Agree. Excatly my thoughts on every LazyPeon sponsored videos. Would be great if they are a showcase video. I play this game and I really like it but seeing this video it make the game looks bad.

@@KineticCalvaria I mean the issue is clear. he doesn't even list things like the predatory gacha mechanics as a con at the end and instead just says "not for anime haters" it's at best a terrible review that's flat out ignorant of the actual game it's reviewing, and at worst it's a review where the sponsor had a say in the script of the video.

I was really hoping he would understand how the combat actually works :D The orb system is like a connect 3, you need to stack up multiple orbs and make your best to connect three of the same color.

and then ya discover every character have its own unique passives with orbs on how ya combine them and use them :D

Yes, orbs and other stuff tie in to how you activate the core passives of each character which is why you personally have to know them all. At peak gameplay, youre trying to ping orbs while dodging enemies and reading atk patterns. To add to that, if youre wearing da vinci, that even makes it even more important which slot to put your characters to maximize dmg and you will be incentivized to be mindful of which orbs to ping and manage your character switching. The had eye coordination in this game is next level and no big content creator has ever successfully shown this nuanced side of pgr combat. Like i said, this video aint it, and not even the great mtashed even truly understood this game at least from the video he made about it. Kinda sucks that kuro's genius is not really known and the few videos that try to sell this game has been a$$

not necessarily have to tho, sure you can connect all three for the utmost efficiency of the skill but you can also just use it while connected with 2 or even 1, and entering the matrix make those 2 | 1 orbs counted as 3. just laying it there tho some people might get misinformed and think orb system is some candycrush type shit

Honkai is fine coz bosses fights back Genshin? This is the kind of game that gets even better with time. The early chapters can be a bit of a slog, but the story, gameplay, music, and difficulty are taken up a notch with each new update. Story missions do get longer later on, but the meat and potatoes of the game lies in the boss fights and other game modes like Warzone and Pain Cage, where you fight hordes of mobs and bosses and the combat really shines. No other action mobile game pumps me up nearly as much as PGR's endgame Norman War and Babel Tower (looking at all of Mihoyo's IPs and ToF as a base for comparison). Btw, you can turn off 9S's hacking game if you tire of it, it'll just be a nuke.

Norman is fcng bullshit. Why are you forced to use one damn character per stage and then its locked? You either habe all characters build or you are forced to use trials that are garbage. And whole difficulty comes from fact that enemies have bazzilion hp and resistances and you race against time

@@okularnik125 But if you don't have the characters to finish it early you don't need to, do you? The game gives you 10 days for Norman, with each day being substantially easier than the last. By day 10 you have enough buffs in your team that you can reach 9K power with _all_ trial units, if you can't even finish it by then, it's not even a skill issue, it means you aren't even trying. Plus, the rewards for finishing early are hardly better than finishing late, so it's not like you're losing out as a new F2P player compared to long time players either. The whole point of the design is for players to choose the kind of challenge they want for themselves, with the resources they have. You can skip it entirely and you're not missing anything groundbreaking; same applies to most other event modes.

PGR is a good game to advertise. Game definitely deserves more attention and advertisement. It literally gives every new character to the player just for doing dailies consistently which take like 10 to 15 minutes per day. You don't have to skip banner.

Probably the only gacha game that I respect as long as they keep their feet on the ground. Combat is innovative and extremely satisfying, specifically the 3 ping system, the dodge and parry matrix, as well as the QTEs. Great boss design. Story is dark and good, albeit meandering at earlier chapters, it gets really good though, like the current Lamia quest and the Selena one. Gacha system is probably the fairest I've ever seen in the industry. But still a gacha though. Music is top-tier, specially if you love trance music. The world-building is convincing, but I think attention should be paid while reading the visual novel. Otherwise, it will feel somehow unbelievable. Probably one of the most important factor for me is how communicative the developers are to their players. I think this review doesn't do it justice, the points of difference aren't highlighted enough, specially the 3 ping system, the fair gacha monetization, and the aforementioned. Cause without emphasizing those, PGR will just look like a generic ARPG. Now let's wait for the PC client.

@@Kaiilayn IIRC it's a hack n' slash gacha far closer to Honkai Impact 3rd (IIRC it and HI3 are the only notable ones atm), though more execution-heavy in comparison (I've seen some people say Honkai 3rd has turned into an "unga bunga" game).

