I go to a small local gym and the owner is awesome! We may not have tons of special bars, but we have 6 squat racks, 6 barbells, and a few specialty bars (like a trap bar).

I hate black bars. Try finding your grip spot in a dark gym. Good luck. Silver is gold. EDIT- Yes the gym has no windows and is on the dark side. Also, they don't allow chalk.

Great video as usual. I watch all of your videos multiple times and learn a lot about training, and get motivated to train. You are far and away one of the most intelligent and detailed video makers as far as explaining in a totally positive way the rationale for what you do and why you do it. Also, you're one of the best and funniest writer/actor/producers on KZfaq. I'm a little disappointed that you took the toilet scene out of your opening montage, but relieved that you found a girl to marry you with that in your opening montage. 😜 Keep it up! Also, some video of the baby snuck in here and there wouldn't hurt.

I love my texas power bar. I went at it with the same approach that you gave the B&R bar with but wanted a heavier knurling and love it for an all purpose bar. Stiff enough for squats and bench, whippy enough for deads, looks awesome with the thick collars so I'm not banging the plates off my wide af rogue rack, and feels so nice in the hands since it isn't too thick or too thin!

The Ohio power bar is more similar to a bar you’d find in competition. The TPB is thinner, has more aggressive knurling, and is whippier. Folks like it for deadlifting, the whip makes it a bit easier to move heavier weights off the floor. The love for the OPB is that it’s comp standard, but much cheaper (~330) than a Eleiko (~1000) or Titex (~450) bar. If you’re competing, you really want to train how you’ll compete. The 20kg silver OPB knurling is very close to how an Eleiko bar is. Competition plates are expensive, but a good addition too. The Texas squat bar is longer, stiffer, and thicker than a OPB. But has the same issues as the TPB if you’re competing. You really want to replicate the whip and feel of the bar on your back, especially in heavier squats, that you’ll have in a meet, but you don’t want too much whip (like with a TPB) which makes doing reps much harder. So both bars are good bars, it’s really horses for courses, and if you’re on a budget and if you can only get one bar, it’s a question of which bar will give you the most for your specific goals. But that’s the reason for the hype with the OPB. I should note, iirc, the USPA and other feds use the Texas squat bar (iirc), but the USAPL doesn’t. So it’s important to know which bars are being used in whatever federation a lifter might be competing in. A great second bar would be something like the Elitefts Yoke Bar (safety squat bar). We have both the OPB and Yoke bars.

Liked that cambered football bar. Would you consider doing a video on integrating different bars ( cambered bar, swiss bar, safety squat bar) into a routine ? Do you find the variety in benching with various grip angles facilitates more volume at heavier weight ?

I lift in a high school weight room. We have nine racks that we squat, bench, and do pull-ups in. We have standard 45 lb straight bars and a 50 lb and one lighter lying around somewhere. We have trap bars with and without handles, and one curl bar. There’s like 4 different machines, and some dumbbells and kettlebells. I didn’t know there were so many types of bars-
