The sad thing of this family is their daughter Mattie lost her husband Ben after just about a year of marriage in 2018. Jackson and his wife bought a house in Florida and the three kids were celebrating one of the daughters birthday and Ben was helping a lady on a boat and he slipped on the boat and fell backwards and suffered traumatic brain injuries and lived only two weeks until he died. Alan was said to have been completely devastated because hewas really close to Ben. They hunted and fished together. They never got over it.

I'm a huge Alan Jackson fan. I saw him recently on live show and was shocked to find he has become a victim of some kind of disabling disorder than is effecting his motor skills and isn't able to stand or walk very long. So he did nearly the entire show singing sitting on a stool. It was heartbreaking to see him going through this. But these are things we go through as we get older. He still sounded amazing. He had his wife near and looking on just smiling at him admiringly. Warmed my soul to see.

I remember when 30 seemed old and now at 56 thirty seems so young the baby of the family is now turning 32. I love this song I play it when I am out in the shop after working on the truck or the cars it makes my mind play back like movie the kids and now the grandkids. The hard times the good times the Kids growing up the moving out to start their own lives I though it would be great we have the house to ourselves but it was strange the house felt empty took a long time to get use to and most of all I missed them. I look at my wife across the driveway working on the garden I just smile and think Alan your right I would do it all again wouldn't change thing. I have had a great life and I am content with what we have and what been through made us stronger

I remember him saying that he and his wife took a huge step moving to Nashville in hopes of getting a big break there in his career. While there he said he held several jobs to try to pay the bills and went through a lot of hardships. One of his part time jobs was washing dishes at a local restaurants.

They were high school sweethearts & have been married 43 years & have 3 daughters. He has some fun tunes too! 'Five o'clock somewhere' & 'Chatahoochie' are a couple to start with.

Hey Mr., Alan Jackson grew up in the town where my Aunt & cousins live, Newnan, GA. He has a sorta silly song that was a hit called "Chattahoochee." It's a river that runs through Atlanta and SW toward Newnan. "Livin' On Love" & "Gone Country" are older, decent songs. I mostly listened to him in the 90s, so except for the 9/11 song, I've only heard "Drive" and "Remember When" through reactions. I do recommend "Tonight I Climbed the Walls" & "Someday" the most. "Midnight in Montgomery" has probably been suggested. "The Older I Get" is another good one...a story. "Here in the Real World" is good. He looks much younger since most are from 30+- years or so ago. "Chasin' that Neon Rainbow" is another good 'un. "Wanted" is really good but short. He sang "He Stopped Loving Her Today" at George Jones' funeral ("I Don't Need Your Rocking Chair"). "Don't Rock the Jukebox" & "Pop a Top" are fun songs. "Country Boy" is good but "A Country Boy Can Survive" is better. He performed "Blues Man" live with Hank Jr. (Bocephus...ha ha). I like "Between the Devil and Me." Hate the devil though. "Good Time" is another oldy but goody. Highly recommend, easy, fun song. "Mercury Blues" is highly recommended, too. "Precious Memories" is a good gospel cover, he did quite a few gospel songs. Country singers sing gospel the best out of any genre in my opinion. "Jim and Jack and Hank" is a goodie. Anyway, I mainly suggest "Tonight I Climbed the Walls," "Someday," "Gone Country," "Livin' on Love," "Here in the Real World," "Mercury Blues," "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow," "Good Time" and "Don't Rock the Juke Box." He has many duets with George Strait, Allison Krauss, The Zac Brown Band and Hank Jr. among others. You were talking about George Strait the other day...I'm sure "All My Exes Live in Texas" and "Amarillo by Morning" have been suggested so adding my vote, plus "Give it Away," my favorite. One of my absolute all time favorites! My husband and I are at the point where “we turn gray and the children move away”. Actually the children moved out well before we turned gray. Our youngest moved out to go to college We married exactly 2 weeks after my 19th birthday and here we are just over 41 years later. Four adult men (our sons) and two amazing grandsons. Has life been perfect, no….but I wouldn’t change a thing. We have so many “remember when” moments and look from making many more. Thank you for your lovely reaction.

Oh, how I love this song! The kids knew when it came on the radio that Mama was going to cry and sing. We danced to this at our daughter’s wedding.

Also consider “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” by the legendary Glen Campbell. It was his farewell song to his family as he battled Alzheimer’s. There’s also an amazing documentary about his battle that featured the song. The song was nominated for an Acadamy Award and the soundtrack won a Grammy. He passed in 2017. He had a remarkable career. 💔