I think that's very true in regards to when he covered "League of Maidens". That "game" was complete and utter trash. Having played PGR myself, I can confirm it's really not a bad game and I doubt he'd have to force himself to be positive about it.

If you play as 2B, gather around 12+ orbs and just spam them through, you will get a little bit of an easter egg - a somewhat remarkable outfit change ;)

Been playing this a year noe and i can tell you this game is incredibly generous with ingame currency including a system in the game itself to aquire units wihtout ever spending a dime by doing challenges to get tokens to trade for construct shards and at 50 shards you unlock that construct. Super F2P and fun game with a high skill ceiling later down the line. Edit: Forgot to mention the pity system is really good too where at 60 pulls its guaranteed an S rank if you havent rolled one before then. Its pretty on par with arknight's pity system but the generous in game currency plus pity puts a big smile on my face

I dont knoe the exact amount since they give the currency via missions, challenges, login, weekly missions, events, and if you buy the monthly card for like $5. Ofc you dont have to buy it or else it wouldnt be f2p. For me with the card plus everything else I made about 9000 cards at 2500 cards for 10 pulls that puts me at 36 pulls. I could have made more Im not sure since i havent been keeping track but ive only spent like $20 and have all but 3 of the S ranks in the game. The game is extremely fun and challenging so I hope you like it.

@@Yuuki-SJ As I understood it: you've bought 4 cards (I guess these are the currency and this is a pack of cards) each costs 5$ that put you at about 9000 cards which translates into 36 pulls. These prices are outrageous.

@@clueless7822 No sorry lol I didnt explain myself clearly. I spent intotal since o started playing $20 on monthly cards xD. $5 for each month which the cards net about 3300 on its own each month. I also mentioned i havent kept track of my black cards all i know is in 2 months and just the monthly card plus playing I have currently 15k black cards equalling 60 pulls with a guranteed S rank at 60. Unlike most gacha games the pity just gives you a better chance at pity whereas they legit just give it to you and the pity carries over to other banners. The pity resets if you get an s rank early tho. Ive played genshin, fgo, arknights, and azur lane and ill say onky arknights came close to PGR in my opinion. The only thing in this game that gets pricey are cosmetics and s rank weapons. But constructs are just as strong with A rank weapons as well just have to tweak your build for them. Edit: Sorry you can get A rank(gold) weapons if you roll or get them via the co-op zone. Co-op is fun but its kinda clunky atm Edit 2: Sorry I just noticed as well. Monthly cards are like the paid login rewards. Rainbow cards are the paid currency. R&D Cards are from juat playing and login events they only roll A ranks. Weapon Research cards are well for weapons. CUB cards are for these little compabions that offer another form of CC or damage outaide your construct. Event cards which are cards specific to premium banners. Last but not least black cards which are the currency offered by all the activities in game that can be converted into any of the cards abive except rainbow cards. Rainbow cards can be converted to black cards as well but i highly recommend against doing that as rainbow cards should be strictly used for discount packs.

To be honest, I don't like anime but I really love this game. The artstyle of it is totally unique compared to any gacha anime game out there, much more toned down and not too over-the-top. Also the combat system is probably one of more technical skill-based gameplays I've ever seen, feels truly rewarding once you get better by for eg. memorizing attack patterns of enemies. And to all that, add a really mature, rich, & engaging storyline, in which your self-insert character actually plays a significant, central role (that's other thing that I find unique in this game compared to other games of that type). Anyways, can't recommend this game enough, such an underrated gem. As someone else in the comments said, this video doesn't exactly do justice to this game, not showing how really complex the combat really is.

For a new character released you can get her 100% every 60 pulls if you pull on the right banner. Those that arent new you can get them, but you only have a 70% chance to do so and 30% chance to get a random s rank character

Best part is people trying to figure out how the orb system works, let's say the combat is 10 times more intricate than you've understood so far. Like interactions between core passives memories and qtes

the game didn't just launch.....3 months ago.... it's been out since the end of 2019..... you have been missing out on this game :P , orb system connect 3 dots (orbs) and plan for them skillz u want to use/passives etc.... this is a true quality game and soon it's going to have a little sibling, an open world sibling that i hope it outgrows it in popularity and everything else it's called Wuthering Waves see if u can get in the closed beta i think it starts soon edit : some grammar

@TheLazyPeon Decent First Impression review. If you want to fight hordes of enemies go to Challenge tab, then go into Warzone. (the rotation changes every 4 days) If you want to fight 3 different bosses with increasing difficulty, Challege > Phantom Pain Cage (changes every Monday) There are also ultra hard events called Babel Tower and Norman that require being in the zone to finish, and even if you whale on the game, the mobs can 1 shot you if you cant dodge properly. Some fights can reach 5 or even almost 10 minutes depending on how tanky the boss is. You can also join guilds and engage in guild battles that change every week. Hope you can play more of the game and create an in-depth review one day.

