Alan and Phill were a team on a Big Fat Quiz, and "I Am the One and Only" somehow got worked into the conversation. The intro and first line were all Alan knew of the song then, too.

It was a callback to earlier in the episode - when Simon introduced her he said something along the lines of "our producers assure us she'll be big by the time this episode airs. Too bad it's still November and none of us know who she is". (Except funnier than that.)

Otto Fabian They pre-recorded it before her album came out, there was a joke when he introduced her earlier in the program and said something like "we are assured by the time this airs everybody will know who she is"

I never know a single song or band this show mentions. And that is absolutely expected. A couple of 80's rock band names and a handful of music titles. That's all I know of music. Can't bother when 90% of 'music' is like rusty nails stabbing my ears.
