This legend, was like my godfather i still think about him every day, i worked for him on the doors at the Elbow room . but little did he know i started my door work at the dingle club Northfield when he took it over, We talk about the Krays and other gangster's from the 50/60 but albert was a gent in many ways along as you never stitched him up, .I was at times his taxi home .he was a big man in my small ford puma car, made my laugh. bless him wish his family and friends the best .never forget you albert you put food on the table for my kids thankyou respect big man,

He was Tour Manager on one of first sleeper bus jobs I ever did supporting Magnum What a lovely bloke

I lived in Perry Barr too so loved the Barton Arms & Elbow and in the city the Rum Runner. No one had a bad word to say about big Albert always a gent & greeted you with a smile. Last time I saw him it was in the back room of the club, I was with a lady friend, bought us a drink he was with Les Cole, I know it was a Friday, earlier we had left the Carpe Diem, it must have been 19 years ago.

@@destongTV Thanks for your reply. Please pass on my very best regards to Albert. Hope he remembers me :) I used to drive for him occasionally and spent many many hours in the Elbow Room. He is a dear friend who sadly due to location we have not been in contact for many years. I appreciate your time taken to reply. All the very best. Mark

Lovely to watch this interview with Albert. I was at Birchfield Rd Infants and Primary School with him and also in St John's Church choir with him and Steve Winwood. I think the shilling a wedding was the main attraction for Albert! I wonder if he remembers that at one point he sold conkers in the school playground priced by size and did a roaring trade. Then one Monday morning the Headmistress, Miss Ashmore, appeared at assembly with a big tin overflowing with conkers and announced that we could help ourselves free. She said that she was sorry to spoil Albert's business but didn't like to see natural things sold and went on to say that she was sure Albert would become a very successful businessman in the future! She wasn't far wrong.

So many memories! We had Quartz play in Evesham several times (Musicians Corner their hangout!) You must must do Chappo sometime soon (Red card warning)!
