Visual art was always central to Alasdair Gray’s life, but he achieved recognition first and foremost as a writer. During his time at Glasgow School of Art, he began to write sections of what would later become his most critically acclaimed novel, ‘Lanark’.
We spoke to the artist and friend Liz Lochhead about his work: his art, writing, and connection to the city for this film, published in 2019.
