As a culture, we’re obsessed with time. We’re both haunted by the past and dreading the future. But the truth is that the future and the past don’t exist. We might think that the past and the future are as real as the present, but that’s the illusion of time. In reality, the present is the only thing that exists. A clock tracks movement, like the rotation of Earth and our orbit around the Sun. But its measurement of time isn’t objective. There is only the present, and its direction is forward.

Don’t argue with your God. Not a single human can confidently describe the Time. Humanity doesn’t have a solid grasp of Time. Just because you don’t understand doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. It’s your stupidity. - the Almighty God

I recently faced a challenging English assignment - crafting my college application essay. On the first day of this assignment, I found myself staring at an empty Google Docs page, feeling utterly lost. Uncertainty about my life's purpose left me struggling to write about myself. Nevertheless, I knew this essay would be one of the most important pieces I'd ever write, and perfection was the goal.When I returned home from school, I sat at my desk, adjusted the lighting, fired up my computer, and, most importantly, played your videos on the TV behind me. The insightful discussions about life and its profound questions brought a calming influence into my writing space. With your content as my backdrop, I finally found the clarity and focus I needed to tackle my college essay.I'm genuinely delighted with how it turned out. I want to express my heartfelt thanks for providing these videos that eased my mind and opened up a world of new ideas and perspectives for me. They are my go-to source for inspiration and contemplation. ❤️ Thank you so much

"The future I dreamed of will never come, because there's always something more to chase." Sounds more profound than accurate. If I dream of winning a competition and do so, how is that dream I once wished for, now not a reality for me? Sure, I can now have a NEW dream about wanting to win more competitions, but that's just it.. it's a NEW dream, not the old one. Just because you now desire bigger and better things after achieving a dream, does not take away the fact that you've accomplished the original dream.. 🤯
@lukaszgandecki4069
@lukaszgandecki4069 7 ай бұрын
it's not that you have not achieved the dream, it's the fact that the future you "dreamed of" doesn't come, because in that dream, achieving the goal meant peace and happiness and lasting satisfaction. But, instead of that, you get a very short satisfaction, and then a longing for something else. THIS was not the part of the dream - so in that sense, the dream never comes

Agree on most of what you said but we need to have a vision and goal for our future in order for us to have a purpose here on this world. Not being focused on future will just make us live from day to day like animals. I think we should set our goals and think of future but enjoy every moment in the present and appreciate what we have and not take it for granted.
@chrisjarmain
@chrisjarmain 7 ай бұрын
it's not that we should live in senseless present moments that lead to nowhere but still more present. It's more that when you have grasped the fish, you no longer need the net. To use Zhuangzi for a moment. When we understand that there really is no future or past, we can fully live now. We can appreciate that the past and future do exist, but that it's unwise to take them too seriously.
@dvdmon
@dvdmon 5 ай бұрын
These are simply beliefs, not facts. We don't "have to" have a vision, or goals, we don't "have to" have a purpose. We ARE animals. The idea of needing to have a purpose or goal in order to be satisfied is often just a distraction from the present - I don't like being in the present, there's something unsatisfying about it, so I'm going to just think about this imaginary future by making goals. The problem is that the idea of "the future" is a double-edged sword, as the video implies. We've been able to progress technologically by leaps and bounds due to our ability to think about the future. Technology in and of itself is a huge double-edged sword. Many things about it make our lives longer and healthier, more connected, and many things about technology make our lives more dangerous, more painful (in terms of anxiety, loneliness, distraction, etc.). The idea of needing to have a purpose or goal in order to be satisfied is often just a distraction from the present - I don't like being in the present, there's something unsatisfying about it, so I'm going to just think about this imaginary future by making goals. Being able to imagine the future was definitely an adaptation that served our species in terms of it's survival early on, but it also has proven to an aspect of our brains that has caused a huge amount of suffering in a variety of ways...

It's amazing to hear people who have had deep realizations about the nature of self, reality, etc. IE, they've gone through kensho, but even more so, they have had nondual realizations where they can essentially see through the illusion of time and even form, not conceptually, but intuitively (or however you want to phrase it). It doesn't always take decades of meditating 12 hours a day either, some people just get "lucky" (if you consider it that). I definitely think about it as kind of Neo seeing the code behind reality of the Matrix, lol

I agree 100%, except for a slightly different reason. Time is imaginary. A construct of the human mind for convenience and coordination of human events. Basically, motion is the more fundamental quantity in the universe. Without motion there is no time. If you have any training in basic physics, you have probably seen that motion (velocity) is defined as "velocity = distance/time". I submit that is the incorrect definition and should instead by written as "time = distance/velocity". Motion is everywhere, it is tangible (unlike time.) Thinking about it like this makes a lot of phenomenon in the universe that would otherwise be counter intuitive much more logical. For instance, take Einstein's theory of relativity. At relativistic speeds, time does not slow down, but rather motion within the speeding entity slows down. And I'm talking about the vibrations of atoms. Once all of your atoms slow down, everything slows down along with it. You age more slowly. Does time stop in a black hole? No, it's just that there is such a high degree of gravity there that all motion (again on the atomic level) ceases. Think about it. Makes sense. Time is imaginary.

I'm not a platonist. I'm actually most on the organic reality school. But I bet that's why Plato started to think about the forms. If there are no horses around you in the present, does that mean they don't exist at all? But I get the point of the video, it's just that some words were miss chosen. And that can lead to more confusion about this already confusing concept.

If time dont exist then you dont exist. You exist outside your body and you exist inside of it. What is your inside? What can you do to paint the outside of your inside? One dont have to change the world and one dont have to change oneself. What topic you loves and what you want to feel that is what you should go after. Simplest things are hardest to capture. What simple things and smaller thing can make one very happy. Remember that..... still young dont let fire go out.

the reason most people care about themselves being happy is because of how it makes them feel pleasant. For example, eating a dessert like cake or ice cream will make you feel happy, so people do it for that reason. I also feel like if nothing at all mattered anyways, your happiness would be your only priority because your feelings are all that you can experience.

What is the present? I always ponder it. Time is always changing;if you were to consider it as the hands of a clock, If it was at 15 past 3, that would be your present. But what about when it becomes 16 past 3? Then 15 past 3 becomes the past. What if it was merely one millisecond after 15 past 3? Wouldn’t that still make 15 past 3 the past? The present seems to become shorter and shorter. But, in the end everything in the world _exists_ in the present, because whether it’s 15 past 3 or 49 past 3 we’re still living in it. But, what is time? The Present past and future are all based on time. How was the first clock able to tell the time? The sundial used shadow positions to tell the time , but how did those shadows become things that help tell it? Someone must have chosen what the time should be at each shadow. Based on the position of those shadows and the suns position too. But time has always been here..? Time is everything, the past , the present, the future. It’s all of it. Yet If there isn’t time, how can we move? It’s so odd, all of it. Shower thoughts, shower thoughts.. tut tut tut 🙄 I don’t mean this as a challenge to science, I don’t know dog crap about it, like I’m not all that interested in it and IM ONLY YEAR SEVEN…😰 Wow, an eleven year old watching Apertures. Only a little concerning ☺️☺️

Don't get me wrong, but according to the Special Theory of Relativity, the past, present and the future all exist together in the spacetime continuum like a flipbook. The people inside the flipbook would think that their time is moving forward, the their past no longer exists, and their future is yet to arrive, when in reality the all the pages in the whole flipbook all exist at once. It's like that.
