I agree with you, he has something surreal, of an universal beauty, very troubling. Also his personality and caracter is somehow special. Probably we will talk hundred of years about him, independently from his film success. Some people say he looks very masculine, some see him as feminine. Mostly because of his eyes, which are unique in the expression and in some way in a feminine shape - as I read (according to the definition and geom. proportion).

As Alain said once about himself, he is an ARTIST, not an actor. Naturally charismatic super talented - truly a gift given by God. And he gave Alain such a masculine beauty. just finished watching it today. August 21 2024. Long movie almost 3hrs. definitely one of the best movie of Alain Delon. This movie is about Brotherhood and Family. Y’all should watch it. 💯💯

This is a great film but actually its about the struggle a low class family is facing after war. But yes through the eyes of the roco and his brothers. Many italian directors center plots in the 50s and early 60s had to do with poverty italy was facing after war.

No, it isn't about Brotherhood and Family. Better: it isn't about only Brotherhood and Family. It's about the sense of vacuum emigrantes felt, the lost of their identity. It's about Italian internal emigration in 50-60s. It's a masterpiece. I think nobody has been able to narrate the loss of foreign worker. It's a very current theme!

Delon's character is like a human puppy in this film 😭 he started out with a heart so pure only to be confronted with the ugliest sides of the world so fast and so soon.. I wish he had taken more roles like Rocco, of softer, kind-hearted, but complex and tragic individuals. I remember reading an interview where he was saying that he basically played a saint in Rocco and His Brothers, adding that this character is very different from who he is as a person. I think that may be part of the reason why he shines so beautifully playing him.

Beautifully put! I completely agree. I adore his softer, more sensitive side explored in roles such as Rocco. His innocence and self-sacrificing nature made it all the more heart-wrenching to witness his brother's betrayal. This ranks high among Alain's strongest, most emotionally complex performances. 🤍

Ele fez o filme "La Prima Notte Di Quiete" acho que esse também mostra uma versão mais suave, doce e melancólica dele. Sem contar que neste, ele está mais velho e ainda bem bonito. Foi o primeiro filme com Delon que eu assisti e eu amei.

He was trapped by his own persona and myth after purple noon and le samurai. Even when he tried branching out, he no longer could bec his audience had bought into the myth and wouldn't accept him otherwise

Zero training. Came right off the streets of Pigalle District in France, living with female prostitutes. All the finest world-class directors wanted him. He turned down offers, but the directors encouraged. Thereafter, he never had to compete for a role. All the Hollywood stars hated auditioning. All of them. Alain was the highest paid French actor for years.

Hmm, i am definitely going to have to watch this one- his beauty leaps off the damn screen. It doesn’t matter how many pictures i see of this man, i NEVER get tired of looking at him. To add to the comments below- he has feminine traits/beauty but his demeanour/character/way of presenting himself is more of a cocky swagger and maybe a bit of a dark streak (if you look at his more candid shots). Masculine in personality, feminine in looks is apparently the winning combination, and rare.

Il a joué dans ce film comme dans les autres films pour oublier sa blessure qui ne se referme pas il vit le personnage pour etre cet autre pour avoir le gout de vivre une manière d échapper a cette période tres douloureuse de sa vie... A l heure actuelle il n y a pas d homme comme ça les autres me paraissent tres loin de ce qu on appelle acteur ils ne me font pas rever mais alors pas du tout zero nuls...