I wasn't expecting this from you. It's a good game I can tell you that A con I always had for this game is that there are a overwhelming amount of modes that don't really have a actual use or their use is outdated Luckily beginner guides for this game are very well made by the community so a quick eyeing of it should give you a very good sense of direction without wasting any of your time. I recommend textual guides but if you are more of a "video person" there are some too in KZfaq that are also very good. Have fun and always roll for your waifus

I wouldn't say I'm a veteran but, I can't say I haven't played the game a little after it came out for America, I can't be the only one who cringed a bit at his fighting. Each character in the game has its own skill level you kinda have to learn, A ranked characters of course being easier, so when I watched his technique in using vera, kinda died inside but then I got a good chuckle. Nothing against him of course, it was actually kinda interesting to see how new players try the game. For me personally, I play mobile games and read a lot so it was pretty easy for me to catch on and get better, plus I played the training for the characters specifically to get better at them.

been playing for years, this game is one of my all time favorites, 100% favorite for mobile. Nier crossover was insane for me 2B ultimate body pillow waifu, I have scale figures of 2B and Lucia next to each other

PGR a game that was design only for mobile but actually good in PC the only one i really like is the combat and Music --- every character have its own core passives (combination of orbs) --- limited but rewarding(matrix) dodge system --- repetitive combat but if feels like ya always discover different things :D im f2p and in the time being im enjoying ma SSS muda muda changyu and ma cannon baby Karenina/blast if PC version comes, i'll restart from the start

You wanna show how great this game can be gameplaywise? Nothing is better than a babel tower run showcase with all the buffs to the enemies or a no dmg showcase of bosses like the mother structure. Dont forget the music too.

In my opinion yes. Combat is good. Gacha system is also good. And it's dark mode doesn't really burn your eyes with flashy ult(?) like Honkai. Oh and the ost is dope🔥

You better stay playing your Genshin impact The fact you missed most good stuffs by skipping scene by scene. 1st the pulling for certain characters Banner in PGR is more friendly and Guaranteed ( 2 options 60 pulls and 100 pulls ) meanwhile weapon banner only needs( 30 pulls ) compare those to FGO Without pity and Genshin has 50/50 might you get the 5* up you want or random 2nd stigama / artifacts aka Memory in PGR are free to grind and some shop/events in-game offers you those 3rd the fact you can grind characters and get them as free 2 play in you the guts and patience to play Pain Cage 4th the fact you mute some good MUSIC/THEMES like fight Lamia makes my blood boils…

The game is fantastic. Amazing to play and it is the most f2p game i have ever played and i played a LOT of games. I am buying only monthly sub and i have every characters with their signature weapon, i have all pets ETC. Story is good, effects are amazing, gameplay is fantastic. @@MrLutharr no, no and big no. I played tons of tons gacha games but this is byfar the best and most f2p friendly game. It is hell of a fun too. You can stay f2p but i recommend buying monthly sub cause you can get the important construct which comes every two patch. I am playing since the start and o have every single S Rank Construct which i made them SS, i have their Signature weapon( hell i got lucky and even upgraded some of them with copies) and their relevent pets( which it is not a must have). Best thing is there is no gacha gear concept on this game and you get your gear from events in game. They gave cosmetic too. I play hi3 for over 2 years too and this game is much much much and much more f2p than hi3 if i can give you an idea.

@@MrLutharr To add to this. It's my favorite gacha on the market currently. As long as you do your daily stuff, you'll almost always have enough to at lest get one copy of the next banner character, in my experience. I'm at a point now that it takes me about 15 mins to complete all daily missions. It has converted me to being only semi F2P now since I actually want to support this dev. Also, I am sorry you had to experience Tencent / Level Infinite as your first taste. Its gross. If more of an open world style is your flavor, next year we are getting Wuthering Waves from the PGR group, and I have high hopes.

