YESS! If any man deserved to be a father, it was our Alan. He would have loved his children so much and have been a wonderful father 😢

Here you all go again- Alan wanted children but Rima denied him. He was a GROWN MAN with choices; if he stayed with Rima despite the fact that she did not want children, that was a CHOICE he made and it is none of our business. He was with Rima since he was 19; he had plenty of time to find another woman with whom to have children, both before and after he became famous. If they had had children, Rima would have constantly been stuck at home with the kids while Alan was away making movies. How fair would that have been to HER??? And Alan also said that not having children allowed him the freedom to travel- that is not something that a person who is heartbroken over children would say. I admire Alan for seeing Rima as his equal partner and not a baby machine. You guys need to get over your jealousy of Rima and realize the fact that Alan made a CHOICE and is not a victim when it comes to his not having children.

He would have been a wonderful father and there's nothing wrong with us saying that! How dare you belittle his feelings and desires to have children! You think it never bothered him ever?? People give up a lot of things they deeply want, you think it doesn't bothers them?! I would think as much as he wanted children it came up real early in their relationship. And if she had said absolutely no I do not want children I don't think he would have stayed with her, but I believe she let him think that later on they might have children so he stayed willingly and then whether on purpose or not time ran out on them and then they couldn't have children. I will always point out what a wonderful father he would have been and how he loved children. You make it sound like it's wrong to mention that. It's wrong to trivialize his wish to have children.

Rima Horton certainly DID NOT LOVE him. I have been saying that FOR YEARS. But she was smart enough to get a hold of him knowing what a gentleman he was. Alan wanted a family and she certainly tricked him into believing that they would have a family some day so he stayed with her until it was too late. They never were that fairytale romance couple that Alan's fans were brainwashed to believe. His body language when he was around her speaks volumes. Never was he seen hugging her in public like he did with his friends and fellow actors. Her true colors showed when she published Alan's private diaries without his consent. Who would do that to a loved one just because they're gone? She could have done a documentary about him with people who knew him personally if she really wanted to honour him, not publish his private stuff for the whole world to read. He left her millions. Enough to donate to pancreatic cancer research without exposing his private life and thoughts to the public. Alan was a private man and she should know that more than anyone! No, she NEVER loved him. I am so glad more and more people are getting it.

Me too Tabitha, me too. He would of had his children and a dog, and we would gladly travel with him when he was filming, most of the time. His family would never be far from him! Like I've mentioned elsewhere, when they discuss why they don't have children and he mentions how he would have loved to of had a family, and how there was someone else involved he's not in this alone, there is another line before that last one which is quite telling. You won't see it quoted so much, but he said, "fatherhood isn't something I deliberately chose to avoid." He says he didn't deliberately choose to avoid fatherhood, and I believe Alan. He stayed because he was under the impression that they would have children someday. He obviously believed her, trusting man that he was, so he stayed with her, until it was too late. Maybe that explains why for 10 years in the late 80s and 90s, they lived in separate homes. Perhaps it came out at that point that she didn't want children after all. In fact, his family and friends were a little shocked thinking they were breaking up. Alan is quoted as saying, "we have to be apart to stay together." People say we don't know the whole story we weren't there, but we do know an awful lot because Alan has told us himself. There's a saying, "just listen to people they'll show you who they are." Alan said" if people want to know who I am, it's all in the work," it's there if you look for it. Look at his underlying theme in almost every movie he made that he chose to make. There's a sense of loss and unrequited love. Tabitha, I think you may be in one of my Alan Rickman groups on FB. You sound very similar!

He said he never deliberately chose not to be a father. Don't you think as important as this was to him, he wouldn't have brought the subject up early on in the relationship? Do you think he'd stay with her then, if he knew she didn't want children? Ofc not! They would just remain friends, unless she said you leave me we're not friends anymore... who knows? After finding out that she published his private diaries when she herself said she never read them which would be a big lie at the book event because the book was already out... If she can lie about that, if she lied about having children someday, then I have no problem believing that she disrespected his wishes about getting rid of his diaries when he died. She had to have known he would never have wanted those diaries published either by telling her directly or just because she knew who he was and would never want his private diaries made into a book for the world to see.. to me,, this shows how little he meant to her when he was alive or dead

In the end he didn't have a choice but accept her decision . He wouldn't leave her after so much history they had together. That's not who he was . He said fatherhood was not something he deliberately chose to avoid. Not having kids of his own cost him dearly and it was so admirable of him to stay in the relationship even though he got nothing from it except companionship. Not only did "the love of his life" deny him kids, she also refused to wear his wedding band ,she didn't stay at the hospital on his last New year's Eve ( that's in his diaries), she published his private diaries without his consent when he wanted them to be destroyed ( episode 61 Alan Rickman Last Days podcast on KZfaq). She betrayed and disrespected him and lied to him like she lied about having kids, like she lied about everything!!!! She led Alan to believe that they would have kids at some point so the poor man stayed with her until time caught up on them and he was diagnosed with prostate cancer so his dream of having a family of his own never came true. Quit finding excuses for her and learn to research for yourself instead of blindly repeating the story about their fairy tale romance.

That is not the only reason to not like Rima but it's a big one. Like someone mentioned who reads like I do, Alan said fatherhood is not something I deliberately chose to avoid. Do you understand what that means? He did not deliberately, that means knowingly and on purpose, choose which means to pick and avoid means to not do something. If as you say he loved her more than having children then yes he would have left her but there's only one reason why he would have stayed with her, and that is because she let him think they would have children someday!! Because Alan said he didn't deliberately choose this.... If he knew she was never going to have children and stayed with her anyway then that would be deliberately choosing to avoid fatherhood, and he said he didn't deliberately choose to not have children. The other horrible thing thing she did and there is no excuse for, was publishing his private diaries. Apparently Alan requested that his diaries be destroyed when he died! Rima had other ideas. Not only did she not destroy them, she kept, sold and published them, relinquishing her rights to them! That is undeniably shameful that his wife did not honor his last request about his own diaries. Think about that for a while.

Well the"love of his life" led him to believe they would have children eventually, and the "love of his life" Instead of honoring her " beloved's request to destroy his diaries when he died, his "loving" wife kept and published his diaries for the whole world to see! That is without a doubt the most shameless thing I ever heard of for somebody supposedly who " loved" their partner!

You're wrong so wrong! He did not choose her over having children. That was chosen for him! Alan said, "fatherhood was never something I deliberately chose to avoid". He didn't choose it. By staying with her, knowing that she did not want children, that would be DELIBERATELY choosing not to have children. By staying with her that means only one thing.... He was under the impression they would have children one day! That's the only way he could have deliberately chose not to have children! And why is it that everyone is so impressed that he respected her wishes, when they could care less for his own! Alan wanted three children.... That would have been his ideal family . She couldn't have one child for him? They couldn't have adopted one or two older children later on? Let's face it. She just didn't want to be bothered with children, her own or anyone else's, or even a dog for that matter! That really breaks my heart that he couldn't even get a dog, and died before he could 😢
