A Spotted Deer sounds and alarm after sensing the presence of a predator in the distance in the Bandipur National Park.

Thank you for this. I kept trying to tell my friends it wasn't a f****** bird. I used to live in nature and he kept thinking they were hearing a bird and I'm kept telling him no. It's the deer. They are warning each other about a predator. We just had coyotes out here last night and now they're out there again calling to each other

Alarm calls from chital deer, Indian peafowl, and langur monkeys are a good indicator that a tiger or leopard is nearby. Perhaps, even a clan of dholes/Asiatic wild dogs. Did you see any predators after that encounter with the deer?