I'm not into the collab characters tbh...the team I like is lucia plume, chrome glory and wanshi. This game very generous with gacha...even for multiple 6 star weapons in my first 10 pull in the weapon banner. I guess I got lucky. Sorry but early game I hate it....until I unlock characters I enjoy playing

I really like the look of this game and combat seems really fun. That said, I would rather pay full price for a game and unlock the characters through in game work rather then an artificially created grind and chance system designed to get me to spend money. After all most of us didn’t get lucky on crypto.

What's good is that this game is designed in a way where you can get eventually every character in game just by playing but sure gacha is still far from perfect.

This is one game where you dont have to spend money to get any character whatsoever you can just do dailies and weekly events and get a character. All u need are 60 pulls for guarantee unlike others where you need 80 and 120 pulls

It is sad to see people in the comments immediately dismissing this as yet another mediocre generic anime action mobile game... Its production value is one of the best in its genre, period. Comparing this to Genshin or Tower of Fantasy is a travesty. Yes its gacha, but unless you want to tryhard in a PVE leaderboard system, you really dont have to spend. Its pity system is very fair, way more fair than Genshin for example.

@@viysnjor4811 ok so basically every new character is 100% guaranteed in gacha. No 50/50 bullshit. Every rerun character has a 70% guarantee in gacha so it's like 70/30 instead of 50/50. Weapon banner never goes away and you can pick whatever weapon you want a rate up for without resetting the pity counter (max weapon pity is half of max character pity at 30 and 60 respectively). The weapon rate up is always set at 80/20. Oh and the Genshin 5* equivalents of this game (S ranks) on average cost less than a genshin 5*. Last note is that you can pick whatever A rank (genshin 4*) you want on normal banner whenever you want with the aforementioned 70/30 rate up.

My comment on the "Cons" part 15:57. 1.Mission too short? Yeah that because he only play story not the event mission. Hard content come from events that unlocked after you reach lvl40(i think). You can accomplish it in first 3 days if you got a good mentor. 2. Not for anime hater? I dont understand why this is one of the cons.😅😅😅 3. Not really clear about the game? Everyone would get same impression when we start a new games. Just get used to it, actually it not that hard to figure it out bcz this game quite straightforward. The real "Cons" that he not mention in the video. 1. Coop not stable. High ping in coop(sometimes happen to me) but not unplayable at all. Plus the reward not worth played. 2. Storytelling VN-like where require you to read the story like reading a novel(no voice over for every scene), im not really having a problem with it. But since community keep mention it so i bring it here, but recently they did a survey asking about voice over for english dub so maybe future patch. Who know.

Mihoyo appeals to wider audience because of that. And Mihoyo focuses on delivering good story with world building and exposition. PGR has nice boss fights, cool Combat but it story telling and exposition falls short

Story is in and out for me its like if you played a good JRPG already not even great but a good one the story doesn't set it that far apart that much granted this could be its fed in very small slow bites making following it feel extremely slow or dragged (for obvious reasons its a live service game). I think they are neglecting gameplay now and I even think at 1 point they had plans to do endgame etc for genshin but genshin blew up and now they just have to focus in making wifus and expand the world to make more wifus (btw its in their actual company plan make virtual celebrities or something like that) looking at their previous game that gameplay was actually cooler granted now its starting to look dumb with constant weird form changes. But felt like they put more effort there over the top yaaa but i mean...... its pretty awesome.

Mayne it will suprise you but majority of Genshin player base doesnt have time to be active part of community because they have job and therefore money to spend on game. Those who shout for End game the loudest are streamers and their vievers that have nothing else to do but play games whole day so off course they need content to make them busy. Mihoyo target are mid 20 corporate rats that are weeb enough to whale for their waifus. They dont want to make them threatened in any way with a time consuming bs like PGR does. Thats why PGR is not main stream. It choose its target audience in a niche that enjoys being fucked in ass by unfair game. Kinda like Souls series. But Souls is a one time clear game that doesnt need your atention every day.

Play for the story. You missed fk ton of units. Don't expect to do much in Warzone/PPC/Norman/Babel etc. You'll catch up eventually and good thing about this game is, it rewards the long time devoted players.

A well polished mobile game with a fun and twitchy combat style. I find the game to be better than Honkai even though it is basically a Honkai clone. The way the story is delivered does absolutely nothing for me and I wish we could turn down the amount of screen shake, but other than that, the game is well polished and a fun, casual RPG brawler. I'm pretty optimistic about Wuthering Waves now that I've finally played PGR.

