Alastair Stewart has recalled the ‘emotional’ moment he announced the death of Queen Elizabeth II to the world and his meetings with the monarch.
Stewart announced the death of Queen Elizabeth II at 6:30pm on the 8th September, 2022 on GB News. In a sit-down interview with GB News' Royal Correspondent, Cameron Walker, he said: "I just remember thinking, 'gosh, this is one of the big ones'.
"I don't know if I said to you afterwards, but I did genuinely find it very emotional reading it out.
He continued: "It was the passing of a remarkable woman who I genuinely, throughout my entire professional career, had admired and had had the extraordinary honour of meeting on a couple of occasions through charity events and also when I received my OBE".

Good to see Cameron is getting more opportunity. I enjoy watching his Royal coverage. It's good to see Alistair being interviewed by a younger colleague, good one.

Cameron Walker did a great job with this interview. Respectful, attentive, kind, with insightful follow-up questions. And, thank you to Mr Stewart for sharing his memories of that very sad day.

Thank you for a very interesting and informative interview. Alastair Stewart is an ‘old school’ journalist. I wish there were more like him. He lifted my spirits on a day when I’m feeling sad.

It must have been a shock for HLMTQ and her family to get the diagnosis of cancer just as it is for all families. I think it was rightly up to them as to when they released that news.

The Queen Mother was only hospitalised twice due to getting a fishbone stuck in her throat. Admittedly that's two times more than seems normal but Stewart makes it sound like it was happening regularly!

Lovely guy with a long career. He sounds lucid here but his decline will likely progress fairly quickly given his diagnosis some time ago, according to his recent interview

Points of view... Why oh why oh why is QE2's exiting stage left last autumn suddenly being resurrected now, when we have a set of problems coming down the pipeline that even Bazalgette would have been hard pushed to deal with. Is it a charm offensive by the charmless wefman formerly known as Prince? Ps, asking for a friend!
