If the state troopers & security really wanted to stop that goalposts from coming down, they would have stopped it! If you watch when the kick is good, there is a guy standing right at the goalpost and takes that padding off as soon as he sees the kick is good! It was planned! Lolz This was one of the most awesome sights I have seen in a while And I'm even happier that my son was there and able to be part of the celebration. He was 11 in 2006!

@@gabelincoln3608 Security was not in on any “plan”. 1st off 4 or 5 guys can’t stop the number of fans that hit the field. 2nd they know from past experience that if the fans hit the field after a win like this then the goal posts are coming down, they’ll be taken out of the stadium, paraded down Cumberland Ave & dumped into the River. Happened before several times. Also if you noticed Security didn’t worry initially about goalposts. Their primary concern at first was getting the Alabama players & coaches safely off the field. They did that & then turned their attention to the goalposts.

@bigelile07

Not according to this.... Goal Posts Dismantled The first known dismantling of the goal posts at Shields-Watkins Field followed the November 1935 Vanderbilt victory over UT (13-7) when the four-inch, iron-pipe goal posts, embedded in concrete, were snapped off by Commodore fans who surged onto the field following the game. On November 8, 1958, when the University of Chattanooga (later, UT at Chattanooga) upset UT, Chattanooga fans tore down the goal posts, which were little more than posts with a bar across. Other assaults on the goal posts have included November 10, 1979, when the goal post at the north end was taken down following the UT victory over Notre Dame; November 22, 1980, when UT broke a four-game losing streak by beating Kentucky 45-14 in the final home game; October 16, 1982, when UT upset Alabama; September 28, 1985, when UT beat Auburn; November 30, 1985, when Vol fans flattened the fence around the field and took down the goal posts after UT beat Vanderbilt to win the SEC title (first since 1969) and go to the Sugar Bowl; September 30, 1989, when UT upset fourth-ranked Auburn; and September 19, 1998, when UT defeated second-ranked Florida in the first overtime game in Tennessee’s history.

I rushed the field in 1998 too. I was 19 years old, and I remember it like it was yesterday. I grew up in East Tennessee, and orange blood runs through my viens. I’m FSU Seminoles till I die..with that being said I’m still upset about 1998,but whenever the goal post comes down I love it….it’s tradition and traditions are the best things about college football I love

It's "tradition" to throw a goalpost in the river? I can't find that anywhere. Only "dismantling" them. BTW, I'll never forget wide right I & II 🤣

@@Manolo0528 Not according to Volopedia. And not one person that I have asked can point me in the direction of where there's been done in the past. No just words, but an actual website that says it. Dismantling yes. Dismantling, carrying it out of the stadium, and throwing it in the Tennessee River, no.

@@bigelile07 Never said it’s a historical tradition. It’s a recent tradition. It’s probably only the 3rd or 4th time its happened.

Everyone should get to feel the rush of storming a field at least once in their life. Except penn state fans...**** them. Hail to Pitt!

After searching my soul as a True Alabama fan I have come to a conclusion. Tennessee should be ranked no higher than 15th in the Nation. Bet