I agree with every other game being red flag but Punishing Gray Raven is imo a hidden gem. Genshin for me is trash in comparison. In PGR you can get EVERY character by being free to play, combat is amazing (i'm big fan of action combat and PGR has for me top1 combat of any action game), end game is focused on your skill (you're competing against other people in 2 modes: killing waves of mobs or killing different bosses), the music is next level (checkout PGR music). The worst part of this game is monetization. It is still gacha unfortunately BUT game is very generouse and you can get every character without spending even a cent so at least it's not the super predatory like Genshin and many other gacha games.

U miss actual good games if u dont like "gacha" some games really have that system but its not necessary. The main driven object is "liking certain character" if u dont like them u can like skip them completely. I have some friends who like rarely use the gacha system simply cuz the newest gacha character doesn't intrests them. Ofc not all gachas give you this option, actually the opposite they encourage players to spend on gacha as much as possible, but punishing gray raven is not one of them

punishing gray raven in reality is "free-taste" in a supermarket. There is nothing into it, just taste. It's not a game, but a concept pitch and you're just tasting on the amazing combat mechanics it has but no substance or whatsoever. Levels and maps made just so you have some space to play the crazy/awesome combat mechanics they created.The real game will be wuthering waves. PS. this is not hate, just my view of the game.

Been playing PGR for a while and I agree. It has amazing combat, probably the best combat in all gacha, but that's literally it. Everything else in the game apart from combat is meh, the game is very soulless.

I don't know why but I've tried to play the game twice, but never really loved it. I've tried it out, but there's something about it that I just don't find comfortable to play with. Still, it's one of the better mobile games out there, and I recommend people to try it at least, cause the next best game that plays like this is Honkai Impact 3rd, and it's still gacha hell in here.

I've tried it for about 2 weeks and while I can understand the praise for the gameplay, its definitely very fun, I find that it takes forever to actually get anything from the gacha as a f2p. Like the game just barely gives any currency for you to even get your first gacha S unit besides the ticket. That and its just a complete slog to get exp for ranks. You reach a certain point where everything you need to do is locked behind a level restriction and you need to play for like a week to get past said restriction. Idk, it just never clicked with me.

I'm F2P as well. You'll have to save up for a bit if you want S ranks, but it's really satisfying once you get your favorite character... It's a guaranteed pity, so it's not like you can never get an S rank. Just be a bit patient and the game will reward you.

I couldn't agree more with you. What does not seat well with me is that you MUST spend REAL money to advance at the pace you'd want and get cool weapons and even doing that you'd be gambling on random loot boxes which I refuse despite reaching level 83 by grinding and also spending about USD 80, I refuse to spend any more money. It's morally wrong.

As a previous top 10 player in the Asian servers, I think the game is definitely worth playing, the unique fast paced action based combat system with almost every attack being cancelable which makes it not feel clunky at all. Along with the interesting boss mechanics and character move sets + the music that vanguard studio produces just makes this game a 10/10 for me, it is the best mobile game I’ve played and was an amazing experience. However, it is still a gacha game, you cannot escape the grind and repetitiveness which is why I eventually decided to quit, but If you don’t care about staying in the top rankings and just want to have fun then it’s perfect

AoC will have Alpha 2 access in the new year (we hope), which will stay open unlike Alpha 1 until the full release for those of us that supported the game and got an Alpha 2 key, so you will see much more game play from people once that happens.

literally everything before chapter 9 was very lazy written and aren't really worth of mention as they are.. well.. pretty short in action and more of just story progression and world building. they funneled all the fun parts to the endgame where youre atleast about level80(which is a dick move considering early game is what decides whether players will stay or nah) where gamemodes like warzone and ppc becomes your priorities, not even mentioning babel tower and norman war.

Before Chapter 9 everything was... mehh. After Chap 9 everything starts getting better. It's like FGO where the chapters before Camelot were absolutely mediocre but when Nasu joined to write the story for Camelot things are getting good.

Showing off the NieR collab is really disingenuous because that event ended months ago. Clearly you were handed an all-access account with your sponsorship just looking at your currencies to show off the game. If you take a sponsored look at games, do it from the ground up without all the freebie handouts. Makes it way more honest of a first impression.
