About Disney Dinosaur:
When a meteor shower destroys their home, iguanodon Aladar and his family join a herd of dinosaurs heading for safety. As a kid we always see Kron as a villain; the big bad guy that the good guy defeats. But as an adult rewatching, you begin to realise that, whilst his methods were harsh and cruel, Kron was just doing everything he could to get the herd to the Nesting Grounds alive. He's been leading the herd, probably for many many years. It's always been tough, but now it's even tougher. He's trying to get them to their destination whilst also having to worry about the Predators, especially the Carnators now that they're actively following the herd. His motive "only the strong survive" begins to make more sense. When it's the lives of the entire herd, and one sickly, old dinosaur, Kron is obviously going to pick the Herd. They can't have any stragglers attracting the attention of predators, when the Herd is already tired and weakened from both the sun and their thirst. Nature can be very cruel; there's no room for the sick or dying. Best to leave them to their fate, for yours and the Herds safety. In comparison, Aladar has never even seen a herd before, nor has he ever had to brace the relentless heat of the sun, nor ever had to trek countless miles in a baking desert. But whilst Aladar may be young and a bit naive in his thinking; he cares for the lemurs and for the herd, especially Neera. But the trouble is that Kron is too stubborn to even listen to Aladar, when he tells them about a safer route to the Nesting Grounds; he'd rather try and force the Herd to climb the rocks then listen to some inexperienced outsider. Kron's stubbornness is what ultimately led to his demise; instead of joining with the herd and just admitting that he was wrong, he still tried to climb over the rocks, to prove that _he_ is the better leader, that _he_ is the one who knows what's best for the Herd. Which ultimately gave the Carno a chance to go after him - not only did his stubborness cost him his life, it almost got his sister killed too. All in all, Dinosaur managed to cast Kron in a grey area. He isn't overtly evil, but he isn't good either. He's just trying to survive in a harsh world, where surviving is key, and to do that, you must be harsh as well. Kron just didn't want to change, and it got him killed. Not only that, he never got the chance to see his nieces and nephews once they began to hatch. I truly hope Neera named one of the hatchlings after her brother.

There are quite a few villains in Media who, as kids, we believe are just that, villains who serve no purpose other than being unlikeable pieces of trash for the Hero to bring down, but as we grow up and learn more about the world, we begin to learn that sometimes, Morality isn't so black and white. While Kron WAS unpleasant, could be selfish, and was stubborn beyond anything else, he believed that everything he did, he did for the good of the herd. After all, as a leader, sometimes you have to make hard calls to ensure that you can save as many people as you can, and sometimes, that means cutting others loose and leaving them to their fates. Since Kron has been the leader of the pack for quite some time by the time the events of the movie take place, who knows how many hard calls he has had to make by then, which could have hardened him and turned him into the bitter, stubborn, resentful individual we saw. It really makes you think that...maybe he wasn't always like that. Maybe at one point in the past, maybe he was just like Aladar.

He was a bit of a Social Darwinist though. I mean he does say "we'll save the half that deserves to live." He's also quite prideful, only going along with his plans rather than Bruton and Aladdar's more practical plans.

Herbivores are aggressive. Example just look at elephants, hippos and buffalo especially Cape buffalo are extremely dangerous and would kill/attack without hesitation

You can tell here that Kron actually has some respect for Aladar, not just for finding the water but also for being strong and persistent enough to keep the slow and weak members of the herd up with the majority: he roars at all the other members of the herd to stay out of the water puddle, and he just tells aladar to get out of the way, albeit harshly.

That’s something I noticed as well. Unlike any of the other members of herd where Kron would’ve had to deal with extremely harshly, perhaps even kill them if necessary, Kron treated Aladar with an abundance of respect, even to the point where he didn’t alt right kill him when Aladar tried to convince the herd to stay put and let the others catch up. He threatened Aladar because he saw him as a valuable asset and a possible ally if he chose to stay in line. He saw Aladar’s worth, and recognized his ability to survive, but he also saw a rebellious nature to him and wanted to keep it in check.

