Becoming a Buddhist monastic (monk or nun) is often a desire by Westerners new to the religion instead of staying a layperson. But should you? What does it entail? And, can you have a complete Buddhist experience as a layperson?
This episode's guest is Sanathavihari Bhikkhu is a Mexican American Theravada Buddhist monk from Sarathchandra Buddhist Center in N. Hollywood California and shares his experiences.

I live in Russia and I actually have found a buddhist center in my Siberian city called Tomsk. Thank you for bringing this topic up, I've been thinking about becoming a nun for couple years now.

Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu 🙏🙏🙏❤ It is great to see in the western countries the origin of the Buddha teachings is spreading day by day . they learn , analyze , put into practice and accepting the teachings of the Buddha is a great way ... It is great way because they didnt follow blindly . Right ? so as a lay person i wanna tell to the peoples who wanna learn and practice Buddha Teachings please do learn and read about the origin of the teachings of Buddha , listen from the Venerable Monks , listen from the lay person like @Alan , those who knows The Buddha teachings Well. Why am i telling this ? coz where i live the Place call Myanmar is the place well know as Buddhist country ..But still many lay peoples do not know what Real Buddhism is. And There are so many people who still think and believe Buddha as a God or A Creator. That's because they didn't learn well and follow blindly and know nothing about Buddha Teachings.. So Guys , from the regarding that I mention above you guys can know how important it is to learn from the great teachers and to put into practice . Please don't live with the flow . Thank You...
