Review of the Anker Soundcore Flare 2 360 degree Bluetooth speaker. Rated at 20 watts is this the best Bluetooth speaker for around £65? I'm not an audio expert, even then my desire to get the best sounding speaker is none the less. Instead of playing the samples, reviewing the speakers from technical perspective not only gives me the confidence in my choice but also educates me how to make the right choice. I just don't like sounds from models I never knew why, but that before seeing your video. So far I would define them as boomy, muddy or deep base. Now I can describe my likeness in frequency ranges... Thanks.

Thanks to you I just got my flare 2 in the mail today. It’s crazy how much noticeably better the sound quality was when I used your custom eq. Keep up the Great reviews! Try comparing some of the big guys like motion boom to the ue megaboom 3

Perfect review sir , I just want to ask if I dont care about light effects modes and I already have good equaliser to my phone player there will be a big difference with the anker app or I can make the same adgustments with my player , thank you

On the flare2 at 100% volume turn off bass up and raise the bass in the equalizer. It should go louder and controlled at this point. With the bass up on the DSP tries to keep it from distorting. I also noticed that on my rave neo that when I engage the daisy chain button it cleans up the sound slightly.

Yep, we all thought the same, one chinese company made them all. But how do compare the Flare 2 in regards to XB23 and Flip 5? I'm having hard time picking up the right speaker for me out of so many on the market.

Your review was so good I had to buy one however when I checked out the Canadian Amazon site I noticed that you could buy 2 for 89.99 cad (just under 55 pounds) that came with a $20 coupon which brought the price down to $79.09 (just under 48 pounds) they are amazon renewed so if there's something wrong I can always return them but I'm hoping that they sound great & the lights work properly 😜 Keep up the good work with these top notch videos I look forward to seeing the next tribit stormbox micro 2 video the micro 1 is arguably my favourite speaker in my collection along with the motion + and the recently added xsound mega

@@alanrossreviews It's got some DEEP BASS lol 😆 😂 🤣 😅 I really like it so far the first day I had it I was kind of on the fence whether or not I was going to return it but after listening to music and yt videos for 2 days straight I was hooked...haven't taken it out for a hike yet but that's something else I'm looking forward to :)

im told the mega will get a firmware update to make it work with the app though i guess it will be a manual upgrade since the app doesnt work.

20 watts... as a alternative for outdoor speakers i just order two Tribit Micro to use them in stereo on hiking trips. They are rated 9 watt each so as a stereo pair its comes to 18 watts. Can't wait to test them out ..

Please, if you don't mind update us the battery life by volume once you have them. It would be much appreciated.. I am considering two tribit in the near future as well. I currently have the bose micros but I heard the tribit sounds better. 😊

@@halfcrazyluv1 No problem, but I won't be able to give you any info on max volume, I never listen my speakers on max... if someone does that mean he needs a bigger speakers.. 😅🤣😂.

@@alanrossreviews Well after just a brief listening... If I compare them to Jbl charge 3 they win in therm of clarity but can't mach with bass. We need to keep in mind that they are very small... But can really reproduce quite decent bass. If right position about 1 meter from the listener then they quit nice. More testing required...

I noticed on my Flayer 2, the sound changed a lot after I listened to music for 3-4 hours daily for a month. Alan, is your Flayer 2 out of the box, or did you also listen to music on it beforehand?

I saw someone's review (a good one) where they said flare 2 is amazing but don't buy it for streaming videos (wondering whether u specifically tested the online streaming part, i.e. netflix etc) Also, 1 piece motion+ vs 1 pc Flare2 which one do you think will give close to stereo feel? (as I saw some other videos where u combined two 40 quid speaker for speaker which is making me think twice about my purchase decision) Thanks v. much in advance for your valuable response.

@@uniyalgaurav flare 2 is not amazing, it is nice. Latency is very device specific so experiences will vary. neither are awful but wont be lag free. motion plus is different league to flare 2.

@@alanrossreviews Thanks, I think I will go with motion+ as it has aux, flare 2 doesn't or ill need converter to usbC.. its 30w more power, it has 5 speakers facing me, my use is not really 360 degree, i intend to use it as my desktop speaker, tv soundbar and bathroom speaker, and sometimes outdoor park. I will miss the led lights and cool look of flare2, (soundcore motion plus could have looked prettier, but its ok), I can buy some additional lights to fulfill my light with sound desire. Thanks again. :))

yeah the bass is there, you just cant squeeze any more with the app although someone mentioned you can if you switch off bassup so need to try that. how you doing?

@@alanrossreviews My Flare 2 seems to have some kind of "Bluetooth Noise" issue. When playing at 7-14% volume there's a strange sound (like radio signal sound) most noticeable when streaming KZfaq.

i wonder why you have gone for those 3? the flare 2 is nice sure, not great but nice but its a 360 speaker, is that what you want? w3 again is ok but great for factor for travel. flip 5 for on axis is ok but theres better value out there. at the price level there is the soundcore boost, uboom l, masound plus, motion boom. if its a small for factor you want the mifa wildrod is close to the flip 6 for less money.

@@alanrossreviews hey, the reason I chose these is because the other speakers aren't available in the area I live in, and if they are available they are extremely overpriced. Motion plus and flip 6 is almost 150$ here which is out of my budget. Also, the flare 2 and flip 5 are the same price here, (80$) but i think i will wait for a sale. I need the speaker mostly for indoors and some travel, and I like the lights of the flare 2 which is why I was considering it. What would you suggest among these options? Also, the tribit maxsound plus and Tribit stormox fit are options as well, but I've heard they are not too good on bass

So you would go for flare 2($70) over the earfun uboom($50) even with the battery of the flare 2? Motion plus($100) would be the best at 100 im guessing🤔.

I don't get why companies are removing the 3.5mm aux. On phones / tablets they want us to buy their crappy wireless earbuds but on speakers... Why ?! I would like a comparison with the Motion+ though ;)

no they just fire in more directions so you actually get less of a soundstage in pure stereo terms.

I recently checked and most of the eq setting posts that you made are for the other Soundcore products. Couldn’t find the Flare 2 custom settings that you made.

alan i get rit off my vifa helsinki it destorts with the bass already on low volume vifa said and tested it and say the speaker is just unable deep bass. it's not a problem for them so as your voice is perfect from this speaker bass is not so bye bye vifa.....what should I buy next alan😊👈

I don’t know if it’s just me but after listening the SONY XB 23, 33, 43 for weeks non stop, the Megaboom 3 sounds as if there is a thin layer containing the bass at max volume. But I do actually like the magic button and the over use of the Megaboom 3. But I with the SONY XB33 was a360 speaker !!!

they sound quite different, the boost has a better quality bass. the flare 2 is 360 speaker so depends on how you listen. boost will only sound good from the front.

Earfun Uboom sounds definitely better, the bass sounds deeper. Flare 2 has much worse clarity.

You know, playing audio speaker comparisons are totally useless to the viewer/listener, unless they are listening with the exact same speaker. I'll never understand why people do that unless it's just to boost viewing minutes.
