Alaska Airlines plane window pops off during flight leaving hole in its side

171 people were on the flight, and no one was injured. The flight, No. 1282, was heading from PDX to Ontario, California. Photos show that a panel on the back left side of the plane blew out during the flight.

It was a precut mid cabin exit door that isn’t activated by Alaska airlines with this cabin layout. The doors are plugged from the inside and look like a regular window.

Oh my goodness.. imagine if you’re the one seating next to that side. But surprisingly it’s not like we see in movies like there’s a strong vortex sucking everything out.

That is a emergency exit panel. It looks like either a mechanism failure or the kid was playing with it

It’s plugged from the inside and the mechanism can’t be activated from passengers. Also the seats next to the panel have been empty

Why do they keep saying window? Because someone did not latch it correctly and the door sensor failed? There's got to be a door ajar light? My 1985 Chevy has a door ajar light... There's multiple problems they are covering up.

this was only a window, but there would be an emergency exit/door in an other configuration of the plane. This plane had a plug with a window instead.

Boeing is horrible. Top , first on the list with the most crashes. I fly Airbus. If you hear about a crash it's a Boeing. A plane disappeared? Boeing! A380 crashes ZERO. 777 crashes? Holy cow.... Europe should ban Boeing. Keep your shitty American crap in USA
