That is a good friend of mine, Tony Stephens, playing harmonica. Tony played with Alan's band, The Strayhorns, for about 16 yrs.. Was his Tour Manger for 14 yrs also.. Tony works at the Grand Ole Opry now. I was born & raised in the County just below where Alan was born & raised .. he is from Newnan, Ga .. about 25 miles North of where I grew up

Wow. I’m an audio engineer and this really surprised me. It’s not live per se, in that it’s been edited and had the audio mixed, but it seems to me the band actually did play live on the set. Super rare for a tv appearance like this, cool to see the real deal even though this isn’t my kind of music.

Tony played with AJ about 16 yrs.. was his Tour Manager for about 12 yrs.. he is now Technical Services Director at The Grand Ole Opry.. met Tony in Warm Springs, GA in 1976 when I was 13 yrs old.. he played in a band called Southern Ashe from Phenix City w/ guys he had grown up with.. they started playing together in about the 7th grade.. he is multi talented on Harmonica, Piano, Guitar, Fiddle, Mandolin, Pedal Steel guitar.. all self taught .. great musician.. Alan is originally from Coweta County, GA (Newnan).. County just above my home County of Meriwether
