Alan Wake 2 - Secret Replay Arcade + The Janitor arcade minigame

Modified one of the Lua scripts in the game data to enable the neon_signs streaming unit layer to show the Replay Arcade signs. Used a separate cheat to unlock the door itself because the code to unlock the door is dummied out. I couldn't see any way this would've been unlockable without modifying the game's Lua code so I think it wasn't meant to unlockable at all currently. It's still unknown if the Replay Arcade and The Janitor minigame will be made available in a future DLC.
The Janitor minigame itself has awkward controls (WASD movement, F to attack, tab to drink and throw beer, hold Z to run). The GUI for the minigame is also not displaying properly. I played for a while after recording the video but I didn't find an end to the minigame. There's a machine leaderboard menu I can't see due to the GUI not working where it displays how many coins have been collected, so I think maybe this is meant to be a game that you play to collect coins until you eventually die instead of there being a fixed number of levels.

I really hope they add some type of combat arcade mode,like in American Nightmare. Small portions of the map set up like a horde mode,and other things. American Nightmare is so fun just for the side game modes alone. Wish they would bring something like it back

I need that 8-bit Sankarin Tango as my ringtone. My guess was that it was cut feature to replay chapters after you finished the game, hence the name "Replay Arcade".

Death Rally has been appearing since the first game as a poster, arcade cabinet in AWAN and in AW2 both on Alan and Saga's side. It's always been there.

I think they didnt could finish it fast enough before release. So they cut it, but it will come soon as free DLC. So stay tuned :)

very cool. as a gamedev its always interesting to see people find stuff. "Used a separate cheat to unlock the door itself because the code to unlock the door is dummied out" was this memory editing a bool value or something or modifying the .exe to return true from that dummied method?

Yes, it was just a simple bool flag in memory. I found a spot of the code in Ghidra that referenced the door unlock flag during a check. I think for displaying the lock icon but I haven't looked at it in a few months so my memory is fuzzy. The flag seemed to be referenced in multiple places separately (so no simple checker function), so instead of patching the code I would breakpoint on the instruction that I knew referenced the flag, modify the flag in memory, and resume execution so that the game could see the door as a normal unlocked door. Eventually I learned some Cheat Engine scripting and automated that process.

I used unluau to decompile the binlua scripts and then luau to compile them back into binlua.

I got around to playing the DLC earlier today and saw they changed the minigame quite a lot. The DLC originally was supposed to be 5 episodes long (confirmed via datamining shortly after the game was released), with Casey having his own chapter. So I am curious if they planned on using The Janitor minigame there but cut the entire episode after James McCaffrey passed away (RIP) and reworked it into what we got in the DLC instead.
