bently or the $4,000 dollar unit instead of the $1200 hundred dollar unit with a hundred dollar hand held lrf. I mean if I can afford a Lamborghini I'd prefer that over my 06 explorer

I want to see if we can identify targets and engage them out to at least 500, so we shall see. You. may even be able to go farther but I haven't tried, I will also say that's really where the 640 with the sharper image is going to help too. You must be looking at wraith mini in nv with an IR light, not thermal. and those aren't no comparison to what he's reviewing here with thermal scopes... Digital NV is basically a camera converted into a nv scope so long as you have a bright IR light turned on for the world to see. With thermal nobody sees you at all, animals people nobody 👍🏼

@Farrow2332
@Farrow2332 3 ай бұрын
If you can find a stl file for what you need, I can print it. I just got a 3d printer but I’m still learning how to design. I’m assuming it would be best to be able to mount the battery holder to the gun itself out of the way if it’s possible
@MustPassTruck
@MustPassTruck 3 ай бұрын
@@Farrow2332 along the stock kind of like a shotgun shell holder would seem a good place to start. Lowest profile batter would be best. Need to figure out what voltage these scopes use. 18/20V tool batteries might need an inverter or alteration. A hobby grade RC car battery might be better too.

4:30 The use of proprietary batteries is a deal breaker for me. While better than non-replaceable batteries, proprietary batteries always have issues with cost and availability. These units are not replaced like cell phones. I have a late 1990s NVD that is still usable because it takes AA batteries. The V1 models will be usable 20 years from now with their 123 batteries. Will the V2s work then? Will USB power be their only option as the batteries wear out with no replacements? It's planned obsolescence. I'd love to be wrong, but am afraid I'm not. The V1s can already take rechargeable 123s. Sticking with that would have been the way to go IMHO.

Rattler V1 is better than V2 for 1 important reason, it uses CR123 and if you need more run time use an external power bank. I won't buy anything with a built in or proprietary battery. Look what they did with cell phones. I could buy a new battery for my old phone (that still works) for $14. New phone with built in battery went bad I had to buy a new phone for $1,000. That's not an improvement, it's a way to get MO MONEY for these companies

Sir, what you’re seeing is thermal delta. If an animal is the same temp as his surroundings there’s reduced fidelity. Often times the desert animals will be cooler than the surroundings, as well. Just have to know when your thermal crossovers are and keep that in mind for target acquisition. Happy hunting and love your channel.

Yeah that can go either way, the old Rattler took CR123s but you only got like 4 hours of battery life without an external battery pack, which most people ran. It always seems like you’re having to choose between a commonly available battery or long battery life and valid arguments can be made either way. AGM does have different models that take standardized batteries. Thanks for watching!

Why not turn them all to the same zoom for an accurate comparison of what the bigger objective lenz dose , we are paying (just a gess) $1k /cm bigger. it would be nice to know before popping out that much cheddar for what in your vid appears to be ⅓less fild for a 25mm bigger objective lenz. 3rd repeat of same shot would have been nice for a max zoom comparison wile discussing the image quality.