@@tupakkaonhyvaa He actually did have respect. For example, when Aladar found water, Kron was respectful enough to just tell him to step aside, albeit bluntly, instead of being aggressive with him. Kron respected the fact that Aladar was able to find water and show at least some survival skills. Another example was how he treated Bruton with respect until he screwed up by leading the carnotaurs to the herds location. Sure, Kron could have shown Bruton a bit of grace in that moment, but what Bruton did was still quite foolish and stupid. Put simply, there is a certain level of respect that we ought to show everyone, but for the most part, respect is earned. Kron showed Aladar some respect early on because Aladar pulled his weight, showed promise, and was bold, and charismatic. He had some of the qualities of a leader - something that the herd needed. Kron was simply a realist in this story. Aladar was thinking about the individuals in the herd who were struggling, while Kron was thinking about the larger picture and the herd as a whole. Kron was simply doing what he thought was best for everyone, he understood that you simply can’t save everyone and that nature is merciless and cruel. And he wasn’t going to put up with anyone undermining his authority when he was trying to lead a massive herd through the desert while dying of hunger, thirst, and exposure to the elements. Someone had to be brutally honest with the herd and say that not everyone was going to make it. Someone had to make tough decisions such as leaving the sick and dying behind. Kron was not as bad as people make him out to be, and he did not deserve the death he received. So many people groan and moan about how you should do more to save lives in a crisis and essentially be a hero, then reality hits, and when you’re forced to make difficult decisions, you’re the villain.

Aladar is really like Simba they are Disney's Moses, He has a Leader's soul, he is compatisional , but Kron is not like him, he lives with the strong's law, Neera starts to fall in love with ALadar, They find water of the same way like Elephants in African desert !!!!! Owen Grady of Jurrasic World is like Aladar, they are intelligent, brave, they have a soul of a leader, they are handsome guys, they have green eyes like me, they always find a way out, they are very protector with those they love, they have grown into the nature with animals, Owen is the human version of Aladar

Same here lol. I don’t blame Zini for liking Big Girls that I do too myself like them Big for many reasons lol. Even though Baleen is old, she is still strong enough to break anything down for her age like she did breaking down the Big Rocks later on when they finally found the Nesting Grounds. Zini is a Legend for liking Big Girls though I have to admit lol.

0:09 In general this movie's designs are pretty good but god do the faces of the iguanodons in particular look... strange, sometimes. Seeing his lips stick together slightly from spit and the weird human-like contour on the lips makes him feel way too mammalian. It weirds me out. I never understand why they gave them solid lumps of teeth, either. They look wooden.

@@G4M3RG1RL73 Probably, and especially hard to make look good. They would have to make them expressive so they'd need to choose between making the beak... bendable and soft, or making the characters move only the fleshy part attached to the beak. Personally I prefer the second method- that owl movie, Guardians of Ga'hoole or whatever, uses that method and it works fine for animating talking and expression making. But I don't blame someone for wanting to avoid it entirely. Unfortunately it led to the iguanodons in this movie looking absolutely atrocious LOL But at least they didn't shrink wrap them- that'd make their faces even more nightmarish

Never watched the movie but what I've read from it was for how the longest time Kron has been doing the same job of moving around herds and dealing with such complications. Kron and Bruton were probably the closest and together since probably like the beginning of it but Kron was the one to always make the biggest and hardest decisions which Broton respects. They each have their roles and Bruton knows that Kron was best fit for that position

I have a feeling if they made a second movie of this, Kron would end up surviving for many years, and decides to join the herd again, I have alot of ideas for this movie since I've watched it when I was like 6 🧍 n I'm still Inlove w this movie, people said it was a bad movie, but honestly, I have a feeling they just didn't like how there were only dinosaurs and less "good-looking" characters for them to simp on 😅
